B: Arrows: I suppose Link's will be changed, so WW Link will remain similar to YLink's, but with some sort of twist or something. Also with somewat less large and less charge time required.
dB: Bombs: Chuck em' a bit faster, but a bit weaker.
dB option 2: Skull Hammer: Smack someone sideways hard with a good impact [but somewat slow] hit on land, smash em' down in the air
uB: Spin attack EXACTLY LIKE YLink's, but make it do more impact [not KO'able impact], more of a damage racker, etc.
<B>: Boomerang: Link gets the gale boomerang, YLink gets a faster, weaker, more comboable boomerang!
And way to be lazy Wiseguy! I tied going down that alleyway, but I got in a ninja fight with Raiden, and I ended out cutting off his arm [left one I think], but he kicked me a good distance [a few 1,000 miles I'd say]. Crap happens, ya'know!

Yo John. Check out my WW Link moveset two or three pages back. I've converted to thinking WW Link could be awesome if done properly, and I want to know your opinion on the moveset, what with the WW Link sig and all...
Oh, and guys, I've editted again. The Boomerang has replaced the Bomb Cannon, which is sad, cause I loved that thing. I put the Bomb into the Fair slot, and put in all the throws, edge recovery and tether recovery. Plus I modified the Iron Boots move slightly, as per a suggestion earlier on.
Well, well, well. Link's got his new moveset and, predictably, he's got the TP gear. That means Gale Boomrang, which I think will be great for grabs and pulling characters in for close combat. Now I wonder if you can lock on multiple targets...
But I digress. Nowadays Sakurai will put something in the week that is really interesting and the rest of it be bland (i.e Pokmon Trainer's Week, Ike's Week etc.) or have them all be kinda interesting, but nothing for us to OMG! about.
Hrm, Gale Boomerang... could be cool. But **** it, if I don't get to see Bomb Arrows I'll be sad. Down B, B. How hard can it be to make Bomb Arrows? They're pure brilliance.
Glad also to see that the Spin Attack's been enhanced. But I hope most of his A moves are Hidden Skills. Cause those things were cool.
I think Link so far is a perfect example of the following line from the site from Bowser's update.
"To be honest, there are a LOT of characters that offer a slightly different flavor this time around. If you think they're all going to be the same as they have been, it'll be rough for you."
While Link in a way has the same moves, they also been updated and changed quite a bit. Anyone else notice it was said the Hero's Bow is fast? Does that mean it could be more useful then the bow in Melee? Also, the chargeable up spin attack sounds nice for edge guarding. I wonder if this means the uncharged attack will remain as strong as it was in Melee or if it will be weaker. Not like that move was all that powerful as some newbies made it out to be. Also notice how it says the Clawshot will automatic aim for the nearest ledge. Is this one of the signs of the developers making the game easier for casual players to jump into? I'm thinking of how useful that would have been on Battlefield in Melee. As for Smash attacks...
Remember that screen shot? It came from the Smash Attacks update from awhile ago. It could be a possible sign of new Smash attacks for Link.
Personaly, I'm not too sure what to think about all this. I've always maintained that the Zelda characters, at least so far as they're represented in smash bros, can be sort of a mix of all their appearances. I've never liked the idea of limiting a character to just one game.
But here comes the Link update, and I can see that many of his moves have received the full TP makeover. So perhaps Sakurai IS limiting Link to just one game. Maybe this Link IS (horror of horrors) the TP Link and ONLY the TP Link.
But then I look at Zelda, and although she has the TP model I see that she has no sword, no bow, seems to wield no light magic similar to what she used in TP, and still seems to use the full compliment of Oot-based magic attacks. Zelda in Brawl seems to be drawing from more than just one game, and THIS would seem to indicate that Sakurai is all for mixing appearances as needed.
So I don't know what to think. I'll just have to wait for Ganondorf, I suppose, and see what his new moveset draws from. Will he have his cleaver, or the sword of seals? Will he dual-wield? Will he be given a new sword? Will he even use a sword at all?
Interesting take on that: D air = boots...
It would replace the lovely pogo sword move that dates back from Zelda II... and Link never hurts anyone with boots in any game (does he- am I just not recalling well?), so I'm not sure what I think about that.
If Shield + Bs were added a lot of characters could gain an additional move. Fox's Reflector could be Shield + B, Marth's counterattack, Ness' absorb, etc. It'd be a good place to put defensive moves. We already have Shield + A, so why not?
Originally I agreed with most of this, then, as I was reading it to a friend, I realized that the list didn't feel like there was anywhere near forty characters. It seemed short, and considering it has 42, we found that strange.
The problem, I believe, is simply that most of the additional characters are coming in from the same franchises, and they feel comfortable and are too similar in our current acceptance of the game. This is a list of commonly-held possibilities, but I believe that's the problem. Brawl will certainly be more off-the-wall than this.
My guess is there are at least ten characters on this list that won't be in Brawl (if Brawl indeed has 40 characters). I find that many of your rejects may be more likely, just to add more diversity to the game.

Yeah, in twilight princess you can hurt people by rolling near them with the iron boots on. If the heel of the boot hits them, they take damage. Not really useful, but funny.

That idea has potential. The only snag is that it would be harder to pull of the reflector/counter/absorb moves on the fly. Especially in the air, where you'd run the risk of air dodging instead of doing a move. That could be fatal.
