@ SpiderMad SpiderMad it's the Brawl Cstick mechanic that makes the game check the analog stick one frame after reading a Cstick input.
So if you're holding the analog stick and flicking the Cstick you'll get 2 inputs for every Cstick input. Only condition to that is the analog and C sticks must be pressed in different directions
I know that what you mean is probably more or less correct, but that's a bad way to word it. C-stick in Brawl and pm is almost completely a macro for analog direction for 1 frame + a button input you've set it to do. The game doesn't read c-stick earlier or anything, the c-stick input simply overrides analog stick. Saying that the control stick is read later doesn't work because what would then happen if you first hold a control stick direction and then c-stick? /rant

I guess I'm kinda perfectionist.

That's partly what makes mashing and SDI so easy in Brawl, and that's also the mechanic behind the doop walk, the Anytime Foxtrot™, and the easy modo moonwalk in PM.

I'm confused, as this is a topic I would like addressing in a video for custom controls. And was/what happened to the main post being blank? You may have meant to link this: http://smashboards.com/threads/the-smash-lab-info-dump.353758/#post-13758573
(oh and I wanted to question what Bionic is doing nowadays..)

Does Brawl's Dual Stick SDI work? Why?
Does Brawl's grab breaking "KPrime released a method of grab breaking a few months ago that was considered fairly revolutionary. In the method, a player needed to hold the control stick in a direction with his index finger while using his thumb to rock the dpad for inputs. At the same time, he would also have to input the C-Stick in a different direction." still work like this?
Why Does C-stick Moonwalk work? Why do you have to hold A?
Why didn't the button differentiation code for the fullset kill C-stick Moonwalk and other C-stick tricks?

I'm rather curious as to what it is that disappointed you
Fair question.

Grind in and of itself isn't a problem for me. Been there, done that - like I said, I played XI (which had its own share of faults, don't get me wrong) before XIV. Problem is, XIV lacks the variety of content to sustain interest in its grind from patch to patch. You run primals and Coil for main progression (secondaries late in update cycle), the latest dungeons and tower for weekly tomes and secondary gear, and dailies, hunts, grinding for vanity gear, etc fluff out your day's content - and that's it. In theory this might be enough, but each individual piece of content is relatively short (duration is accomplished via repetition) and weekly lockouts artificially limit both variety of content and your ability to progress.

The balancing of classes is actually really really good (better than most MMOs anyways) but there isn't a whole lot of variety (yet.)
Agreed, but the classes themselves are all pretty shallow in design (I enjoyed WAR most) and the loot system limits your ability to develop multiple classes. You pretty much have to pick a main and a secondary unless you want to grind multiple characters. This is a bad combination for me - I like some meat to my class design, and while I don't mind playing one class 80%+ of the time if I really enjoy it I do want to have the option of bringing out secondaries when necessary or even just as I please without feeling gimped.

Crafting is perfectly perfect in every way possible
I won't go so far as to call it perfect, but it's a pretty good system.

Levelling from 1-50 is a real themepark
Themepark design is a general gripe I have with post-WoW MMO design. Midgame content is kind of a thing, but you're whisked through it so quickly that it's hard to really enjoy it (and XIV is clearly designed to push you through and lacks the content to sustain an extended leveling experience). Once you're capped, there's not a lot of reason to go back through those areas.

But it's monthly sub rather than what a few MMOs these days do with one-time payments.
I honestly don't have a problem with monthly subs provided the content backs it up.

the content is incredibly hard in endgame
I agree to an extent, but it leans a little too heavily on strict timing-based gimmicks. I rarely had a problem with it - my reaction time is good and my ping was usually pretty good - but I've seen otherwise good players struggle at times due to bad ping. Punishment for failing a reaction challenge can be severe, which compounds the issue.

Other criticisms:

-Lockouts tend to enforce statics. I signed up to play with some old shellmates and ended up getting very little playtime with two of them because they were already in a progression static. This is exacerbated by party size and lack of alliance format progression content (although requiring 24 people brings its own issues).
-I'm not a fan of heavy vertical progression in general, and XIV doesn't do a good job with it either. This is a paradigm that post-WoW MMO design in general needs to rethink.
-Low quantity of content + lack of forethought in design has caused a lot of bottlenecking issues around patch releases, sometimes even for a while after that. Anything involving FATEs has been consistently awful in this regard for example.
-PvP is really underwhelming.
-Lack of opportunity for creative play. I'm a big fan of exploring things like lowman/solo strats, alternative party compositions (tanking with not-tanks, nonsense like that), but XIV's design heavily emphasizes "in the box" play with well-defined alternatives for the overgeared (tanks switching to partial DPS spec or a DPS class, potentially dropping a healer, etc).

tl;dr I have high standards for my catgirl simulators.

"Privilege"?
Just use the word, lol.
If people are smart, which of course is fairly uncommon, they won't try to start anything/take a swing at you over something that goddamn trivial.

Obviously, but the word privilege is hilarious in this day and age, so I have to use it.

On a different note, has anyone noticed that with the influx of new members to Smashboards in general has come with a lot of fresh blood to Smash...period?

Like worse than brawl. It seems like there is a greater amount of people that dont know **** about the community and its established history, traditions, and norms, and also feel compelled to comment in regards to that ****.
