Pac-Man confirmed for second opponent in All-Star Mode.I think it would help tie into Sakurai's whole Legendary character Status. Sonic brings a large part of Nintendo's story, Mega Man brings one of the longest running video game series and Pac-Man could bring a huge part of Arcade History.
Interestingly Pac-Man is a year older than Donkey Kong/Mario but two months younger than the first Game and Watch.
Oh, better yet! Event Match, King of the Arcade! Show Nintnedo who is the real Arcade Classic. Play as Pac-Man against Mario, Donkey Kong, Luigi and Little Mac.Pac-Man confirmed for second opponent in All-Stars Mode.
Exactly! I've been saying this since Day 1. I didn't expect Pac-Man would represent just his own series. The classic Namco library is so intertwined with him that he'd be representing all of Namco's arcade history, at least. The Special Flag/Galaga ships seem to confirm this is indeed the case, if he is playable. To people who say Pac-Man has limited moveset potential:
In addition to obvious biting, punching, head buts, kicks, and the ingenious final smash we all know he will have...
Why can't he use his Mario Kart?
Why can't he use Dig-Dig's pump spear in his moveset?
Rally X remote controlled cars?
Gilgamesh's or Lloyd's swords?
Pac-Man could utilize ANY of Namco's relevant history with Nintendo in his moves. He is Namco's mascot. He can rep Namco as a whole.
You forget how creative Sakurai is. Look at Fox, Capt. Falcon and Little Mac.
I think 3D. Game and Watch has had his crappy animation gimmick stolen by Wario so what else does he have left?I'm confident in Pac-man's chances in making it into the fray.
I'm just unsure on whether or not he'll be in his updated 3D model or his retro 2D flat rendition.
It'd be a brand new 3D model so Sakurai would make some slight changes. He seems to have a better grip on third party properties than the PS All Star guys did. They were forced by Capcom to use the wrong Dante and make his alt costumes suck. Sakurai be like, ***** give me Mega Man. Which one? How 'bout all of them.3D model as he's seen on Ghostly Adventures, no doubt. There's a really small chance for he be like in Pac-Man Party, but I'd be surprised..
This depend how the 3rd party company feels about a redesign just for a game;... Mega Man was in the limbo during the last years, a redesign was welcomed,.. and he needed that for seem fresh again, and of course, the design was made by Capcom. NAMCO made a redesign so recently for Pac-Man, I don't see they allowing a second (fourth, actually since 2010) design for Pacster,...specially that would be for a single game. He's cool with NAMCO and his audience with the current desingIt'd be a brand new 3D model so Sakurai would make some slight changes. The haters would just say "see? Pac-Man cannot fight without borrowing moves from other games that aren't even part of the Pac-Man series... just like what's happened in Street Fighter X Tekken"Exactly! He has more to pull from, moveset-wise, than practically every other potential newcomer.
Technically Pac-Man was using his own moves. All the special attacks were variations on things he could pull off in Pac-Man world. The haters would just say "see? I don't know why they put him in that giant robot in the first place. Maybe to make it so he was as big as the other fighters? I dunno, but he's perfectly capable of fighting on his own. Or maybe Namco wasn't keen on the idea of realistic fighters punching, kicking, and body slamming their cute mascot. xDTechnically Pac-Man was using his own moves. Apparently Namco had little to no creative control in SFxT and in exchange Capcom is the same for TxSF. But Pac-Man's no human shape is definetly a better fit for Smash.I don't know why they put him in that giant robot in the first place. Maybe to make it so he was as big as the other fighters? In Smash Bros., the whole world is nearly cute, fun, and playful, even the serious sides of it, so Pac-Man can fit in and fight on his own just fine.
I suppose that does make sense. Capcom was probably like "wtf do we do with this guy? Uhh.. put him in a big robot, that'll do the trick."Apparently Namco had little to no creative control in SFxT and in exchange Capcom is the same for TxSF. Oh wow, yeah that makes sense then. Pac-Man's voice from the show shouldn't be what's represented in the games. Hopefully he'll have his Party/Tilt voice in Smash.EDIT: Oh, btw, ... know what I discovered? In Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, even with his model updated with the Ghostly Adventures design, his voice clips are still from Pac-Man Party, lol.
