Yeah perhaps there shold be a region wide thread. There might be some arguments against items I have missed that need to be addressed and it would just be good in general to have everyone informed of both sides of the situation. I'll work on it today.

Well with the game just getting out to everyone in California, not just people who imported it, I think people would want to explore the characters more. People are still probably trying to adjust on the transfer from Melee to Brawl and probably arent ready to try out new things yet. As time progresses, as we get more of a feel for the characters themselves, we can then slowly integrate items into the mix and see if they have any affect on things.

Just giving out my 2 cents

EDIT: Wow...30 minutes late on my post and there are already like 6 responses...@_@

on a more serious note...

i dont mean to bash on you Hyuga or anything but at what point did you think including items in a competitive game would be a good idea? You couldnt possibly think the smash community would run with it, did you? Regardless of the item it just shouldnt be allowed. There would be wayyyyyy too many " you only won because you had me in the corner with a fan " I say the only competitive game that should have items is Power Stone! ... Again please dont take that the wrong way

If we do it that way you can bet for **** sure that we'll never see items because people will just try to stick with what they are used to, and months of no items will only reinforce that. There is no other way but to be open minded from the beginning. We should start by considering EVERY option available to us and eliminate them as we can. Obviously the menu is so huge that we have to eliminate some things from theory without experimentation. I mean why not COIN MATCHES??? They could be perfectly balanced! In fact I bet most people don't know the real answer to this question so I'll leave it to you all to ponder it. If you read the SRK thread that I've linked a few posts ago, I say why in there somewhere.

Hm...I havent even seen him on the Jigglypuff forums. Wait...He does play Jigglypuff right? o.O
EDIT: Ill respond when you make the thread. It might sound cowardly, but this discussion should be halted here and brought to another thread. Despite the conversation starting here, this isnt the best place for it to be held. So yeah...Make a thread and link it here. Plus, it would be interesting if more people then just norcal contributed to the conversation.

I don't get what you're trying to say. We should ban them because people will john about them? People ALREADY say "you only won because of (insert every possible thing imagineable here)."

I wonder what ever happened to that guy
So do I. He was truly a legend.

Anyway it will be a while before my thread is up because I have to go to school for 4 hours now and then I'm going to the PILLOWS CONCERT!!!! in SF so I'll be home at like midnight >_<

EDIT: And yes it will be in Pac West.

it reaaaally doesn't work that way... very rarely do things get added over time, only banned

just look at the shrinking stage list in melee

if anyone wants to try new rules, now is the time because once people get settled in, there won't be any new additions

I think everyone is just afraid of DBR.

But in all seriousness, as long as teams/singles is done items would be cool. ONLY IF SMASH BALLS ARE ON

It starts at 8pm but I'm sure the opening band will play first. You might have to be 21 I don't know.

Smash Balls would not be on in my proposed items settings. I will explain why when I make my thread. The first post is going to be ****ing massive though so I hope you have the patience to read it all.

It's been a while since I have been to a Smash tournament. Bootle is ready to come back!

Since I thought it might make everything run more smoothly, I have decided to bring a Wii and a T.V.

Get whooped, Ian.

I'm expecting this to be my biggest tournament yet, so I request that everyone TREAT MY HOME AS IF IT WAS YOUR GRANDPARENTS HOME.

I have some fragile things at home, so watch out for those. Stay in the rooms designated for tournaments. Clean up after yourself. Don't touch anything you know you shouldn't be. I have a piano for those who want to use it.

I'll have a lot of chairs, and you can chill on my porch if you want, so I want everyone to be comfortable and safe. I trust this community enough to let 30+ people in (this one could be 40+), including those I have never met before, so I hope you can give me (or at least my house) that same respect.

Just here to say I'm moving PictoChat as a counterpick. I think its just a slightly more ******** PS1, but it has most of the stuff we dealt with in counterpick stages in the past. So if you like it, go for it.

sorry pockyd but pirate ship level is dumb and i dont want to get hit by a cannonball. norfair and pictochat should be ban and corneria. any level that has environment hazards should be ban. This is just my opinion.
