I am guessing... "scrubs" are those who are into tourney play, understand the costs, and chances of losing, but are really lacking in experience or skill (nevertheless, they willingly put forth effort and money to battle). "Noobs" are those who are still innocent so to speak (they don't play competitively or even KNOW about it and the odds of winning at all).

The difference in taking money from the two would be similar staging a war to involve newbie soldiers (although new, they have enlisted, had some boot camp, and are legitimate soldiers) and doing one to involve civilians.

The former may be brutally beaten; the latter will just get slaughtered. *not to mention that the latter may be considered a warcrime by some folks* O_O (referring to the civilians example.... ^_^)

Scrubs john and display baseless arrogance to cover for their lack of skill. Usually they've been playing for quite some time but suck regardless, hence why they're bitter.

Noobs are new and just don't know any better but are genuinely willing to learn and improve.

EDIT: Lol @Kenny.

honestly tho, what's the difference?
o.O lol
As far as I understand them:
  • Scrub - n. - A person who insists that others follow rules made up by that person, regardless of what the actual rules for a given competition are. (e.g. "That scrub kept insisting that I stop camping and 'fight him,' even though he was the one who picked Corneria.") See the TVTropes article for more.
  • n00b - n. - Someone who is inexperienced or inept at a given activity, often used derisively. (e.g. "That n00b kept spamming thunder even though he couldn't hit me with it.")
  • newbie/newb - n. - Someone who is inexperienced at a given activity. Unlike n00b, this is typically not used derisively. (e.g. "I just started playing Pikachu last week, so I'm still a bit of a newbie with him.")

1 out of ??? (Will edit later)

I beat chaz in winners semi's 2-1 and my brother in winner's finals 3-0. My brother reached to grand finals then forfeited. At home i decided to split the money with him, but its still a legit win.

Back from Pound, tired as ****.

Tourney was fun. I met a whooooole lot of people I've known on the boards for a while, so it was great to finally see them in person. I'm sad more Pikas didn't show, though..... just me, Kenny, and Kyoshi.

I only did doubles (teamed with TUSM). Went Pika for two matches total: one win, one loss. Rest of the time I went Zelda, which was a stupid move competitively but reaaaaaaally ****ing great fun-wise.

Won vs. some random team (2-0)
Lost vs. Excel Zero + LingLing (0-2)
Won vs. another random team (2-0)
Lost vs. Kenny + NKB (0-2)

Even though we didn't place spectacularly, I had so much fun doing doubles -- in tourney and in lots of friendlies. Sucks that this thread doesn't count them, because I really think I'm gonna find a long term teammate and stick to doubles exclusively for a while. Singles is boring to me now. :urg:

I didn't.... I didn't get to talk to him that day until after he was out. :( I was watching my crew's matches since they were all in the same area.

I played him in a bunch of doubles matches, though, and watched his doubles bracket matches vs. Vex + Pierce. And my crew was supposed to do a crew battle vs. his, but it never happened. :ohwell:

Needs more random teams. I liked fighting Excel Zero's Peach, it was way better than any Peach I've even seen. Also, Excel's and Ling Ling's teamwork was unbelievable. They capitalized on every single opportunity.

K9 and NKB had a solid team as well. My only complaint about that set was the first stock in game two. We got owned. We managed to bring it back to a close game, though, so it wasn't so bad. I loved how K9 kept baiting a grab just so NKB could run up from, like, d*mn near across the stage and Usmash me after I throw him. Also, I should've picked a bigger stage, maybe like PS1 or something, so KayLo could have space to CG effectively.

Well, there are my two cents.

PS1 would've been a much better CP if I'd stayed Pika, but I wanted to go Zelda really badly..... and her recovery gets ***** on that stage because of the weird ledges. :urg:

Double Zelda vs. double Pika is amazing, though. =D

yaaay. pound was fun for the most part.

I didn't expect to get out of first round of pools but I still almost beat jtails anyway >< Ran onto my own snake dsmash game 3 ftl :( Everyone who made it out of my round 1 made it to brackets except for Kool Aid who apparently got ripped off.

Everyone that I played in doubles were PA related. Xzax+Keitaro, What's her name and TUSM, and Vex and Pierce.

Kaylo is pretty good at landin dem lightning kicks offline o=

Kenny there's an upstate NY tourney next weekend, so you'll get results for 3 pikas to add to the list soon :p
(if last night's smashfest is any indication, my results will be terrible)

1/30: 17 out of 34 @ Syracuse Smash 2

Bry: 9th out of 34

Pikapika: 4th out of 34

I played absolutely terrible at this tournament, I got embarrassed by Dmbrandon second round of winners and then I came up against a remotely competent Diddy in losers, which is when I suddenly realized I don't know the diddy matchup AT ALL. So I pretty much just ran around like an idiot while he wrecked me. I'm pretty frustrated right now =(

3rd out of 26 in doubles if that counts for anything XD. I mention that because it is the first time a pikachu has placed top 3 in a West Coast Regional! lol

Yeah...Shaky was just never good before so I never really got good experience...but now he is really good (BEST NESS IN THE COUNTRY?!?!?!?!) But yeah...wario is a pain in the balls too. Have a good set against Waft-Oli, a pretty good wario with some good mindgames/prediction. My set against chaz is meh, and my set against shaky i get *****...i get hit by PKT2 twice in the first match then switch to diddy cuz im scared...

^Next thing you know Peach will be our hardest match up.

I was wondering the same thing about chaz though. No marth vs ya?

Updated for ESAM/auto.
