Quitting Olimar all together. He was six months of wasted time I could have put into someone better, top tier Mr. Game & Watch or something. You won't see me 'round these parts again. I'm always up for a Brawl though, just hit me up with a PM.

Gosh excellence, good riddance, hopefully he'll drop to low tier without you. You and your contributing.

Anyways, good luck with Wario.

This is why tier list is Bull ****. You don't main a chracter because you want to win easliy, you play because you favor your chracter and will own all with that chracter.

Wario? Psh, no. I like Wario, I really do - what could be better than fartting on someone's head for a KO - it's just Mr. Game & Watch is where it's at. Over-powered Smashes, god-like Bairs, and excellent 'combo' ability. I couldn't resist.

I actually don't pay too much attention to the tier list, after the top six I have no idea who's where. I through with Olimar because of his ridiculous amounts of faults and over-exploitable weaknesses that I'm tired of working around. Why work around when you can simple choose someone who doesn't have to deal with the problem at all? I've played Mr. Game & Watch in Melee where he was two-dimension garbage, and I'll play him here where he's a 2D god.

just curious, did you have a bad tournament outing? I ask because I've seen my friends switch mains because of one bad outing. I had an embarrassing outing at palmdale biweeklies, but it had more to do with me than olimar. Olimar is really the only character I am able to use in this game. I'm kinda good with kirby, but it's whatever.

besides, it's cooler to win with olimar because he is considered "average," so nobody can ever ***** about an oli player being a tier ***** ;)

He's considered below average by many.
Low priority (besides up air and upb)
He's not Mario, and Louie is not Luigi.

He's cool.
He's quitting him, it's his own choice.

Good luck with whoever you main next.

No, actually I placed second out of thirty-two in the last tournament I went to and that was PLAYING Olimar. He's a really terrible character and I'm tired of working around faults and becoming good, instead I'll have no faults and own.

G&W is always looking for more people to help out ;)
I main G&W because he is amazing, but I just love Olimar so much more! Pikmin is one of my favorite series, and sadly Olimar's faults keep him from my first choice. But how could they be THAT bad? AMAZING grab, some good kill moves, GREAT projectiles, WAC, he has a lot going for him. Only true fault I see besides the small ones every character has (well... almost everyone... MK >>) is his recovery. As much as it gets him gimped, there is times where nobody else would be able to make it with his HUGE tether.

Uhm... no. You must constantly train with a character to keep your game sharp and ensure that yourself steady progress, however Olimar lacks any real depth. Why waste time using a character who lacks the potential to go anywhere? I didn't just randomly pick a top-tier and call it a day, if I did that I'd be a Meta Knight. I chose Mr. Game & Watch because he can actually go somewhere, unlike Olimar.

I said MetaKnight. Which is basically the punch line of my JOKE. It's a JOKE. Get over it.

When you say you need to constantly need to train with a character in Brawl I laughed. There is no technical aspect almost whatsoever in this game that you need to train to stay sharp. One of my friends was gone from brawl for a month and came back and after a couple matches was as good as he was when he left off and I'm pretty sure I could do the same.

Try that in a game like melee where if I took a week off I would notice serious consequences.

this isn't a game where you neeed to stay sharp to play good

if i can pick up olimar and play him at a semi pro level against another same level MK in under 12 hours, despite the gimps. Then i think something magical is happening.

I could do the same in any game really. Most people can unless they played a game where it looks the same in their mind but in reality isn't (As in, Playing Brawl then going to melee would be a hard transition as you have the feel for one or the other)

Did you play melee competitively? Just wondering, really. Thinks like multishining edgeguards or shinebairs with fox (just 2 quick example) and certain techniques required such precision it really was hard to maintain the level of caliber without practice. Sure the main things like L-cancelling and all was easy to come in and do without practice, but the real high level gameplay was hard to keep up without practice.

Yes. You can in any game. The reason people may do badly in melee now is because the look is kind of the same, but their minds play like it's Brawl now. Remember when Brawl came out and it took forever to kill people for the most part? (Doubt our Olimar mainers felt that way, but people who were picking Marth, fox, falco, shiek for a little while surely felt differences).
Same thing. The tech skill doesn't go away much. However, when we pick it up (Say, if we lived close to eachother and you are like "Show me then", it would take a couple matches just like Dabuz's friend took. Maybe more, yes, because there are techs and whatnot to remember how to do.. but yeah, same thing. WC3, Online games, chess, sports (Unless you became unfit), it's really all the same. Muscle memory or past memories really.

To answer your other question, yes, I played competitively, however at the time I didn't drive around and had more stuff to do. Now that Brawl is out, I enjoy the game again so I can play it competitively and drive long distances for the game I guess.

Summary- Yes I played. Yes, it should be as easy as not riding a bike for years and trying again.

I myself am switching to ToonLink as well. Though Im keeping olimar a secondary, I realized I prefer the fast characters that are great in the air.

Spammier doesn't mean better in the air!
Kidding. Hope you luck. The kid has some nice things goinf for him. Maybe one day, after Olimar defeats Toon Link, we can get whatever the beast has swallowed to allow him to float when he points his sword downwards.
Ah, what an interesting item!

Toon Link? Hmm....interesting choice. I like to blend characters that blend with each other's match-ups. I also tend to look for characters which do well in tournaments. Thus I picked Snake.
For good measure, I threw in Ice Climbers as an anti for R.O.B. and MK.

P.S. You're a Smash Director? *salutes*

I don't blame you guys that don't main Olimar anymore. (snake secondary here) I mean, this game is about matchups. If your character doesn't have the matchups you need to win with, then if you want, you can just pick up an easier character to use and win with him.

I like to use Olimar because he fits my style and he's unique. People see an Olimar and they're like, "wtf, is that an Olimar user?" Then when I continue to beat them, they say stuff like, "I never knew how much potential he has. Or maybe that's just you. Either way, nice Olimar man." I get that feeling inside like I'm unique and different. Using MK doesn't get you that feeling though. People tend to look down on you because you main such a good character. I digress though...

Good luck Excellence. Despite the tone of your posts, I enjoyed reading through them. thanks~

Quick comment, DanGr.

I didn't quit Olimar because I felt as though it was easier to play someone high-tier (which is now Mr. Game & Watch), I quit him because he lacks depth. Whatever depth Olimar has, Mr. Game & Watch (just an example of one of the many I chose between) has double if not more. A lot of you may not realize it, and probably won't agree with me (though I respect your opinions ahead of time - baring anything completely idiotic), but there isn't much Olimar can really do because of how his moves simply do not 'connect' together well. Down Grab to an aerial and so forth can only go so far before it comes banal.
