japan isn't small really lol, tons of fanboys and fangirls there.
Hell even chocobo tales is a ****ing greatest hit there.

Believe me, they'll buy ****ty games and be fanboys/girls there. They even have a ****ing game on DS where you touch the girls in the right places.

but in gaming consumption, they're a mega conglomerate. just look at why tales of vesperia and xbox360s sold there (huge market boom). You can't not consider them a large gaming market industry/consumer.

most of the gaming companies are based in japan. The big US majors left are really EA, Valve, Blizzard, Epic. There might be a few more, but there can't be much more. Squeenix is one of japan's top, along with namco, konami, and capcom. console developers like sony and nintendo are based in japan.

A game's success is no longer defined by selling a lot in Japan, and it's been that way for a long time. Americans and Europeans buy more games than Japanese do; it's just a fact. Yeah, they play a lot of games. So do we, and we have more than double the population. The Xbox is a perfect example of that -- sells like crap in Japan, but it still doesn't matter.

arent nintendo and sony based in japan?
I don't get why this matters.

for the most part the largest game companies are in america and japan. If I remember the consumption of games is mostly american in europe, and not even japanese games, while america has a high consumption of american and japanese games. Japan doesn't have a high consumption of american games, because they're really baised on a nationalist level.

actually there is a small argument that dota is like downsized mmorpg, without the grind varient, that's why a lot of people play that. I even have a lot of friends who quit wow but play a lot of dota.

tbh i never understood how people can say dota is an mmo without the grind

even though i've played 2+ years of RO myself (before moving on to SSBM and dota), i still don't get it zz
