Actually I've been thinking about naming my Lucas guide Phyrgia's Notebook - The Ins & Outs of Lucas ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°). A sexually suggestive title referencing some "unique" characters in the series. Though Ionia would in a way make more sense considering... well... What do you guys think, title suggestions are still open too :p

YES. MAKE THAT THE TITLE, PLEASE.

But change it to Ionia, and switch out that text face thing with a heart icon.

Yea that would've made 10x more sense so I'm going to do Ionia. Geez though that scene was so... LOL. The Mother games have made me cracked up so much with it's stupid dialogue.

That scene... I was about to post here asking if it really was...

Nevermind.

I can make a video with silly Mother 3 edits to go with the guide, if you want.

I was going to go with the The Boy of PSI or Mastering PSI / PK Love but it seems like everyone like silly suggestive titles more then serious cool ones haha. Oh well, I feel like it fits perfectly with the nature of the Mother series and will express this guide well, especially going to need some helps with making this guide silly with the help of you guys here. I want to make it a enjoyable guide to read that looks pleasing to the eye (I plan on adding a lot of Mother images to make it look prettier :p)

Things get all kinds of steamy when the Magypsies are brought up. :troll:

To make matters worse, Lucas learns PK Love after that happened.
Geez I know, I feel for our boy Lucas but according to the wikia he was just being drowned in the water so I'm not worried :p

EDIT: Time to make my favorite thing something inappropriate so he learns something really inappropriate after said scene...

I just started my playthrough again and I already feel like crying lol. Idk why the story hits me so hard.
I love that one scene in chapter 1 (you know the one) so much because
despite being spoiled about Hinawa's death it still got me so hard. The scene is so powerful not because of a character's death, but everyone's reaction to it, particularly Flint who just lost it. Everything from the way Bronson delivered the message to Flint to the rampage Flint was causing in front of his own children who just witnessed their mother's death. Considering how Tazmily never experienced a tragic event before I really appreciated how blunt Bronson was since he didn't know how to handle the situation right. The fact they had to lock up Flint in prison (the first person ever to go there) really was absolutely disheartening. The village was scared of Flint even though his actions were understandable, think about it.

Flint is a fantastic character. His role in the last chapter was perfect. I honestly felt for him more than I did for Lucas

That was especially how I felt too. I already know the Mother 3 story but for some reason that scene still gave me chills and had a emotional impact on me. Though Flint started making me laugh, I know it was suppose to emphasize on it but... lets just say I feel bad for laughing. Also c'mon that one guy... GOOD JOB RELAYING THE NEWS BRO. Hey I have some good news and some bad news. I FOUND AN AWESOME DRAGO TOOTH THAT YOU CAN USE AS A WEAPON! Oh but the thing that sucks is that I found pierced through your wife's heart =/

wow all these spoilers and i havent played this game
Well I mean they don't really ruin the story though. Knowing there's some Magypsies (assuming you even know what they are) isn't huge and Lucas drowning was only an implication (but kind of obvious) of what happens in the scene. They're really not that large as if we said something like "Oh Lucas dies in the end."

That's exactly how I feel and you put it more eloquently than I could have ever done. Honestly the story has to be one of the best, if not the best, that I've ever seen in a video game. It's had such a huge impact on me.

I just encountered this enemy and lets just say he reminds me of a Gurren Lagann character so I'm going to make a reference to it.

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM? THIS IS THE PINCER THAT WILL PINCE THE HEAVENS

Like I understand a lot of people interested in Lucas want to join in the Lucas hype and will start playing Mother 3 (I mean a few people here already have) so I avoid spoilers. The ones you've seen so far (assuming you stayed within this thread) aren't really like story ruiners like knowing Lucas has a dog or something.

Mother 3 has to be one of the best examples of "show, don't tell" when it comes to story telling in video games and that scene is one of the particular reasons why. The specific character I mentioned didn't even talk once during that scene yet he was the most human.

We were at the beach,
everyone had matching towels,
someone swam under the dock,
and there they found a rock!

But it wasn't a rock... It was A ROCK LOBSTER!

One thing I really like about Mother 3 as well is the seamless transition from cutscenes to gameplay. It's so natural and lets you be engrossed in the story during both gameplay and cutscenes. And that scene was POWERFUL.
And afterward when you talk to the villagers and they're all mourning Hinawa. Even if we don't get to know her much, the villagers' reactions fill in the blanks.

These are the exact reasons why I love Mother 3 more then Earthbound and of course many others. I mean it's expected though because Earthbound is its predecessor and it's still a fantastic game but Mother 3 will always be the best for me. Not only for the reasons you stated but you overall feel more connected to the world and characters more, they have a "personality". I mean c'mon, in Earthbound did you really care for Paula / Jeff / Poo that much? Yeah they were cool characters and I didn't hate them but I didn't love them either. Not much is said about the characters and they themselves don't speak much through words or actions. You don't at all feel connected to them.

Mother 3 is amazing at conveying emotion through sprites alone, and I love it.

I'll admit, I never cried in Mother 3, but I'm just the kind of person who won't cry even when I want to.

But Mother 3 is one of two video games that got me close to tearing up. The other is Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan 2 (I'll group them together) and their christmas/sisters level (respectively), another perfect example of "show, don't tell" and I even understood the latter perfectly despite not being able to read Japanese. Though unlike Mother 3 those are short stories that contrast the rest of the games' ridiculousness.

I actually only played Mother 3 for the first time ever last summer and it's already so special and memorable for me. Here I thought no RPG could possibly live up to Persona's story telling but I was so so wrong. I won't lie, I have my small issues with it from a game design perspective. But when it comes story telling? It's perfect.

Sorry to change the topic real quick but should my guide feature a character's detailed match-ups section? I think I should emphasize on playing against defensive play-styles / aggressive play-styles / spammers or something.

Presumably your fridge.
So I started my Mother playthrough and...dang it's so cool hearing the original versions of songs that got remixed for Smash. Makes me appreciate said remixes a lot more. Like, Magicant sounded gorgeous even in 8-bit tune. Wow.

Same here on the crying part. Mother 3 was the closest I've gotten to crying because of a game.

Its actually funny because it literally translates to: Is it OK?
Yeah I actually read that today actually on Starmen.net, that's why I said it fit perfectly haha. Yo Mr. Mod I beg you, use that please haha (if the Ness QA forum isn't using it though, we aint frauds)

EDIT:
LOL can't believe Phyrgia's Notebook was actually used but I feel honored. I suppose it was a good idea I decided to use Ionia's Notebook for my guide.
