Does smash really do collision detection? After reading about stuff it seems some traditional fighters just compare character distances and their states as opposed to having true collision detection.
64 uses cuboid and Melee uses capsules. PM debug mode would have me belive that hitboxes are circular, but I'm fairly certain that brawl uses capsules too.

That's what I guessed. I don't understand why you would want those 3d cubes in your 2d fighter anyway. I guess it just wasn't challenging enough for Iwata otherwise.

I think I could do some "testing" but on a pure theoretical base. The PMDT might be able to do more but I don't think they really care...

Hitboxes are circles. The interpolation makes them into capsules. Look at any melee hitbox gif and you'll see

Ok hitboxes are circles, but there are hurtboxes that start as capsules. (they don't have interpolation)
How do you detect collision when they rotate (requires separating axis theorem?) because obviously circles and capsules have no vertices.

Hurtboxes can be capsules, yeah. As soon as the hitbox touches the hurtbox capsule you are then hit. idk how else to explain it lol

Ages is annoying because every time you use the...well time, you have to wait for that same ear wrenching music to play. Season's gimmick was far less forced and felt more fun to explore.
Is 64 banned, cause the hitboxes are cubes. Cubes are like the mighty morphing Zords of squares, hardly acceptable.