I agree that Ike and Marth could be made complete opposites. I can easily see Marth being turned into a combo-savvy, swift, light, fencer-type battler, even moreso than in SSBM. Ike on the other hand would be the heavy warrior with the big sword that can singularly KO you. It goes with each´s respective looks, too.
But since we´re currently on the topic of Zelda, I´m gonna bring up my Ganondorf moveset. So please comment. I tried to make him all "OMINOUS AURA, I´M GOING TO MURDER YOU".
...But in a totally Smash-friendly way.
RETURNING
GANONDORF
from "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess"
APPEARANCE
Pretty much as seen above. Ganondorf´s sword would be held in his left hand, still in its sheath. He would draw it for certain attacks, combining it with his fists and grappling techniques to bring the hurt in multiple ways. It´d be cool if he were programmed to laugh cruelly whenever he KOs someone, or something like that.
A-ATTACKS ground A - First Strike (quick right hook to the foe´s face) A, A - Blunt Break (clocks enemy up the head with sheathed blade) A-Tilt Up - Dragon Kick (lifts leg high in the air--release for vertical kick) A-Tilt Side - Breathtaker (unsheaths sword to hit foe in gut with hilt) A-Tilt Down - Desert Flame (cape flies upward as purple fire is released around him--inflicts burn, but deals practically no knockback) Dash - End of the Line (grabs opponent´s face and throws them into the ground) Floor Recovery - Trickery (quickly unsheaths sword and slashes before standing straight up) Edge Recovery - Spring Blade (pulls self up with one hand and stabs downward in midair)
A-ATTACKS air A - Second Strike (far-reaching forward kick) A-Up - Magician´s Breath (breathes dark flames upward--inflicts burn) A Forward - Helm Breaker (claps in front of him to crush foe between palms--inflicts burn) A Backward - Surprise Slash (twirls back while drawing and slashing with blade) A-Down - Crater (dives downward, fists-first, creating a shockwave upon impact)
A-ATTACKS smash A-Smash Up - Black Moon (full-circle vertical spinning kick) A-Smash Forward - Rising King (two hits; first punches opponent slightly into the air, high damage and tiny knockback; second draws sword and slashes foe into oblivion, low damage but high knockback) A-Smash Down - Howling Darkness (thrusts sword into the ground; release to make him twist handle, causing dark flames to burst out from both sides--inflicts burn)
B-MOVES B - Cloudy Orb :: Press and hold B to make Ganondorf shift stance and face the screen, charing a relatively small orb of pitch-black darkness in his free hand. The orb doesn´t get bigger through charging, but more powerful. Finally, move the D-Pad in any direction and Ganondorf will rapidly chuck the Cloudy Orb toward the direction indicated, speed and power being indicated by charge time. The move has some lag as Ganondorf gets into position to charge. B Up - Feral Stab :: Ganondorf--stopping in midair--will unsheath his sword and throw the sheath diagonally upward, where it will also stop in midair. He then points his sword forward and instantly dashes at high speed toward the sheath so that the sword connects with it again, causing a shockwave of dark energy and knocking intercepted foes away. B Side - Floor Rapture :: Ganondorf unsheaths his sword and kneels to stab the ground in front of him with great strength, sinking the whole blade in. Instantly while he does this the blade of the sword will burst out of the ground a short distance in front of him, pointing diagonally upward. Release B to make Ganondorf retrieve and sheath his sword. B Down - Reverse :: Similar to Counter, Ganondorf holds his sheathed sword with both hands in front of him. If hit with a physical blow (as opposed to a projectile), Ganondorf will block the blow and his sword will begin to glow. Keep using this to block attacks and his sword will glow more strongly. When you use this move and then press A, Ganondorf will unsheath his sword with a mighty battlecry, which will shoot out purple burn-inflicting fireballs. The strength of the attack depends on the amount of blows blocked.
GRABS Grab - Grapple (grabs foe with one arm and lifts them above the ground) Hit - Rising Knee (knees foe in the gut) Throw-Up - Hurricane Blade (lightly tosses foe up, then sends them away with well-placed arching slash) Throw-Side - Wild Toss (runs a short distance forward, dragging foe against the floor, then hurls them forth) Throw-Down - Floor Breaker (casually drops foe and then stomps them with mighty, shockwave-making foot)
FINAL SMASH - Dark Morph :: Ganondorf transforms into TP´s Ganon, a feral beast about half the size of Giga Bowser. Ganon is significantly faster than Giga Bowser but still very powerful, and can pick off singular foes. Like with Bowser´s transformation, it doesn´t last long and should be taken full advantage of.
Yep. Forgot Zant, who I'm a supporter of. Now for your updated Zelda Characters for Brawl Deacon chart, color coded for your convenience
Link
Zelda Gannondorf Midna & Wolf Link
WW Link Zant
Midna
Tingle Skull Kid
Y Link (Returning) Vaati
Red: Confirmed
Dark Orange: Almost Definite
Orange: Probable
Yellow: Possible
Light Orange: Unlikely
Light Yellow: Deeply Unlikely
P.S: It has already been said by the President of Nintendo that TP takes place decades before Wind Waker. Here's a video that explains it (Comes in 2 parts)
Zant would be a cool addition, but given the various Zelda characters competing for a select few spots (The Big Three, WW Link, Midna and possibly Tingle) I think chances are that he will be an AT.
