Lylat sucks not because of its edges it sucks because those platforms are so low, dam near everyone has a utilt or usmash that can reach them.

So basically every combo ends up with a platform tech chase somewhere in it. O and then those platforms are so small that "it dont matter" where you tech or roll on them your getting hit anyways, son.

Basically you never want to be on top of those platforms
I like lylat, but I agree. Popping people up onto the platforms always feels like a guaranteed combo extension.

idk, I like that. if it was a perm starter then yeah it should be a bit higher, but since everyone prefers it as a CP, I'd consider it a quirk that would make it why you'd want to pick it. marth tippers all day long

Lyat is picked sometimes. It's just hard to see it at the premier CP stage for a character. It doesn't have traits that lend someone to go "Yes YES! Muahahaha, this is the perfect stage for Luigi to take Captain Falcon!"

Even if you were to try and abuse it with a strong platform combo character like Marth, you probably have better choices around. With that said, now that it doesn't tilt, I think it's a pretty decent stage that should always be legal somewhere in the stage list.

Hating on skyworld is what all the cool kids do

I don't like it, sorta. I think it's a bit large, and some MU's become extremely unfun. If I cared about playing Ganon anymore, I would probably ban that stage anytime that I could. It would be near impossible to catch up with someone running around. That's the only concern I have with it, but it's similar to Norfair in that regard.

Actually, mostly Ganon. Probably don't want to go to stages like that, he won't have fun.

I was watching the Xanadu stream yesterday, and the Meta Knight player Squeak picked that stage a few times because the top platform was the perfect height for him to do some up-B autocancel trick thing.

Missing the sweetspot on Skyworld with Luigi is rough >_<
but high platforms like Skyloft's and Skyworld's make certain upb's safer like hotdogturtle mentioned.

Also want to respond to this:

I agree with this, and it's actually a solid answer for when people ask "is it possible to have too many legal stages?" Yes, obviously people have personal preferences, and you can play P:M outside of tournaments, and some people use random select for every casual match and whatnot. But when trying to strategize character matchups for a counterpick, there are some stages that you hardly have any reason to pick. All of their qualities, from size to boundaries to platform height/layout, may all be covered by different stages that work better. It can get to a point where you'd never pick stage X because stage Y offers the same advantages plus more.

I'm not necessarily saying that Lylat is one of these stages, but when thinking about the stages that I never play in P:M and very rarely see, it's mostly the same list as other people's when discussing the subject.

Just make Fourside the only legal counterpick. Problem solved.

norfair's generally better for that imo, because whereas there's a select few places MK can sweetspot up-b cancels on skyworld, you can do the same basically wherever the hell you feel like on norfair

on that note, ppl need to learn the timing for shuttle loop cancelling off ledges. if you know what you're doing it can basically create a constant edgeguard

I have kinda a weird request. Can someone link me to videos with snake box taunt edgeguards? I'm asking here because awhile ago I saw someone post a video of professor pro doing it, but I can't find that again.

What exactly makes Bowser beatable? Go.
bowser can't trade with MK fairs, because MK players laugh at the very concept of trading
then, inbetween those fairs, you grab them. like even once. and then you dthrow techchase, because while MK doesn't really have shiek-level techchases on ppl, his dthrow guessing games are relatively good and basically any character in the game can techchase bowser with patience, so you can tapdance your way to a free kill

bowser is pretty painless once you get around his gimmicks tbh

I don't see that much to hate about Skyworld unless you play a spacie, where it's just a giant middle finger to them.
This is one of the main reasons I pick Skyworld. I also just like it in general for Ness for how it gives him more recovery/edgeguard options. Almost always go there if it's not banned

He's fat.

He can be out camped either via projectiles or dash dance gaming. Getting grabbed is a nightmare for bowser. His recovery isnt the strongest due to his big size and linear fashion recovery. So he's gimpable and edgehogable. I also feel that bowser has a harder time getting punishes vs doing the actual punishing.

I do it first off at like 10:10, but it's not as cool looking then lol. The one you're probably looking for is 19:16

is wavedash > jab > grab/JC grab still a thing? Yes?

Then I don't see Puff the Magic Dragon Bowser keeping Mario out forever.

Smooth Criminal
I understand, Anne. Anne, are you okay... with me saying Bowser can still play correctly to evade that stubbiness?

Yeah, what's more annoying about Frigate isn't 2 people stopping to fight, but a combo or tech chase gone awry because of the flip. It's not a huge deal overall, and I'd rather hate the side platforms on Frigate that extend towards the second transformation. That stuff gets silly.
The best way to handle Frigate and Castle Siege: wait for the transformations, get as close to the edges as possible, and just grab your opponent and stare. STARE AND LAUGH.

Oh, and make sure to be a stock up.

Generally the power suit lets her do, well you know, everything. Like morphball, missiles, charge shot, grapple beam, screw attack, jumping.

Speaking of zss why haven't they made a metrotd game where you have the option to play as zss through out the whole game? Or did I miss something?
Picture playing through Prime with only the emergency pistol and no armor. Everything does, like, five tank's worth of damage to you, and you just melt the instant you go into the Magmoor Caverns.
