You don't even know how disappointed I am we were finally gonna get some great footage of all of our top players, I didn't even care that I'd probably be spending the next two days uploading videos. We were gonna put Montreal back on the map and now there's just nothing :(

Oh well, next big tourney I guess...

Edit: Oh btw @ Empyrean Empyrean , Vwins won Melee
It's aight dude. Let everyone sleep on Montreal. Then, next national/big tourney, they won't even get past our gatekeeper Ganons.

I dunno, there's something that makes me angry about Ally's Ike. He's nowhere near as flashy and classy as Metroid, but dammit does he get the job done. I assume he used Diddy in Smash 4?

someone buy me this record
Dude that song is sick.

Do you like post-disco? Because I just started working on three French house tracks that I hope to release after Christmas. I have three solid samples and I've never been this excited before to make something. You guys should totes support my music project once I officially start it.

Also @ Soft Serve Soft Serve I'm lovin' that dank Elfman pic.

Funny how Sakurai makes the single player really hard and inexcesssible to complete on harder difficulties but doesn't like the gameplay of Melee ....

The Great Cave Offensive event was harder than all the Melee, PM and Brawl tech skill combined. I wish I was joking..

That feel when all these hype af sets were never recorded except on mobile phones
That feel when I missed Bam beating Weon-x

EDIT: Pictures
So this is what 200 people in the same room with 45 TVs looks like

Bam vs HHH: The hype was real

Also bonus: What you sign up for when you get into university

... you're trying to tell me there's no footage of Ally owning at PM

and finally beating Weon-X

...
...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c6aWX-b0vM
Finally? He beat him at the last Project TO a while back and that was recorded
Though never uploaded to Youtube cause apparently clicking "Export" is too difficult for whoever's in charge of Twitch stuff in Toronto, but the highlights are sitting on http://www.twitch.tv/acgamesonline/profile

Were some sets at least recorded with a Dazzle or something? I understand the streamer couldn't come, but did someone at least have a capture card?
If we had a capture card we probably would've been streaming, even without our main streamer. So the answer is no. We tried to track one down but no dice.

We did have a capture card but apparently no one could get it to work.
We had the best streaming setup, too. qq

Shopping online is a hassle. Physical retailers are so much better. I buy the thing, get the thing, return the thing if it is defective. If I get it online I have to worry about shipping and ****.

I'm looking at USBs that are compatible for CFG Loader. I'm really only going to have like 5 games max on it and PM on it at a minimum, so I'm going to get like a 2gb flashdrive. Why are some 4gb flashdrives cheaper than the 2gb? I hate hardware so much.

Brawl alone weighs 4.7gb even after scrubbing, Iunno how you expect to fit 5 games including it on 2gb.

I remember the one time I joined an online sm4sh tournament, during my first set, second match was a terrible lag fest. So bad I just ended up forfeiting it. ****'s terrible.

EDIT: Just remembered, but Haikyuu is so good. Every episode when they start the inter high tournament reminds me of smash and it's amazing.

I swear to god Smash 4 would be 3000x better on a personal level if I could just ****ing wavedash and dash dance. (Smash 4's dashdance is pretty hard, I'll get it down eventually though.)

It could even keep the same everything else and I wouldn't care.

I don't even want to sound like "bcuz" melee, but god damn those things really did change a lot, arguably for the better.

I entered smash 4 last night and got double 3 stocked low percent by SS round 1.
I then vowed to only enter brackets for that game with the intent of timing people out with jiggs. I got really close

Do let me know though: Did Ally play Ike in PM?

Does Holy still play Meta Knight? And did Weon-X play Fox or Faclo?

Ally went Ike all the way and beat Weon-x's Fox 3-0 in WF.
Holy still plays MK, though with less success as he lost to Doof 2-0 in Loser's quarters. Even came close to losing a game to my Bowser. In GF, Weon-x switched to Falcon with success, taking Ally's Ike 3-2. In the second set, Ally CP'd Weon-x to Falcon dittos on SV and 2-stocked him before switching back to Ike, fearing his Fox, then taking the set 3-1 with Ike. Otherwise Weon-x went Fox/Falco for the most part.

