That's okay x)staravia, and sorry, I was thinking of D/P not Platinumsorry
Despite the fact that she can't really get a Banette at that point in the game and can't get this either, I'd also like, for future reference to note using Compoundeyes Butterfree with thief. Despite not being able to tell if the item is actually attached, you have an increased chance of encountering one that's holding an item, so it'll still take less time even though you always attack at the beginning of battle. I used this method when trying to get heart scales on Diamond when I had a broken bottom screen (thus, I couldn't go to the underground).Wild Geodude hold them I believe.
Once again, if your looking for items on pokemon the easiest thing to use is a frisk banette with thief.
For the Gible...honestly, I'd probably keep on breeding until I got a jolly nature, but if you're lazy, then I recommend either #1 or #2. #1 is evened out as far as nature goes, and #2 gets a bonus on its ATK. Personally, I'd take the ATK bonus. And...for Houndour, that #5 is actually a desired nature for a couple of its competitive sets, so at least from that aspect I would say that you can definitely train it up to make it of decent use.Well, it took me the rest of the day, but I caught a Rhyhorn (to breed with Gible), found an Everstone (though it took several hours in the Underground and countless Geodude encounters), and caught both a male and female Houndour. Plus I plopped them all in the day care (not at the same time, of course) and got at least four eggs from each. Then I hatched all the eggs.
So what pokemon to use?
I have the Ralts baby picked out, but some help with the others, please?
Gible babies:
All know Tackle and Scary Face
#1
Male, Quirky, Somewhat vain
Sand Veil
#2
Male, Lonely, Sturdy body
Sand Veil
#3
Female, Modest, Mischievous
Sand Veil
#4
Female, Careful, Proud of its power
Sand Veil
Houndour babies:
All know Roar, Smog, Bite, and Odor Sleuth
#1
Female, Timid, Strong willed
Early Bird
#2
Male, Timid, Scatters things often
Early Bird
#3
Male, Modest, Thoroughly cunning
Early Bird
#4
Female, Sassy, Strong willed
Early Bird
#5
Female, Mild, Quick to flee
Flash Fire (finally)
#6
Male, Timid, Mischievous
Early Bird
So I got 5/6 Early Bird. Ew. Should I breed a new batch of Houndour, or go with Baby #5? (I named her Droun... I give them weird names.)
I really don't know much about stats and EVs and stuff, so yeah...
And is it possible to EV train them from level one?
Well you don't HAVE to, it's just slightly recommended.Okay, thanks!
... I will keep breeding the Gibles...
Nah, I'm going to. ^^Well you don't HAVE to, it's just slightly recommended.I always breed for the right nature and ability, but that's also why I currently have about 60 Slowpoke sitting in boxes right now too (and I still don't have what I want). -.- I don't think it'll take that long to get the right Gible though, just giving a heads up on how long it could end up taking if you don't give up.