Zant would be a pretty cool addition, but with
I like you list Wiseguy, and seems we share a similar hate for the broken Sheik, i HATE it when friends play as her/him/whatever the f*ck it's supposed to be
Although i'd like to know your reasoning behind why you think Geno wont be in, he tied for second on the poll, has a large fanbase like you aready said. Sure he's not very important to the mario series, and has only REALLY shown in two games. All im sayin is do you have other easons behind Geno's predicted non-appearance, cause your prediction, no offense, seemed very shallow
As you can tell im a huge Geno supporter, i'd like to be enraged , but you've shown your appreciation for Geno, so i respect your opinion.
I know that Geno is very popular among old school gamers as well as the majority of the Smashboards community, but I can’t help but wonder if we would even consider him a candidate for Brawl if not for Sakurai’s poll.
Remember how the poll worked: people in Japan sent in their email questions to Sakurai along with the character they most wanted to see in Brawl. We don’t know the results of this poll, but we do know the character suggestions of the emails that Sakurai responded to. So, the list serves as a possible indication of which characters Sakurai was interested in (as well as a small representative sample of the Japanese public.) Given that Geno’s name pops a total of 4 times, it’s a safe bet that Sakurai has a fascination with the character.
However, this alone is far from concrete evidence that he will appear as a playable character. As a Mario character, Geno is very little known. As a retro character, he faces stiff competition from the likes of Balloon Fighter, Mac, Mach Rider and ROB.
There are plenty of people who predict that Geno is a shoe in. I wouldn’t mind seeing such a unique and cool character, but for now I’m going to remain the skeptic. My gut instinct is that Geno is a wacky character suggestion that Sakurai felt like throwing out there, but will intimately remain make it into Brawl only as an AT.
And you are entitled to your opinion but other people have their own as well.
Yes, I am awesome.
Oh...by now you should know that I am the huge Zelda fan[I pick and poke at things] and you have a lot of mistakes. In the Fierce Deity and Skull Kid profile[I couldn't bare looking for more]you posted TERMINA as TERMANIA. I know that it is not that huge but the correct spelling is infact TERMINA.
Okay, I'm sorry to bother you with another character list, but everyone else is doing it, so I thought I might join the crowd...

1)Mario
2)Luigi

Paper Mario: I personally think Baby Bowser stands a greater shot, but I’d actually prefer PM. I recently downloaded Paper Mario 64 on Virtual Console, and it is by far my favorite Mario game. Ever.
Diddy & Dixie: Let’s both hope not…
Diddo: One of the coolest ideas I’ve heard in a while. Not only do we finally get a random character selection, but he serves as a Pokemon rep without requiring time for a new moveset. Maybe I’ve found my Munchlax replacement…
Overall, I’d say this is a pretty solid list. I say: 9.5/10
And he's not lame. Pico's actually pretty cool, but Lord Deathborne and Blood Falcon are still somewat possibilities. Still, I think Sakurai hates the series, and is hating on us! XD
HEHE, Johnny Bravo, that made me laugh! I made a Tarzan Mii in case they make it into Brawl, in order to scare people! I should make a Freakazoid, Batman, and Superman (Superman 64 sucks!) King Leonidas Miis.
I've beaten the original 12 times [9 on the first quest, 3 on the Zelda/2nd quest *spoiler*]. SOmehow I always get stuck somewhere....man I love that game! Anyways...that game rocks, and I should get Paper Mario 64 on the VC [since my ROM of it sucks, and my cousins lost their copy of it a LONG TIME AGO!]
I loved Super Paper Mario, but the original is better in every possible way (except graphics… and even those are great for an N64 game.) Download it pronto. It’s the best 10 bucks you’ll ever spend.
I mean retro as in they haven't appeared in a game since before SSB64 was released. And Doctor Mario 64 came out in 1997 I believe, which is well before SSB64's release.
Nintendo has more then enough reason to release Mother 1 and 3. If they were smart, they would and it would sell MILLIONS OF COPIES! The Earth Bound fanbase is probably the biggest cult classic fanbase from the 4th gen of gaming, behind porbably ONLY the Donkey Kong Countries fanbase of course.
Yes, and the ability to freely switch and use 1st and 3rd person view rocks! Man that game could outsell HALO 3 if it goes multiconsole!
Okay, and I found out it's confirmed by Kojima, not theories. I've yet to play MGS2 to be honest [well I played it like 3 years ago...]. Anyways, it's all from MGS3, so here I go. MGS3 takes place in 1967 [I think, but I know it's in the late 60's], and it's the story of Nake Snake [aka Big Boss] trying to stop the KGB leader Colonial Volgin from launching a nuclear tank called the Shagohod, and he plans on mass producing it into a armada.
All you need to do is look at the pics of the characters, and you'll understand. *Spoilers begin* [they're very, very, very long]
The story begins with Big Boss [then known as Naked Snake, which he was named after a WWII hero unit] Halo jumping from a ship to stop a nuclear uprising in Russia, during the Cold War. He is to save and bring back a scientist named Sokolov. After he lands on solid land, he talks to his mentor, the Boss [who he developed Close Quarters Combat with] after 3 or so years. Then after a discussion he goes and does his mission, saves and recovers SOkolov, runs into Ocelot [when he's young, and a KGB factor leader] and defeats him and his 8 or so man force which was also after Sokolov. Then after defeating them, he runs into the Boss, who tells him she's defecting to the Soviet Union, with Volgin right there. Then she beats his a**, and he has to retreat.