Nice to know, fellas. Thanks for the link Bazkip but I said "finally" because every Weon v/s Ally vid on the Youtubez has Ally losing. Badly.

And while I will try to not to weep at losing no doubt invaluable 3.5 Ike footage especially with a 3-0 v/s Fox set *twitch* *twitch* there will be footage in the future I suppose.

Well it's not your favorite anime, is it
Well I never watched the anime, I read the manga. I remember it being solid, but I don't remember it being spectacular or any different than most sports manga in its genre.

Whenever I hear about sports manga or anime the first thing I think of is that super ridiculous Prince of Tennis I enjoyed so much

I was casually reviewing Smash for 3ds with my typically demure brother who hasn't really followed the franchise in a while and explained everything was good except that the online play can be spotty and he said, and I quote:

"How is online play not 100% flawless at this point? What troglodyte ape man runs that department over at Nintendo? It's 2014 already fix your multiplayer F*CK."

I agree, but setting up rests is very hard against good players that know to just vector down and buffer rolls away when you land fairs/nairs.
I played it with a GCC, I dont really know how much the C-stick helps tbh. It charging a smash is stupid because then you still cant to perfect retreating bairs or whatever. I set it too attack but I still would rather just use A lol. I'm also not used to just buffer in general and I keep getting rolls when I go for Fairs/Bairs OoS. Idk, its a good game but I don't enjoy it.

Which is fair BUT Sonic has the most popularity in the EU, barely beating out the US IIRC. JP is a far 3rd in terms of Sonic's popularity.

Sonic sells the best in the US as well.

So it's like

What the **** Sega. Cater to your largest fanbase when it comes to Sonic, aka the West.

hold the ****ing phone

let me stop you right here

Sonic is NOT just about going fast.

Sonic is about speed gain through skillful platforming; however speed is not the primary focus. It's clever and fluid level design that is designed around pinball physics.

These are the reasons why S1 - S3K is so critically acclaimed and S3K is lauded as the best sonic game ever by SOOO many.

Shadow the Hedgehog is the result of Sega listening to the fan's demands. The fans demanded Shadow because Shadow embodied what was cool in that time period. Edginess.

If Sonic was made to embody 90s cool, then Shadow was made to embody 2000's cool. So along with the edginess, they grabbed whatever else they considered edgy and cool and gave it Shadow. Guns, Motocycles, A convoluted Story. Everything.

The issue with Unleashed/Generations and to a lesser degree, Colors; is that Modern Sonic/Day Time Sonic's stages all boil down to muscle memory more than reaction and Skillful platforming. Especially if you're speed running.

You can't really boost to win in Unleashed/Generations without prior knowledge to the level map else get hit a lot, especially in lower levels. Once you get used it, then like I said muscle memory does the job for you and you dont really have to pay much attention to where you're going.

Colors is not as bad because there is a greater emphasis on platforming and earning speed through platforming, which is why I enjoy it more the Generations. Generations itself does have a greater emphasis on skillful platforming than Unleashed though, but not as much as colors. The minichallenges kinda help alleviate it but they're all gimmicky. (I do think the best challenge stages are the action master ones though)

It's all fun, but it's not really what made Sonic ...Sonic imo. But of course, because of all the babies that started with Adventure, it's just fine for them lol.

Sonic Unleashed would have been a better game if the scratched the werehog, replaced him with Knuckles, killed the stretchy arms mechanic, changed the night time stages to suit Knuckles' abilities, and labled it Sonic and Knuckles 2.
Alright, now I'm getting the drift, especially considering I've not heard much pertaining to SEGA without it being Sonic related.

Speaking of balancing platforming and speed, I actually had something of an idea. I'd like it if we got an old school Sonic platformer that took a cue from Lost World Mario-esque running command. You'd start at a quick Mario-dash like pace, but pressing the games dash button would let you go full Sanic and begin building up acceleration through half pipes and ring grabbing. It would be like lost world, but your full dash speed wouldn't be that same constant. That would allow the newer players to adjust to walls and oncoming enemies that they weren't prepared for, while speedrunners will still go full speed ahead in Sonic 1 2 3 and Knuckles style pinball physics.

PS: This reply took forever.