Namco had no control but Sony did. Sony was proly like " Make 'em tiny versions of Ryu and Kzuya, it'll be adorbs" And Capcom be like, "da balence will-" and Sony goes "I DONtT CARE!"I always found it odd that they put Pac-Man in a mech, considering Toro and Kuro are about the same size, and they don't have a mech.
I dunno. I think Pac-Man in the Mokujin was a smart idea for a traditional fighter. Thankfully, Sakurai will give Pac-Man an interesting moveset without it.I always found it odd that they put Pac-Man in a mech, considering Toro and Kuro are about the same size, and they don't have a mech.
He'll probably at least have some references to other Namco arcade games in his moveset. I'd bet on at least a taunt.
I still say you need to color that.
Bring it on Namco.
I'd rather draw a single, more detailed Pac-Man and colour that in. Something of a cross between his modern design and the classic one.I still say you need to color that.
Speaking of Pookas, I'll be adding them into my signature when my computer comes back in (I'm on my old one since my screen broke and I had to get that fixed.) They're just so cute.I'd rather draw a single, more detailed Pac-Man and colour that in. Something of a cross between his modern design and the classic one.
I just know that any Dig-Dug and Galaga/Galaxia reference would make me insanely happy. The exploding Pookas just seem like a perfect idea.
I am a n00b when it comes to Guilty Gear, so could you possibly elaborate? In tradition of making references to Guilty Gear, I say Pac-Man should take ques from the character Venom.
Though, instead of billiard balls, Pac-Dots.
If you'd like, I could make a Pac-Man stamp/icon/whatever thing like my K. Rool one, I could throw Pookas in it too.Speaking of Pookas, I'll be adding them into my signature when my computer comes back in (I'm on my old one since my screen broke and I had to get that fixed.) They're just so cute.
(Also, please do that drawing so I can fawn over it. kthnxbye)
Well for one thing he's an icon of gaming. For me personally, the first game I ever played was Pac-Man, so I do have a big soft spot for him. What exactly makes you people want pac-man in this game?
Pac-Man kinda sorta being my childhood obsession might have something to do with it. It also helps that he introduced me to video gaming as a whole. Oh, and SSB happens to be my favorite Nintendo series of all time and I've dreamed of Pac-Man getting into it since I was literally like 7 years old. That might also have something to do with it.What exactly makes you people want pac-man in this game?
Venom is a character that a rather interesting zoning metagame, where he summons floating billiard balls that can be knocked around from preforming attacks. Said balls are effected by momentum and physics, meaning that they will travel across the screen at varies angles and speeds depending on how it's attacked. Vemon is capable of summoning 5 at a time at varies patterns, though for the intents of a typical match he'll normally only be able to summon 2 on average. There are also two different ways they are summoned, either from summoning one normally or use an attack that inflicts damage and summons one simultaneously. The billiard balls are typically used for both zoning and approaching, which the main learning curve being how to manage and manipulate the billiards efficiently.I am a n00b when it comes to Guilty Gear, so could you possibly elaborate?

I haven't the foggiest idea where to find that. I can give you these, though.I would need a good series icon... And would you know where I could get a transparent gif of Pac (classic sprite) chomping across the screen?
Something like this but a little larger, and going towards the right (and without the ghosts). Googling Pac-Man gif brings up nothing...
I'll try to remember the drawing.
There are so many things wrong with that analogy that I have no idea where to start.Doom was the first game I've ever played and is an icon of gaming but it'd be absurd for doomguy to be in Smash Bros.
I don't recall the Doom developers being the ones working on Smash. I don't remember the Doom guy being an icon either, if I remember correctly, Goldeneye is what brought FPS games into the spotlight. Besides the fact that Doom doesn't even come close to Pac-Man... Do you also remember Sonic, Snake, and Mega Man?Doom was the first game I've ever played and is an icon of gaming but it'd be absurd for doomguy to be in Smash Bros.
He's a gaming legend. He's arguably the most recognizable video game character of all time, even moreso than Mario. Show Pac-Man to your friends and they'll know who it is. Show him to your parents, they'll recall playing the game. Show it to your grandparents. Even they will know Pac-Man. He's that famous, and pretty much no other video game character even comes close to that. What exactly makes you people want pac-man in this game?
