You can use whatever! Our best player uses a Wiimote+Nunchuck!

The general rule is, bring your own controllers. Most people use GC controllers as well (Captain L is the exception), so extra Wiimotes would probably go unused. Bringing you Wii would be very helpful though. =] Just be aware that some players don't like playing with texture/music hacks in tournament, so they might pop out the SD card if they have to play on a hacked Wii.