Anyways....The Boss is part of a 6 person army that fought in WW II as allies known as The Cobra Unit, her being the leader. The other members are the Pain [a insane man with the ability to contol hornets], the Fear [a creepy fast cameleon and is a super human close range hunter]. Other members include The End [a extremely old legendary sniper with the ability to become one with nature=he's also photosynthetic], The Fury [a flamethrower jetpack soldier with the rage of a insane bull]. The last member is The Sorrow, a soldier who is able to speak with the dead, and is a spirtual medium.
Anyways, The Boss and The Sorrow had a child together, but had to leave it behind [since it was during WWII]. This child was Ocelot. The reason it matters is Ocelot has some of his father's spirtual powers, and some of The Boss's close range combat skillz. Also the Boss was the last remaining decendant of the Philosopher's along with Volgin, who both die during MGS3. This means that Ocelot is the last member of the Philosopher's line, and in MGS3 he takes the Philosohper's legacy.
What is all this...well the Philosopher's is a group made up of special Chineese, Soviet, and American diplomat agents who formed around or before WWI [note it's World War 1]. They together collected over 100 billion dollars, and spread it throughout the world. The all died before and during WWII with their descendants, minus Volgin and The Boss. Why does this matter...well before the American members of the Philosopher's were known as the Philosophers, they were know as the Patriots [this is where MGS2 matters].
The Patriots are a American group created by George Washington [or some big really old 18the Century president or Senator or something around them] used to secretly control the nation. This primaraly controls who is elected as President, and they control everything he does while he's in office. This is against democracy, you see. Anyways, the reason Solid Snake is after this is Solidis Snake is elected president sometime in MGS2. They want to know who they are, and in the end of MGS2 Otecon tells Snake who the PAtriots are...but finds out they have all been dead for over 100 years!
So at the end of MGS3 [the very end] Ocelot [who was believed to be a member of the KGB] declares he is a triple agent, who wasn't actually a KGB leader or a spy sent by Sokolov, but rather a CIA agent and the last member of the Philosophers, which is funny since EVA [look at her profile on that link] thought she took the Philosopher's secret data [containing where they hide the money, but Ocelot is the only one who knows where it is]. Why does this matter=??? Well Ocelot controls who's the president of the USA, he's starting a war in MGS4, and he has over 100 billion dollars then, plus the whole USA government behind him.
Add in the fact that he isn't doing this by his own will [Liquid Snake controls his mind], there are Metal Gear REXs everywhere, and war is what oil was in the 20th century, and you got one hell of a plot twist. Plus Solid Snake is going to Outter Heaven to stop him against USA orders, along with the rest of FOXHOUND. Now that's awsome!
Thanks for that synopsis. I played MGS3 (as well as the Twin Snakes) but I never understood that stuff about how the Philosophers fit into the main storyline.
This is one of the few PS3 or 360 games that I look at with envious eyes. As the final installment of one of the greatest series ever, it’s guaranteed to be epic.
I personally hope that they merge the Ocelot and Liquid personalities, rather than just have Liquid take over Ocelot’s body. It just wouldn’t be the same without Ocelot’s mind-blowing gunplay.
It would be a waste if only one of them [Falco, Wolf O'Donell, Dark Samus, and K. Rool] were playabe, and was original. Why not have 2, 3, or better all of them [proof clones rock]!
Males sense to me. But will Sakurai see it that way? Maybe yes, maybe no. He seemed to have no qualms with including clones in the past, but with so many people complaining about the clones in Melee, he may have changes his tune.
All it says is that Ganondorf tried to take over Hyrule, but lost the war. He was then captured, presumably by the sages.
This fits with the Hyrule A timeline (since it was never revealed what happened to Ganondorf after Link was sent back in time) but it contradicts the Hyrule B timeline, where he was sealed away in the Sacred Relm by Link, Zelda and the Six Sages. Windwaker makes mention of this, but the events of TP are never mentioned.
But Minish Cap explains the begining of Hyrule, it's when Link first gets his signature hat, etc. It had to come first, simply put. Plus in MC that is the first game where it gains the ability to control 4 Links [during the late part of the game], and in FS and FSA you don't control all 4 Links, they are seperate characters, or rather clones. And ALTTP definitely takes place after FSA, since that is where Ganon gets that Trident of Darkness or watever, as explained in FSA. And while you're right Capcom did make MC and FS, they also made OoA/OoS, in which Nintendo also helped in the development/story.
This is why the Camelot games mess up the whole timeline. MC revealed how the first Link got his hat, so it supposedly came first. FSA must come after OoT (since it has Pig Ganon) and before AlttP (because of the Trident). And yet, both games appear to have the same Link and Zelda…
Trying to tie all the games together in one neat timeline is pretty tricky, so I tend to focus on the main series timeline containing all the 3-D Zeldas (OoT and it’s sequels).
So kill Munchlax. Plus Japan is a Sony fanboy paridise. XD Let's just say I'm a anti-fanboy! XD Anyways, they wouldn't know a good game if it slapped them in the face. Seriously, some people in Japan are making a virtual reality sex game. whoa! XD
Anyways, we need a 3rd gen rep [maybe], and I'm almost positive Mewtwo will be in Brawl. So just be sure not to bet against his chances in Brawl.
Japan isn’t Sony-ville anymore. Every living person on that island owns a DS and people are playing their Wiis so much that TV stations are going out of business! They just like Brain Age and Wii Sports instead of TP and the Prime trilogy…
As for Munchlax, I’ve pretty much decided to cut him.I just haven’t decide if I will replace him with one of the veteran Pokemon or someone else.