Well...I don't think there's a difference in the mechanics of evolving them at different levels, so sure, you can do that. Although I'm pretty sure you're asking if you can evolve it at lvl 37, not 49.Nah, I'm going to. ^^
I want a good Garchomp! ... well, first a good Gible, of course.
Question: Should I keep Gible from evolving until level 49? All evolutions learn the same moves (except Garchomp... learns Crunch) but they just learn it soooo much slower.
Oh, good luck getting your Slowpoke!
Ha, I could imagine that. 60 Slowpoke in boxes... woah. That must cost a lot in day care fees.
What nature/ability are you going for?
Oh, duh, 37... Hah, I was thinking Gabite!Well...I don't think there's a difference in the mechanics of evolving them at different levels, so sure, you can do that. Although I'm pretty sure you're asking if you can evolve it at lvl 37, not 49.Gible is finished learning moves at lvl 37, Gabite doesn't finish until 49. If you wait until 37 to evolve your Gible, you also won't have to worry about missing Crunch if you were going to use it, so that's also a plus.
Meh, 60 Slowpokes isn't too much for me.The majority of my boxes are actually filled the breeded Pokemon. Oh, but the nature/ability I'm going for is quiet/own tempo for the trick room team I'm trying to create. I got a quiet natured one, but it doesn't have Own Tempo.
I actually have a method for getting money and quick exp (after EV training), so I never actually have to worry about such things as daycare fees and slow leveling.![]()
It's no problemo, I have quite a good share of blonde moments, and I'm a guy. XDOh, duh, 37... Hah, I was thinking Gabite!
Thanks for telling me, I probably would've had a level 49 Gible and then when I got Garchomp I would've wondered what happened to Crunch. xD
Today must be a blonde day!
Oh, that sucks... good luck finding the right one! For battling... non-in-game? How do you phrase that?
My wireless is all screwy, so I don't worry about after the game much. Although my dad said he would fix it, but that would mean I would have to train them for EVs and stuff.
Err, good luck non-in-game battling, too!
Yes!Question:
If an Alakazam with Synchronize used Rest, would the opponent be put to sleep?
Blonde moments are love. x)It's no problemo, I have quite a good share of blonde moments, and I'm a guy. XD
Hmmm...I'm guessing you'd call it competitive battling. :\ And actually, I tend to eventually reach a point in each of the games in which I just stop replaying and just keep training what I have, even if I have no one else to play with. Just a thing I like to do, I guess. Probably for bragging rights when I meet people who do restart their games over and over again.![]()
Actually, no. Sleep status is never induced via synchronize; not even when using rest. The only statuses that are induced are burn, poison, and paralysis, and the rules to inducing such statuses also apply (such as a steel-type can't be poisoned).Question:
If an Alakazam with Synchronize used Rest, would the opponent be put to sleep?
Well, I actually do know a few girls who play Pokemon, but I'm pretty sure only one of them plays consistently.Blonde moments are love. x)
... I guess you don't get too many girls on pokemon...
but my friend and I love Pokemon. I guess we are freaks >D
I can never bring myself to restart my game. Well, except for Emerald... but for every other game I want to restart it but I would miss all my Pokemon... and this friend I mentioned earlier and I spent hours and hours on building up our Pokedexes on Diamond. So, yeah. We would kill each other if one of us restarted that game.
How do you get their levels up after you've had the game beaten for a while?
Mine all stay stuck in the 70's because I can't find Pokemon to battle against at a high enough level. And because I'm lazy.
Synchronize doesn't pass sleep (or freeze), even if the opponent makes you sleep. If an Alakazam with Synchronize used Rest, would the opponent be put to sleep?
Whoops.Actually, no. Sleep status is never induced via synchronize; not even when using rest. The only statuses that are induced are burn, poison, and paralysis, and the rules to inducing such statuses also apply (such as a steel-type can't be poisoned).
My friend and I compete to see who beats the Elite Four first... I normally win ;D But yeah, I know some people who have the game and play it once a month or something.Well, I actually do know a few girls who play Pokemon, but I'm pretty sure only one of them plays consistently. The others all just play on occasion and may not even get far enough to beat the Elite Four.
I actually have a lot of patience when it comes to training, so...I'm not sure if this strategy works for you, but I definitely love it. Once they're around lvl 50-60, equip them with a lucky egg (or not...it's not required) and take them to route 222. Bike to the left and right on the shoreline about 1-2 times and then when you hit the west wall of the shore, use the vs. seeker and hope that the fisherman fishing closest to you wants to fight. Then...just fight him. He has two lvl 53 Gyarados that know rain dance, dragon dance, hydro pump, and hyper beam. I'm actually in class right now, otherwise I'd give a link to a map with arrows to show you what I'm talking about. :\
The other thing I do is mainly for fire-types or those with high ATK that would suffer greatly from Gyarados' intimidate. Just take them right north of the resort area and kill a bunch of the grass and bug types up there. These probably aren't the best strategies, but they are rather quick and easy; albeit a little boring and taxing.
Nicht zu danken. My patience is never very high. But I will try that, thanks!
How many lucky eggs do you have? I have one... And it took forever, so I decieded that one is all I need.
c3gill covered the secret to cutting your time down, so I don't need to cover that part. As for the natures...I'm guessing you want to keep volt tackle on whichever is chosen, so I suggest Dumbo. Kichi obviously works too, but I just think Dumbo's a better name.Okayyy... about the Gibles I bred and stuff... well, after breeding and hatching another twenty-two freaking Gibles, the twenty-third one that hatched had a Jolly nature, and is Alert to sounds. Will this work?
I sure hope so, because I am really beginning to hate Gibles.
Over 10,000 steps to hatch...
As opposed to Pichu, who only takes 3,000!
Speaking of Pichus, I bred a bunch of them and they all know Volt Tackle... help deciding, please? =)?
I fail at picking out natures.
And names. I did not name these, my mom and the friend who plays Pokemon did. So, sorry. Some of these names (most of them...) suck. But they make me laugh!
Actually...after I threw my trusty slugma into my team for quicker hatching, I actually had the issue of waiting for another Slowpoke egg to come from the daycare more often than I had the issue of having to wait for an egg to hatch. But yeah, that's usually what I do. I figure that the eggs won't be hatching any quicker sitting in a box as it is, so why bother grabbing them immediately?Don't know how you can stand breeding and hatching 60 Slowpokes... and do you get five eggs, then wait for one to hatch before you get another?
Magma armor has the same effect; don't forget that.Soy- FLAME BODY!!!!!!!!!!!
its an ability, and it cuts the number of steps you have to take to hatch an egg in HALF! if the pokemon with Flame body is the first pokemon in your team.... use it when breeding! 5000 steps is a lot less than 10000.
magcargo is pretty easy to catch, just transfer one or catch in (stark mount?).
Oh, same!Nicht zu danken.
I actually only got one lucky egg as well, and I had gotten it before I realized I could use thief to steal the egg, so I ended up wasting a lot of time catching about 20 Chanseys just to find one lucky egg. I figure that I don't usually train more than one Pokemon up as it is, so it's really not worth it to get more than one.![]()

