I really wanna know what Lucas' remaining 3 costumes are.
I'm betting they're either old ones from Brawl, or at least similar color schemes.
A DCMC shirt would be incredible though.

That was merely done using 3DS Max and Paint.net for additional effects such as the glow and the Ice Shards. I could export my Lucas model and give it to someone who can rig.

What you see in the picture is not in-game. Just a recreation of my mind while we're waiting for our boy Lucas.

If I had to guess, I'd say the remaining colors are red, blue, and purple from Brawl. They likely only showed off a few in the trailer to showcase the new ones, with the exception of the Claus color swap because.. c'mon, it's Claus.

With those three, it would make a total of 8. I'm just going out on a limb and saying the green/red one will be cut because it's.. subjectively not as nice-looking as the others.

So, what do you people plan to do once Lucas goes live?

I'm gonna start by messing around with him in Training Mode, get a feel for him and experiment with his tether grab/recovery.
Afterwards, I'm gonna give him some custom equiptment and play Classic Mode until I beat it on 9.0. All-Star on Hard comes right after that.
Then I'm gonna play some Smash Run as Lucas.
Finally, I'll fight every single character on the roster as Lucas, including Lucas himself (with the Masked Man skin) and the Miis. Finally, I'll fight a Masked Man Mii, 5 stock, no items, FD.
Then maybe some For Glory.

Oh, I can't wait.

It's such a fantastic, emotional game and it's making this wait way more exciting for me.

I think Lucas is going to end up as my strongest secondary.

The realization just hit me, magnet pull will probably be a tech again guys, either that or a "MAGNET CANCEL".

If Wavebouncing is back than means Lucas the potential to glide across the stage and tether the ledge at the other end of the stage just for style points.

Think of all the approach options. It's insane.

Since you guys were talking about tech, I was thinking, wouldn't it be pretty crazy if Lucas could do something like Jab > Grab? I know characters like Luigi, and Palutena take huge advantage of this already, so if Lucas could do this, I think he'd be amazing. What do you guys think?

I'd die for Kuma to be in Smash. Same for Duster, really. But to be frank, Lucas takes plenty elements from both, which has me feel that their spirit as a Smasher is sorta ingrained on Lucas.
(Duster's kick moves inspired Lucas's "leg-only" physical moveset + Rope Snake Snake Rope, Kumatora's PSI-moves comprise all of Lucas's Specials, possible PK Ground-inspired Down Smash. )

I really hope we get their colors as one of the alts.

I've been trying Lucas now out in Brawl, though I think the game's engine makes Lucas's potential feel less fun overall. He has such fun and quite flowy moves, but since Brawl is really floaty and defense-oriented, it hinders that enjoyment on him.

So I think Lucas might feel "unleashed" when I'll get to try him out as a DLC. Mostly gearing up to test my custom controls and feel into his potential combo/string game with good range and also experiment with specials. I find it quite fascinating how you can sorta push your opponent to the blast zone via PK Thunder when they try to recover.

Kind of, although retreating SH PK Fire in Brawl is really good, and will only be better in this game with the extra 4 frames of shield drop and people's dislike of AD-ing into the ground from the air.

But yeah Lucas feels so smooth in Brawl, I can't wait for it again in smash 4. :D

The Duster part is quite true, but it doesn't stop Nintendo from making it a Mario-Luigi thing, have them both have the same moves while still having unique ones to them for example: Mario and Luigi's forward air, down air, forward smash, up and down tilt being unique and the other moves that are the same have different frame data, knockback, %, etc. Also Duster would have completely different specials since he uses crap like Wall Staples, Hypnosis and that siren thing. He'd be like a Lucas and Mewtwo hybrid, christ that sounds awesome.

As what I did with Mewtwo, I'm going to hop right into a match completely blind for fun. I love figuring out a character as I'm using them for the time, heh. After that, I'm definitely going to dive into training mode to test what has changed from Brawl and figure out his combos/movement options/potential tech. Most particularly, jab lock setups and prior PK Fire techs. I'm extremely curious to see what he has to offer in this game!

baaah I can't stand the wait.. Mother 3 will have to hold me over until then.

I honestly can't decide whether Duster or Kumatora would be the better additional Mother representative.. Kumatora is a cute character with a lot of personality and charm, but I feel like Duster has a ton more moveset potential with all of his thief tools and would add variety to the Mother cast, rather than just another psychic child. (not to mention Lucas already uses Kumatora's signature PSI moves in Smash.)

Lucas represents the entire Mother 3 party. Kuma with his Specials, Duster with his Rope Snake, and Boney as an actual costume. It's pretty cool :')

Also he'd be a semi-clone of a semi-clone. My head hurts.

TBH though, Kumatora wouldn't be a bad "clone" for Lucas either. Just change the kicks to punches and like, which will, TBH, make Kumatora also quite sensible "clone" to Lucas.

Wow, I'm actually quite surprised how many ways this can go just by Lucas alone.

In my opinion Duster has potential to be a interesting and silly character that'd be really good to represent Mother 3 because in my opinion his moveset doesn't necessarily have to be restricted to his special attacks. Though the main problem is that his snake is taken by Lucas which is kind of like one of the few iconic things about Duster but it'd still be interesting of what we could whip up for him in terms of a moveset. We could also just bring Jeff in too because they probably have equal amounts of potential but I think the chances of either them getting in is probably low either way but lets see what we have to work with here first!

There of course may be some items missing but keep in mind I also left out some that wouldn't make no sense but if you want to add some more that thinks it'd be good in a fighting game than you can do that too. I'll probably make a moveset for fun later but this is all I got right now. The only thing I can think of on the spot right now is Jeff's Up B would be Bubble Monkey and Duster's Up B to be the cage full of pigeons. Bags of Dragonite could potentially be Jeff's Smash attack. Some of the items here listed I'd imagine to work as Diddy Kong's bananas (I think it's obvious which one...) or a paralyzer item to be like ZSS's paralyzer. I didn'tl ist all the Thief Tools cause I'm lazy.