I'm actuallybegining to think AC humans have a chance, if Miis aren't the AC reps, and aren't in Brawl. And I have a feeling we'll see AC Wii during that one big upcoming gaming conference, or E for All. Just a thought.
I heard AC Boy & AC Girl tag team suggested as a possible ICs replacement. However, I’m concerned that with Pokemon Trainer already confirmed, there won’t be enough room for Mii AND another generic player character…
Good guess, but you forgot Peach [who was the character]! XD And Luigi will probably remain relatively the same [maybe more decloned like I predict]...though the Vaccum Cleaner should be his final smash. Another neat Final Smash idea would be if he turned into a giant luigi [as seen in NEW Super Mario Bros.] That would rock....run over everyone like Giga Bowser FTW!
A couple weeks ago, I would have agree. But after seeing PT, I now realize how much Sakurai loves unique movesets. I think we might see Luigi return will a whole new Vacuum moveset to accompany Ganondorf’s and Young Link’s entirely new movesets. If that were to happen, we could see an entirely clone-less game.
I hope you mean the tether jump and not the stickers. With the stickers I'll make comics of me [Wind Waker Link] pwning Black Shadow and Plusle and Minun. Noob pwnage FTW!
Come on! Anyone with Microsoft Paint and Google Image Search could do that. Stickers are a really lame addition. But at least now we know what has taken up the time that WOULD have gone into online play…
i hate wiseguys newest predictions. Theres no way they would kick out ness or jigglypuff. Sure munchlax is popular but still just put him in with the others. i also dont like his negativity toward pokemon. Pokemon is one of the most poular game series in the world. it owns. its right next to Mario, LOZ, and metroid. I think they should add lucas and ness. i just thinks that he's going overboard with his predictions. but thats just my opinion. Now if you will excuse me i will be having pizza now.
Jiggs would be significantly more awesome with a rocket launcher, like in your avatar.
Don’t take my Pokephobia personally. I know that lots of people adore the series, I’m just not one of them.
I could very well be wrong about Jiggs and Ness being cut, it’s just how I see it at the moment.
I'm dissapointed that Peah doesn't have any Super Princess Peach moves. Maybe it will be used in her Final smash, but I hope she isn't as incredibly strong
You and me both. I was hoping that we’d see Sakurai mixed up a little. I play regularly with a Peach main, so I’ve endured more of Peach’s down Smashes than I care to remember. At the very least, I hope they nerf that move.
Anyone mind if I change the subject and throw out an under-appreciated character idea? Ganon. Not Ganondorf (who I'm sure will return, Sakurai's mindgames be ****ed), but his piggier, more monster-tastic form.
As a character, Ganon brings plenty to the table, including a trident, firebats, and teleportation abilities, any of which could be used for a fantastically original moveset.
As an added bonus, he could work with Ganon as part of a transformation, either player controlled (like Poke-trainer) or final-smash controlled (like Samus/Zamus).
I’m pro- TP Beast Ganon as a Ganondorf final smash. They wouldn’t have to design or balance any moves for him, just let him run around causing mahem. Kinda like a player controlled AT.
Eh... I'm amazed, I've become a convert. I now want Wind Waker Link in Brawl. Why? Well... if implemented well, he could provide a whole new sort of strategy to the game. Here's a moveset I cooked up to show you how he could make a significant change to gameplay when used:
Note: Not quite complete, haven't done the throws and the like as of yet. I'll do them soon enough.
That is one rad moveset. After seeing TP Link’s updated moveset, I’m inclined to think that Young/WW Link will get a whole new moveset derived from Windwaker. Of course, a more tradition bomb/boomerang/bow moveset could also work.
Indeed. I could see BK with a unique moveset, but if they have to save time a Roy-esque clone could also work, since the two shared a similar fighting style in PoR. Either way, I sincerely hope the character makes it. He could give characters like Snake and Ridley a run for the title of “most awesome character”.
from the update on Ike's special moves: "Of special importance is the fact that he is resistant to attacks for a moment right after throwing his sword. This time, there are several moves like this among the heavy characters, so watch out!"
Emphasis on heavy, which is far from Marth. These two characters may turn out to have less in common than you think.
True, his stats are very dis-similar. But we still haven’t seen much of his moveset (beyond two really cool special attacks). There is still the possibility that Ike’s moveset will have more than a passing resemblance to Marth’s so as to ease protests of his removal.
I have a feeling, considering Ike is "heavy", that if they go this route and replace Marth, it'll be with a lighter FE: GoD character: Micaiah, Mist, Sothe, Elincia, Sanaki?
This would potentially take up The Black Knight's space, but I think he's kind've generic anyway, and with only two slots (on your roster) I doubt they will devote one to a hero and one to a villian (I don't know why... it just doesn't feel right in this case).
I started to make a roster before I found yours, and I have to say it's pretty close to what mine would have been.
I could definitely see Miciaiah as a possible second lord (the others… I’m a bit more skeptical) however, if the second character were going to be from GoD, why didn’t they use the GoD version of Ike also?
Anyway, thatnks for taking to timt to read my list and post on my thread.
What's always irked me is that the game is called Super Smash Brothers? I never got that, I mean, who are the brothers? Mario and Luigi? But they aren't the stars, and it was specifically stated that they didn't want the focus on Mario or Luigi. Master Hand and Crazy Hand? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!? Perhaps this will play a part in SE.
