People just say those sort of things to bug the fanatics. They definitely don't think about how much they love eating a hamburger because cows are killed to make them, it's just cause they taste great.

Sure, maybe there are some people who really just enjoy eating hamburgers cause they are the product of killing cows, but I think that most sane people will enjoy eating because you need to eat to survive, on top of their great taste. (if you don't think hamburgers taste good you should quit doing LSD so you taste them instead of hearing them)

Except for me, I raise my own cows/chickens/turkeys/dogs/deer/rabit/squirrels just to kill them, then I just eat their hearts and throw away the rest of the meat.

just playing the part. I hate people who feed live animals to pet snakes, I would never do anything so heartless as raising and killing animals just to do it. Or harm any animal intentionally at all for that matter.

except cats, sometimes you really do just have to throw them into a microwave to teach them a lesson or two.

What's so bad about feeding live animals to snakes? Snakes need to eat, and if you're going to keep one as a pet you should take care of it the best way you can.

I once met a girl who told me she refridgerated baby mice and microwaved them before feeding them to her snake. <3

If the snake was in the wild it would do the same thing. Should we feed it chocolate now that it lives indoors?

The thing about snakes doing that in nature is that they aren't in nature in your room. They are, most commonly, in an aquarium or other type of container. This makes the snakes job infinitely easier as it practically eliminates any furry animals natural defense, which is flight.

Yes, the snake needs to eat, but you just force death on the little critters. I guess it's a pretty peta feeling of me to have.

At least the girl who refridgerated them didn't throw them in alive and helpless.

You mean the way the snake normally eats them?

If you think the refirgeration method is somehow better ask yourself this. Are the mice that are refrigerated dead? How do you think they died? Natural causes?

The baby mice died of old age.

One of the things that these PETA nuts don't realize is that petroleum consists of the remains of ancient plants AND ANIMALS. So if you'd like to truly practice what you preach, PETA, kindly eliminate the use of such products as gasoline and plastic from your lives.

Oh, and MLK, Ghandi, Mandela, and Jesus differ from you in that they were all NON-VIOLENT.

also, Jesus fished.

yeah but what bothers me is that people don't think about where that hamburger came from, they just think about their right to eat it. they don't think if it came from a plant that abuses their animals and workers and the environment, ect....

I think what Brookman's trying to say is that people shouldn't own snakes as pets. I agree. :p

first of all way to flame. most plastics are horrible for the environment already.
AND oil/petroleum consists of the remains of ANCIENT plants and animals. that died of natural causes and sank into the soil. I don't see how that applies.

Do I have to tell you off EVERY time you come to this topic? This topic is about PETA, NOT ANIMAL RIGHTS. I love animal rights every animal should have them!

Read the very first sentence! That one right there. Its about PETA, not you or animal rights; and you don't have any right to put a dying cow into every persons brain when they eat a hamburger because that would be violating THEIR rights.

PROTIP: Bahamut is not really forming the first and only MLK-jesus-Ghandi anti-PETA organization, he's using absurdity as a means of humor.

But even if he was, your not an official PETA spokes-person so why are you speaking for them? For all you know, PETA could be considering Baha's advice right now and putting it into practice.

Why do you insist on trying to derail and inflame a topic that was for giggles about PETA into some amateur animal rights debate? You have a perfectly good topic for that about 2 topics down.

It's pretty clear that the topic has evolved into more than just "giggles about PETA".
And please don't lecture me on violating people's rights, when you apparently don't give two shits about mine (freedom of expression/speech).

Also this sentence is pretty hilarious:

This topic is about PETA, NOT ANIMAL RIGHTS.
edit: I am posting in that other topic, kthnx

PETA =/= Animal rights.

PETA = Anti-human

Essentially.

Don't bother, I've tried in just about every language but Klingon.

And yea it has been somewhere in here Lixivium, thanks any way though.

Hey you know what? Your right, I don't care.
Listen I see a lot of your points and even agree with some. You don't have to be downright insulting... who died and made you lord shit over all forums, dictating what can and can't be said.
Heaven forbid a conversation about animal rights comes up in a thread about PETA. That's like expecting Oil not to come up in a thread about the middle east... or something... >_>

CogSmooch, I would give a lot more credence to your complaints about being insulted if you hadn't been antagonistic since your first post in this thread.

yep much better to keep the blindfolds on our children and blinders on their parents. if it doesn't affect them directly they don't give a ****. god bless america.
The debate was pretty tame for a while, until you posted this:

To me, that sounds pretty freaking condescending.

It was after this post that Varuna started to get a bit more nasty. You use this sort of abrasive, patronizing, heavily sarcastic posting style and expect people not to respond in kind? Give me a break.

I'm not denying that Varuna and others could have replied in a more mature and thoughtful manner, but the same is true of you. I don't think you've got any kind of high ground from which you can berate others for being insulting, because some of your posts are just as insulting as anything Varuna's said.

lol to be fair I wasn't even planning on being an active poster on this thread when I wrote that first comment ending with God bless america. I was just trying to be snarky and sarcastic and a ****. ^_^
And yes sarcastic is my style and it can be abrasive. But I was mainly upset at being told not to discuss animal rights/cruelty in a thread about PETA. So yeah sorry if I offended anyone.... this is a topic than can quickly become quite heated....
peace.

OH!!! I KNOW, I KNOW!!!

I agree with PETA for many of the things they stand up for and i don't think this is silly at all. Just because we are superior to animals, it doesn't mean that we should take advantage of them. I'm not against eating animals or anything, but animal cruelty is a totally different story. I have a soft spot for animals and seeing fish getting caught and gutted was always something that always made me sick to my stomach, killing anything really. Anyways, PETA makes a lot of points. My favorite has to be their holocaust on a plate slogan and i totally agree with it.

lol, this thread is not about PETA's stupidity. I honestly don't think this is stupid at all. >.< Little fishies <3

It's a little stupid. Fish farming is much worse and is a bigger issue than individual fishing. Sport fishing is another subject that I'm not sure about.

That's right, because killing for fun and not eating it is way better then killing a mass of fish an eating them.
