Anyone have a friend who always has to be right? I do and it's annoying as hell. Ex:
Friend: computers hate me (they always mess up one way or another with him)
me: (sort of jokingly) impossible, computers don't have feelings
Friend: how do you know?
me: they run on code, they are made to perform specific tasks, they are machines
Friend: How about those movies where machines have emotions, that proves they can
me: those are movies, they aren't real
Friend: well I believe that they do

Honestly why say something that you know to be complete bull just for the sake of trying to win a debate. Whenever he runs out of bs reasons he ends up changing the subject. His logic is so flawed half of the time that I don't even bother debating it.

He doesn't actually believe that it's real, but I think it leads him to believe there is a possibility. I can tell when he is saying something for the sake of trying to be right because his tone of voice and way of speaking changes.

That's what I think. I think he realizes that he's wrong, but he's just saying that anyways. Don't worry about. It's who he is and just accept it and try not to fight it. It sounded like you were being more literal than necessary in the first place.

But seriously, This guy I went to TAFE with. Oh my holy god he was annoying like that. He believes that you can learn to play actual guitar by getting good at Guitar Hero, he thinks reincarnation is a part of the Christian system of beliefs and is convinced that the cities of Melbourne and Geelong each have one single defining main street.

Another guy from work is absolutely relentless in what he thinks is right. When talking about the Amytiville Horror movie, he was adament that Ryan Reynolds was not the leading male actor, even though my (female) manager, who is thoroughly infatuated by him and has followed his career so would know, was telling him otherwise along with me backing her up since I retained that little bit of information when viewing the advertisements shown on TV for it when it was airing. Also thought that a suburb of the city of Geelong didn't have a highschool, despite two girls who go to school in that area telling him that there was.

It's actually not a big problem at all and doesn't happen too often. And I don't really get angry just annoyed a little bit. It is also kind of amusing when this happens because I just with I could record it and play it back to him sometime. Friends will always make you angry at one point or another.

You should have heard the "conversation" I had with my brother once. He accused me of lying during telephone conversations, so I asked him when. He said, "all the time." I told him that answer woldn't suffice and that if I have truly lied all the time on the phone that it would be extremley easy for him to mention a specific example, but he just dropped the accusation.