In other news: Am I the only one dissapointed that Peach ended up having the same moves from Melee and no new stuff from Super Princess Peach? This is looking bad for the hopes that Luigi will end up being more unique. Sakki said the flavor is diffrent, but it seems that the moves are the same ol' same ol'.
Plus, I really like my idea of having character updates on your Wii and adding more characters into the roster in your Brawl game. They did it with Xbox's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance by letting you get the Hulk, Magneto, Cyclops, and other characters over the internet and letting you pay as them i game, why not do the same for Brawl? I mean, when they confirm Online WHICH THEY WILL!!!
Well, I always assumed that they called in Super Smash Brothers because it combines the simple controls of Super Mario Bros with… er…. Smashing?
Also, I agree that downloadable content would rock, but Nintendo is still taking baby steps with it’s online. I’ll be relieved if they have online multiplayer in some form.
Personally, I think Zelda's moveset is more of an original one designed for a character for Smash, not one based on OoT. The magic attacks shar the same names as Link's OoT magic (as well as the 3 Triforce goddesses) but they are hardly reflective of the OoT Zelda character, since she never used those magic attacks in that, or any, game.
Sheik, on the other hand, is an ability unique to OoT. After this update, I'm even more convinced that Sheik is gone. If not for that stupid interview, we could probably call the character dead and buried.
I agree. Sakurai is far too off-the-wall to predict. Just look at Pokemon Trainer. Still, I think I've got some pretty unique ideas there (Midna/Wolf Link, Resetti, Mii, ROB, etc.) But frankly, I'd be a bit disapointed if only the characters I expected got in. I want to be surprised.
Definitely my favorite Ganondorf moveset I've seen. I like the combination of magic, swordplay and phsical attacks. It also leaves the door open for a pure-swordfighter like Black Knight to appear.
Whatever. Yeah, more sword characters can be a good thing, but over doing it can be annoying. (Ike, Meta Knight, Link, Ganondorf etc.) But you Ganondorf was a good combo betwen the two. All I'd like to see is a character that impliments both physical attacks (Punching, Kicking, Headbutts, Elbowing anything, really) and swordplay, I hope Ike/Meta Knight will bring that to the table. But what I want the most is a new kind of fighting style (That I hope Krystal will deliver on) And a new knd of Projectile, something that rolls on the Ground or is like the wind attack discribed in the WW Link movesets.
^^It seems kinda unlikely to me, sure they brought back the Bumper, but i actually liked the bumper, i wasn't too crazy about the board the platforms feature, and im sure plenty of people will agree (and disagree) with me on that, but as i say, ya never know.
Actually, for those with temporary memory loss, Board the Platforms was a single player mode in 64, alongside break the targets (in the same way that "race to the finish" and "multiman melee" are in Melee...
The way I look at it, returning characters in Brawl seem to share quite a bit in common with their Melee counterparts. Considering that the Brawl team has all the original code from Melee, I don't think then that it's too much of a stretch to assume that returning characters in Brawl are partially cannibalized from Melee.
So, I'd say returning characters really only count as 1/2 to 3/4 of an original character. So all 20 original characters from smash could return, and only take up 10-15 of the predicted 40 character slots.
At least, that's what I like to think to stay hopeful.
Paper Mario: I personally think Baby Bowser stands a greater shot, but I’d actually prefer PM. I recently downloaded Paper Mario 64 on Virtual Console, and it is by far my favorite Mario game. Ever.
I loved Super Paper Mario, but the original is better in every possible way (except graphics… and even those are great for an N64 game.) Download it pronto. It’s the best 10 bucks you’ll ever spend.
I hope not. I love clones. But as a Ganondorf main, I may be unfairly biased in their favor.
Anyway, I doubt Luigi will change. He already had a fully original moveset in Melee. The idea that he's a clone is... well, it's just wrong.
Come on! Anyone with Microsoft Paint and Google Image Search could do that. Stickers are a really lame addition. But at least now we know what has taken up the time that WOULD have gone into online play…
I’m pro- TP Beast Ganon as a Ganondorf final smash. They wouldn’t have to design or balance any moves for him, just let him run around causing mahem. Kinda like a player controlled AT.
Yeah, that would be pretty cool. Well, really cool, actually. But I can't help but think that a playable Ganon would be even better.
Incidentally, in his TP-Beast form, Ganon could easily fit almost any Midna/Wolf Link moveset, due to basic structural similarities. It might be possible for TP Ganon to be a character with Midna/Wolf Link as his clone. Or maybe the other way around. Whatever, I'm easy.
True, his stats are very dis-similar. But we still haven’t seen much of his moveset (beyond two really cool special attacks). There is still the possibility that Ike’s moveset will have more than a passing resemblance to Marth’s so as to ease protests of his removal.
It's possible, but unlikely. This theory basically rests on the idea that Sakurai would choose to reveal only those parts of a moveset that are misleading and don't reflect the character as a whole. I somehow don't see him doing that.
Hm. I'd take from all this that Sakurai seems to value a good moveset above all else, even accuracy to the games, since Zelda has kept her improvised moveset rather than receive a new one. In this sense, Sheik's fate rests on whether or not Sakurai feels her moveset had any value. And the opinion of an obviously crazy Japanese man is anybodies guess.
Sheik, on the other hand, is an ability unique to OoT. After this update, I'm even more convinced that Sheik is gone. If not for that stupid interview, we could probably call the character dead and buried.
