Misty Terrain halves damage from Dragon-type attacks for Pokemon touching the ground. There you have it.

Goodra has sap sipper...

Poison/ dragon both have resistance to grass

Poison/ Dragon doesn't seem likely, but unfortunately it may be dragon/ water

Goodra ending up Dragon/Water would be a travesty.

Seriously GF stop being morons and just give Poisons the hero they deserve. 5 generations later and we still lack a Posion type that actually kicks ass (Gengar doesn't count since the qualities that make it good don't even involve its Poison typing).

Goodra confirmed to be the psuedo legend... Stats come out to around 80/100/70/115/145 (GATDAM)/90 ... Pure Dragon typing. :(

Apparently doesn't fully evolve until level 70. o.0

EDIT: I take back my previous comment. No need to kiss GF's ass... I'm disappointed. They dropped the ball on this guy. Should have been Dragon/Poision.

NOOOOOOOOOO!

Hopefully they'll make a family of Dragon/Poison Pokemon based off Gila Monsters and Thorny Devils sometime in the future....

I'm still trying to figure out why it didn't happen. It had the looks, it had the name, the reasoning to introduce the unique typing made perfect sense (the one dragon to counter fairies + to breathe some much needed life into the Poison type)... It all just MADE SENSE.

Reason I'm so disappointed was that Goodra was on its way to becoming one of the most unique Pokemon the series had ever seen (and one of my personal favorites of all time)... Now it's just another Dragon that happens to be focused on defenses instead of offense.

Maybe GF saw the typing as too dangerous? A bulky pseudo with insanely high sp def + natural resistance to toxic + Hydration does sound pretty ridiculous I guess...

Just a damn shame.

The Kalos gym leaders.

I like Valerie and Olympia and most of the badge designs...but why is there still no Dark type gym?

Is it because it wouldn't "flow" well with other types or something? Is it because GameFreak has a problem with it being a gym, being "dirty fighting" and all? I'm curious.

The grass leader is kinda "meh", but I'm glad we now have a male Grass type specialist. It's a shame he's not part of the Elite Four, though.

Shortly before Gen 4 was released, I imagined a female Electric type trainer and male Grass type trainer as Elite Four members. At least both are gym leaders now.

Ramos (Grass Leader) is my favorite; reminds me of my gardener uncle.

I like that Goodra is a throwback to the "cute, round dino" look that Dragonite introduced instead of going down "cool" lane. A little disappointing that it isn't Dragon/Poison, but pure Dragon is interesting considering its bizarre concept. No idea what real-world phenomenon/animal they're referencing with Goodra, if anything.

Wonder if having "good" in its name is an indicator of its general alignment, or if it really is just "goo dragon"?

it seems to be a pure fairy and a third evolution. skrelp's evo potentially being poison/dragon due to its name being dragon like...

That's true! Skrelp seems to be based on Leafy Seadragons... let's keep our fingers tied.

Well I guess that would make a lot more sense for the reasoning behind Goodra's Poison type denial.

But then again this news would mean I can't use Skrelp on my team since I'm already using a Dragon in Tyrantrum...

Mega Gardevoir doesn't look as bad as people are saying, it just looks like it's wearing a big fancy dress

Almost like a wedding dress

Because she's the fans waifu

So yeah, looks like Yveltal is 717 in the National Dex. Even with Z? and possible event Pokemon, this looks like the smallest Gen yet.

Not sure if Mega Pokemon make up for anything though.

I heard Vivillon is number 666 in the National Dex.
I want to be disappointed, but they probably disregarded the number entirely. I'm sure it carries more weight in the west than in Japan.

And there I was, thinking the Megas would be a bonus to a bountiful new dex. I would have cut megas in favor of new Pokémon had I known we'd only be getting about 80. I'm torn, because some of the Mega designs are phenomenal, but they're eating up the Kalos dex! So long as we get twice as many Megas as currently known (17) then it'll be expansive enough. Favorite Kalos Pokémon:
  • Delphox
  • Phantump & Trevenant
  • Pumpkaboo & Gourgeist
  • Skrelp & Dragagle
  • Tyrunt & Tyrantrum
  • Barbaracle
  • Goodra
  • Malamar
  • Noibat & Noivern
I feel I'm cheating by listing those, because that seems like such a large portion of the dex. I care so little about the legendaries now. Still curious to see Z and the promo. I think the [small] size of the Kalos dex hurts only because Unova introduced SO MANY. Had this followed Gen IV we wouldn't be complaining as much.

Everyone who was expecting a huge amount of new Pokemon along with all of these Megas were being unrealistic.

It sucks that we're most likely only getting around 70-80 new Pokes tops but at the same time I'm not all that upset nor surprised. We have over 700+ freaking Pokemon now that's insane and with over 400+ Pokes available in game it leaves the player with more options than ever before.

And who knows maybe I'll eventually warm up to Mega Evos... Strong emphasis on maybe. I still think this gen will kick ass regardless.

Not to mention that the design team had to create ~800 3D models and animations nearly all from scratch, plus they're hopefully preparing for the REAL Gen 6 games... The Hoenn remakes... Hopefully.

Oh god... The Hoenn region... In full 3D...

My body is not ready.

EDIT: Oh and what's up with GF only introducing ONE new Ground type...? I mean Diggersby is cool and all but... damn son just one?

I think that's a pretty up-to-date dex. I count 66, including Z, plus there area still a few spots open and no sign of the legendary trio yet. Megas not included. That doesn't seem too bad to me.

Should we keep in mind that Y may have its own few exclusives and there'll probably be a few more legendaries? I'd like to see some more evolutions of previous pokemon. Not so much Mega, but actual Evolutions.

Well damn...that sure is something? If Yveltal is Destruction and Xeneas (or something) is Life, what is Zygarde?

I know it says Order Pokemon but...I don't quite understand to be honest ^^;

It makes sure one doesn't create too much and the other doesn't destroy too much
