Pikachu's tail grows with the hitbox.
Just like Mario's arm in his Up B
Or Dk's foot with his Bair
Or Mario and Luigi's foot with their Nair

It's common with a few characters, it usually indicates the strong hit/ weak of of a move.

As for me not using Pikachu..

I've used him in bracket matches you turd.

No, it does not, check it in slow motion via training mode

Look at this picture
2496284-pikachu.jpg

In the first image, due to Pikachu's posture, I'd say it's his U-Air with "Melee" based qualities back (look at how long his tail stretches!)

In the final image I have absolutely no clue what attack that is...but since his tail is thicker looking in this pic, I'd say it's a smash maybe?

Im not picking a main till i play the game. that said Pit and ZSS look most interesting thus far. Pikachu with out all his QAC stuff and a slightly altered moveset sounds mad boring TBH. i guess we will wait and see how it fans out when you can play him though after uprising + looking at the changes for him pit looks like he has wicked potential. + with being able to alter your move set a bit considering half of uprisings content was a royal crap ton of weapons that just sounds like win. ZSS with laser heels sounds legit.

would have like to see pikachu with an electro ball volt tackle and iron tail TBH but W/E

and megamans final smash stirred my inner fanboy just a bit.

But my original point was; Pikachu's tail grows longer in smash 4 then in Brawl, just look at the picture above...

I'm going to specifically main Pikachu, since I have no other intent but to infinitely improve the "Tail Play"

@ hell-dew hell-dew : Customized movesets in smash 4 is going to be banned from competitive play. We don't know if Pika has QAC or not yet. And I've only picked my main already because I aspire to work at a character until they are my best.

Not that we > need < QAC. Few Pikachu actually utilize QAC properly, nor do they actively use it

I don't see best, I see better

Since wifi is going down in May 20th and we have a little over a month to play on servers I've decided to ask you if any of you would wanna play me on wifi. Wifi's not that bad until you play with someone that has bad connection.

It might not be, Sakurai only showcased specials as being customized,
And it really only showcased two options (Mario)

And it could possibly work in regards to how you can transfer tags to a wii through the controller (Wii Mote)
So the Wii U Pro might have a similar function, allowing you to have custom movesets on the tag you use, allowing it to move from wii to wii without much issue.

Don't shoot it down before we have a chance to even check it out.

@ 1PokeMastr 1PokeMastr : I suppose you're right. I just don't really see them liking that kind of customization with the possibility of making certain moves destroy the balance that we may possibly, finally have. I guess I just expect them to only want base movesets, for the sake MU knowledge.

@ Player -0 Player -0 : Sorry, we you're right, we should get back on topic.

@ Mr.Pikachu Mr.Pikachu : Slightest lag can throw off an ICs, haha

On topic? This thread is decently active, and even says "social" on the thread title, plus we're talking about Pikachu; I'd say we're pretty on topic and up-to-date

Off topic: this is the most beautiful song I've heard in a while

I HIGHLY agree with the customable moveset, it'll add a HUUUUUUGE amount of variation and uniqueness among players, not to mention it'll allow for a VERY diverse moveset if Sakurai adds many custom attacks, much better than the standard 4 attacks. This custom attack system seems similar to Touhou HIsoutensoku

??? Who made that ruleset?

Seriously, moveset shifting is probably not a bad thing - if a character has an 'obviously' superior move (Ex: Falcon had a Falcon Punch that activated twice as fast for 1% less damage but no knockback shift, you'd consider it fairly obviously better), then we're functionally banning a better character because Sakurai didn't make that the default. Which is silly.

Also ZSS has no armor pieces to start a match. Saddening.

Anyone have good advice for Pikachu/Sonic? Or more like advice versus Sonic in general? I'm okay at dodging most of his (fairly lackluster) KO moves but facing Sonic is just really annoying...

Spin glitch = ? (I thought Yoshi's seemed fine and never ran into issues, now I should know if I end up with no bans because 3 of 5...).

Also 1Pokemastr, I can see why Falco would chase Sonic, but I prefer just shooting lasers at him when I play Falco vs Sonic (which seems a little easier to me right now - I'd like to fix that).

Poke kinda has the sonic MU on lock with falco or at least he has meek on lock :p and falco can kinda body the hell out of sonic. if he runs away lasers up close Falcos CQC games just murders him. watching that Mus makes me feel bad for sonic lol.

you fight some terrible sonics >.> if they dont know the spin glitch their probably not terribly well versed with the character. its one of sonics best gimmicks if he gets that stage its the most rage inducing annoying crap to deal with and it gives him free CPs. letting him get the lead and turn your match into a load of BS

I practiced against trueblu down in flordia for a while although i was kinda a mad scrub in florida but i learned the MU well enough to take meek to last stock and a fair bit of damage (like 60ish) fairly recently and hes a way better player then me skill and experience wise. i did ok against kid goggles to but i fought him a while ago and was just much worse in general would love to rematch him know that my basic knowledge isnt godawful.

When someone asks something like "advice on this-or-that MU please?" it means having to type a gigantic ass inaccurate text wall, it'd be MUCH easier just to do one question regarding a specific aspect at a time. I mean seriously, this isn't difficult people...

Example: "Bell, how can I counter Sonic's Spindash?"

Like damn, it's not like I'm asking y'all to solve a difficult geometry problem...****

I asked what the glitch was, not about how much you rage at it, geez.

Also it was a few friendlies so we just hit random, we didn't end up on Yoshi's but I hadn't figured at the time it would be a bad stage to go to in a tournament (Except now there's some unexplained glitch I know about...). So you corrected me that it's a fine stage but if I get CP'd there because no bans or something, I'd appreciate knowing what it is and how to counter/prevent/deal with it.

Okay, so Bell or Poke or hell-dew or ESAM or Anther or Pikabunz or SOMEBODY, what's this glitch on Yoshi's that Sonic has?

@ Thor Thor Alright, I wanted to find a vid or a thread explaining it well enough but I will answer you now.
Basically, if sonic grounded Side B spin dashes on the slanted parts of yoshi's islands(theres more stages it works on but you said yoshi's) he will achieve invincibility threw anything until the spindash is over.(A way to test this is to place a motion sensor bomb in the middle of the stage and do the glitch)
I probably would have answered you sooner if I was not trying to figure out how DK does his invincibility glitch with his up B on that stage.

So wait... he could get the percent lead and (if there wasn't a no stalling rule) grounded Side+B charge for 8 minutes to win? Thank goodness for the rule "Stalling is banned." [I'd argue permanent, glitch-activated invincibility makes the game unplayable.] Though I can see strategic use of this would still be awful for the opponent (just wait a few moments to catch one's breath and think some stuff out). Or does he have to actually start his spindash (I could hit him out of the charge)?

This makes sense other than my one question. Thanks PZ. If you know/others of any other [borderline-]legal stages this works on (Frigate, Rainbox, PS 1, Delfino, Halbird, the other neutrals) this works on, I'd appreciate knowing that so I can now where I have to be sure to watch out (and ban if I can).

The invincibility is only present during the spindash's uh...dash, not the charge. The spindash has to be done on the edges of YI, elsewise it will bounce at the start of the dash, dropping it's invincibility

In the rain.
It is worth mentioning, though, that you can still clash with the spindash while it's invincible to just stop Sonic in his tracks (hint hint shoot a jolt when he's charging it at the ledge, or jab him out of the spindash), and he also loses invincibility once the invincispindash leaves the ground (ie when he jumps out of it) or when he turns around in it...so if you shield the spindash and see him turning around towards you (which puts him in a lot of lag btw) then just run up to him and punish with grab/dash attack/usmash/whatever you want really.