Maybe. Still, the updates aren't really helping the idea of Zamus as a Sheik replacement, are they? All the new screen shots of Zamus show her shooting people with that gun and using the whip as a tether recovery. Sheik never did anything similar to that.
Personally, if Sheik goes, I don't want anyone to replace her. I'd rather Zamus get a crack at being a totally new character than be burdened with filling top-tier shoes.

Aw man, ROB, you little *******!
And after all the support...some people gave you, here you (well, two of you, to be accurate) are placing Subspace Bombs for the Ancient Minister!
Aw...
R.O.B. deconfirmed. Reduced to mere lackey to an evil alien overlord.
As is Petey Piranha.
I suspect non-playable villains will aid the Subspace Army. Would it be too much to hope for Andross, Vaati, Kamek, Eggplant Wizard, King K. Rool., and Nightmare?
Not that bad this is more of a kick when your down to Ridley fans nothing more this doesn't mean that much TBH the biggest thing concerning Ridley happened earlier than the update... : (
How?
As I see it, they'll be a boss for each franchise.
Mario-?
DK-King K. Rool
Kid Icarus-Eggplant Wizard (needs to be a rock band name)
Pokemon-Team Rocket?
Metroid-Kraid or Dark Samus
Kirby-Nightmare
Yoshi-Kamek
Starfox-Andross
F-Zero-Deathborn
LoZ-Vaati
Fire Emblem-Dunno.
Earthbound/Mother-that Pig guy
Ah, but will it be Vaati? Or, given the TP setting, would it be more likely for Zant to show up? Personally, I'd prefer Vaati, but pitting the nemesis of Cel Link against Realistic Link/Zelda seems slightly strange.
Actually, what I'd really like is the major bosses being unlockable after you defeat them, because they 'defect' or somesuch. Which would make the main bosses:
Mario-Bowser Jr. Cause he's initially annoyed at his father's betrayal, but then teams up with dear old dad to combat the Ancient Minister.
DK-King K. Rool
Kid Icarus-Eggplant Wizard
Pokemon- Mewtwo
Metroid-Ridley
Kirby-Metaknight
Yoshi-Kamek
Starfox-Wolf O'Donnell
F-Zero-Deathborn/Black Shadow
LoZ-Ganondorf
Fire Emblem-Black Knight
Earthbound/Mother-???
Well... I don't want them all to defect to fight against Ancient Minister. Like... Kamek, Deathborn/Black Shadow and the Eggplant Wizard.
How?
As I see it, they'll be a boss for each franchise.
Mario-?
DK-King K. Rool
Kid Icarus-Eggplant Wizard (needs to be a rock band name)

However, this alone is far from concrete evidence that he will appear as a playable character. As a Mario character, Geno is very little known. As a retro character, he faces stiff competition from the likes of Balloon Fighter, Mac, Mach Rider and ROB.
That's one less competitor for Geno [after that basically offical de-confirmation]. However, don't be sad, he's in the game, which means Brawl is that will be that much more awsome!
Paper Mario: I personally think Baby Bowser stands a greater shot, but I’d actually prefer PM. I recently downloaded Paper Mario 64 on Virtual Console, and it is by far my favorite Mario game. Ever.
whoa...I liked that game a lot [I'm still working on my ROM version=2nd playthru. Once borrowed my friend's and beat it like 5 years ago] I should probably get it on the VC, since my ROM sucks and there are no good PM ROMs.
Whoever came up with that idea is a EVIL, EVIL, EVIL, EVIL PERSON! They caused the death of millions of babies in 2007, and will continue to do so until Diddy is confirmed alone. If he's confirmed with Dixie or someone else as a pair, then God help us save our babies.
Diddo: One of the coolest ideas I’ve heard in a while. Not only do we finally get a random character selection, but he serves as a Pokemon rep without requiring time for a new moveset. Maybe I’ve found my Munchlax replacement…
That would take 5 seconds to make. Grpahically make Ditto, make opponent copies [alternate outfit], taunt exits copy, repeat. That would take 1/1,000,000,000th the time of a clone. XD I like the idea now.
Well if Brawl has online with that new Mii channel coming out...something tells me we'll see a lot of Paris Hilton Miis. O noz...anyone up for a smurf or ompa lumpa Mii=???
I loved Super Paper Mario, but the original is better in every possible way (except graphics… and even those are great for an N64 game.) Download it pronto. It’s the best 10 bucks you’ll ever spend.
I still like the 2nd more, but it goes like this. Super Mario RPG>Paper Mario: TTYP > Paper Mario > Super Paper Mario
The graphics are good because PM is generally the last game that came out on the N64=it came out in 2001 I believe. Start a system with a Mario game [Super Mario 64+Mario Kart 64], end it with a Mario game. [Paper Mario] Same thing with the SNES I think=Super Mario World started the SNES [1991], Super Mario RPG ended it [1996 I believe]. Intresting...wat went wrong with the GCN=too much focus on the Wii! XD
Need...a real DKC sequal. DK64 wa cool, but we need a real platform DK game. Jungle beat is it's own category.....need Mother 1 and 3 [and Mother 1 ENGLISH ROM! ]
Yes, hopefully it has a 360 port [because I'd buy it then]. If that doesn't happen I might just have to go to my cousins [who got a PS3 for Christmas....somehow], and play it there. And it's been in development like 3 1/2 years, and it still gets delayed! It will probably have like 2 hours of real cutscenes, lol!