Kichi obviously works too, but I just think Dumbo's a better name.I don't know what all other physical moves Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu learn though...apart from Focus Punch and Grass Knot, that is. I never really looked into using one. :\
Thank you!Soy- FLAME BODY!!!!!!!!!!!

if you breed properly, you can easily dish out pokes fast- but breeding for ideal stats and natures takes a longggggggg time. just get a system and keep to it- hop on your bike and race up and down, as soon as you have space drop the hatched pokes in a box and keep nabbing eggs, after you get 10 or so you should check them out and keep only the ones that are decent- trade or release the rest, they just take up space.
if you keep the bidoof in your boxes, it will keep the virus- the virus only spreads in your party, and is in a dormant state while pokemon are boxed away.I just somehow got Pokerus on Platinum o.o I was raising Buneary and somehow she got it. Is there anything I should be doing with it right now? I deposited bidoof (hm slave) into my pc thinking he would keep the disease.
Should I try to send the bidoof over to my diamond version or something, so I can keep it for later? I've never had it before so just wondering how I can keep it just in case it comes in handy.

I don't know about the fly thing, as I had never heard of that, but the mudslide thing only worked in 3rd gen.To: soysoy
I'm pretty sure that if you fly in and out of solaceon town, a new egg will be available every time you check back in with the breeding center. Once you have 5 of them and a slugma/magcargo, try finding one of those mudslides that you need mach bike to get over and then tape down the up button. I'm not sure this works, but if it does, you wouldn't have to do any work.
If it doesn't work, just use the good ol' bike path.
The entire mechanic behind Pokerus can be found here. To: urdailywater
Pokerus helps you get EVs faster. It's a good thing; don't try to avoid it. It will spread to everyone in the same party as your buneary, and will spread through pc boxes that it is in. So be happy.
Eventually the pokemon gain immunity (designated by a little face icon on thier summary pages). I'm not sure how the effect ends, but I'm pretty sure there's no way of stopping it. I once had almost 50 pokemon with the virus, and all of them lost it despite the fact that some were used heavily and others not at all. I think it's just based off of the game's internal clock, whether or not the DS is on.
Or just rebreed so that you don't waste your EVs.ev training is good with pokerus and power items, i do it with my lucario, milotic, garchomp and just recently my tyranitar. it helps in the long run if a pokemon has a good nature. for example
my Tyraintar has a docile nature, nothing is affected thats good but
my lucario has a sassy nature, uh oh we got a problem special def up but speed down. EV train in speed so u can move out and take on the competion, it works for me
POST #1000! WOOHOO!Okay, so I'm raising my new Heatran (AKA Rexflame)...
I've got the 252 EVs in Sp. Attack, but I'm wondering what I should do with the remaining 258. HP, Defense...?
His nature is Gentle, which ups Sp. Defense but lowers Defense. It's a bit frustrating to raise a legendary due to the lack of breeding, but I don't need Rexflame to be really uber, as in Scizor-counter uber, I doubt I'll go out and try to be THA VERY BEST until Gen V.And I'll try and find a Shuca Berry, which negates the double weakness to ground.
But should I give him 64 extra HP to make him more durable overall, or Defense to give him a boost in physical durability? Y'know, in case my friend hacks me and makes something like a 252 Attack EV Murderous nature Rhyperior with an Earth Plate...
._.;
First off, if you get a Heatran and plan on using it, you need to get a nature other than Gentle.... because your starting off on the wrong foot.Okay, so I'm raising my new Heatran (AKA Rexflame)...

But as I said, I don't need this Heatran to be a Scizor-countering monster. All I need to know is which stats I should pump 252 + 6 EVs into, given its Nature. >_> It's too late to go back and recatch the darn thing.First off, if you get a Heatran and plan on using it, you need to get a nature other than Gentle.... because your starting off on the wrong foot.
Go Modest, Timid, (possibly Naive or Rash as you dont care about SP.D., generally) - minimum of 216 speed is what you want, most sets run max though. You generally also want max Sp. Atk.
