I just realized something. This is probably going reflect badly with the big N. They're sponsoring APEX this year. Of course they may be directly responsible for PM not making it into APEX, but that doesn't mean we don't want them sponsoring other tournaments that exclude PM. Having the big N actually giving a **** about the competitive scene for the first time is huge. We don't want to squander that.

So anyone else think Twitter has just been disgusting the last few days? Not because of the actual idiots, but all the preachers who claim to be better than everyone else blowing up the situation?
I wasnt reading this thread when it happened, but when PM was deconfirmed for Apex I saw way more people were just straight up sad and disappointed than people who were pissed. And then I go on twitter and everyone is talking about how PM players are acting vile and stupid.

Twitter has been disgusting all year.

Personally I feel as if it's not too late. The big N is still sponsoring APEX. They haven't pulled out yet. This makes me think they'll be more cautious in the future about what they sponsor though.

But this doesn't mean they can't sponsor Melee at EVO, or other tournaments for other games. You are correct in that it seems they only care about Smash 4. If they do continue to sponsor events, and other communities continue to suffer for it, then I'm all for severing ties with the big N.

Another issue about the fact is how late in the game it was announced. At least a few people who were going to go to APEX for Project M have purchased their flights, because most responsible adults purchase plane tickets around 3 months before travel. Those people are in a really bad situation now.

I wonder if an earlier release would've even prompted a different reaction? It would've at least saved the plane tickets, I guess.

I said some. Because part of it is his fault for being ambiguous like this instead of just saying the reason.

I had forgotten about that, but it's a major factor too. The man has potentially put financial problems on people if they can't get plane/bus/whatever tickets refunded :/

I would say part of it is his fault but the fact that the harassment leapt out and snared in his friends as well makes me wonder how relevant HIM being ambiguous was compared to it just not being there.

I really do hope plane tickets or whatever can be refunded though, damn.