And the merge of personalities is confirmed. Ocelot will still have some control, but they very well could be fighting for possession of Ocelot's mind and body, be sorta fighting for it, or be allies helping each other out. Plot twissts [dun dun dun dun!]
Males sense to me. But will Sakurai see it that way? Maybe yes, maybe no. He seemed to have no qualms with including clones in the past, but with so many people complaining about the clones in Melee, he may have changes his tune.
All he's shown between the story mode, stickers [with comics], AT's, and the Pokemon Trainer is he has a lot of time on his hand. So I assume we could have more characters than most expected, and clones could play a big roll in increasing the roster by substancial numbers.
Well to be honest, I think Nintendo confirmed TP takes place decades before WW. But that's beside the point. WW's opening could be refering to TP if you think about it. Dark force taking over the land and all...so simply put it could be a TP or OOT reference.
MC also future explained the origins of Hyrule in ways OOT never did. The game seemed to have a earlier, less-developed Hyrule as a civilization, plus other things add to it. FSA has the same Link as FS, but not MC. Graphic wise they are similar, but in MC you actually basically make the Petit Sword stronger and reach it's full potentials [the Four Swords]. In Four Swords Link takes it for the first time, and once "A young boy" wielded it, split in four, and defeated Vatti. [this is all from FS's opening]
King Gustoff was a grown man, and never fought Vatti, so therefore MC takes place many [, many, many] years before FS and FSA. And the main focus should actually be the 2D games, since they have a lot of extra detail snuck into them that no one really knows. The 3D games set the outline and are a lot easier to order, but the 2D games often go overlooked, and are far more complicated. Plus there are more of them....even FS and FSA need to be analyzed as diffrent games.
Japan isn’t Sony-ville anymore. Every living person on that island owns a DS and people are playing their Wiis so much that TV stations are going out of business! They just like Brain Age and Wii Sports instead of TP and the Prime trilogy…
Almost everyone...it's [the DS] still selling. The DS is also going down in Guiness Book of World Records as the fastest selling system ever. 40 million something units in 2 years. It took the best selling system [the PS2] 7 years to reach 120 million, so the DS has a lot in front of it. And they need beating in the head with a stick or something, or suffer from some serious [good] life changing "accidental" fall, because they are lacking brain cells to not like TP or Primes 1, 2, and 3. And to think we think people in Japan are all smart.
My advice: cut: Muchlax, ROB [deconfirmed]. Add: Mewtwo, G&W. BTW, I saw a post that pretty much had unbeatable reasons why G&W should be in Brawl, so I'll try to find a link to it. BTW, did you know the guy who made G&W was the same guy who made the Game Boy, and was Miyamoto's idol=??? He died days before the GB pocket came out, and quit his job at Nintendo or something like that after the ultimate failure of the Virtual Boy, and feeling rejected. IDK, I think that's wat happened. [that's wat I remeber from his wiki article...forgot his name]
I heard AC Boy & AC Girl tag team suggested as a possible ICs replacement. However, I’m concerned that with Pokemon Trainer already confirmed, there won’t be enough room for Mii AND another generic player character…
No way they are replacing IC, but if there is a customizable character and it isn't the Miis, it's obviously going to be the AC humans. We either get PT and Miis, or PT and AC humans, since two customizable characters in the end is a waste, and Sakurai realizes that. So I realize he's putting one or the other in Brawl, since I don't see Resetti as a PC at all.
That just proves he'll add original characters, not stop/not continuing to making clones. And Luigi isn't going to get a moveset around his vacuum [Final Smash maybe], I can ensure that [apparently I'm the only one who liked Luigi's Mansion even a little]. However, I see a moveset that could include his Mario&Luigi RPG moves, or a few of his other classic moves, but I generally see him as a more de-cloned clone. In other words [as I say], SUPER LUIGIFIED! XD By SSB4 he won't be a clone at all, for sure.
Luigi is slowly creepy away from being a clone, and continues so. BTW, if there is a sequal to today's Story Mode [part 3] update, I think that we could see Luigi, since Mario got blasted, and Kirby is all alone. Plus MK and Dedede could appear, along with another Zelda character. WW Link [to heck with TP Link] ftw!
Come on! Anyone with Microsoft Paint and Google Image Search could do that. Stickers are a really lame addition. But at least now we know what has taken up the time that WOULD have gone into online play…
But I'm lazy...Sakurai is clearly looking out for us lazy people! XD But it's better then the banana peel, and takes a lot less time than Google Image Search and Microsoft Paint...sorta. Don't think too deep! I love getting people with the banana peel, that update was so incredibly bad, it was incredibly good!
Also, I agree that downloadable content would rock, but Nintendo is still taking baby steps with it’s online. I’ll be relieved if they have online multiplayer in some form.
That'd be neat, downloadable characters post-Brawl's release. I imagine new characters, returning cut characters, returning [classic, and even redone] and new stages, more stuff, more online details, etc. That'd work, but at least Nintendo's taken a few steps. Now if only they were as keen and on the ball with online as Microsoft.
Vagrant Lustoid, I'll reply to that moveset later, once I'm done reading it and get some sleep.
ROB isn't a PC! And he and his robotic brotheran are trying to destroy the world! This is all Nintendo's fault! If they hadn't abandoned the little dude in the NES era, maybe his thoughts wouldn't have turned to global destruction.
I'll edit my roster when I return from work, and resposnd to the people who posted since my last wall of pain.
(Incedentily, I rememeber what board the platform is now. I guess it's been a while....)
