Maybe the four ghosts can be a unique projectile that follows your direction with the control pad.
Sorta like PK Thunder, only it goes 4 directions.
If so, It can be his neutral B move and the ghost still have the abilities that I made for them. But then what would the Down special be? Just no runaway moveset
This is what I fear

Having the ghosts chase makes sense for the character. Specific ghosts could be trophies or other extras at the same time, but the set shouldn't just summon Pac-Man's sworn enemies to do his bidding.

I agree with this. Having Pac-Man be a "running away" type of character would not only be fitting in representing what the character is about, but also make him more unique and offer up a new playstyle, which goes to show how different Pac-Man could be in the wake of how much hate he gets as a "generic", "kick-and-punch" fighter.

Apologies if this was already posted but this image kinda made me chuckle a little and even jokingly say "Pac-Man confirmed for Smash!" since it was a new arcade game. Although it's just a reskinned Air hockey table with Pac-Man all over it

Also I'd like to say I wouldn't mind Pac-Man getting in. I figured it was a possibility as soon as I heard Namco was helping with production. Detractors against Pac-Man could very well quote Wreck-It Ralph when he saw him at the party in the movie if he gets in though xD

Pac-Man is a baller.

Quite literally.

He is pretty much... A sphere.

I'd very much appreciate it if he were to get in on the action.

What if the ghosts were a homing attack, only it goes 4 directions to damage the opponent.
I talked to a friend last night about this idea, he said he thought it was weird because the ghosts are characters and Pac-Man "running faster" when a ghost appears. But if the ghosts are characters, I wonder if they could be said to have befriended Pac-Man? I'm just wondering how it could make sense for them to appear, though forcing Pac-Man himself to escape them is a cool idea still in my opinion.

I just realized, if Sonic and Pac-Man are announced we'll have the crossover the actual CapcomXNamcoXSega game didn't deliver.
And as I mentioned before a proper Mega Man vs Pac-Man fight instead of the mojukin vs fat cosplayer fight that SFxT gave us.

 Took you this long to realize that? :troll:

Anyway, this would be an amazing battle. Especially when done on the boxing ring stage.

Well maybe after they attack the enemies, the ghosts can all come back to pac-man and attack him...I dunno im running out of ideas

Personally I think it'd be cool if Pac-Man had a similar recovery / special to Pikachu's, as in he moves in one of the four compass directions and a ghost follows, reverting a bit to his classic form.

Heres what i have so far for limb-less Pac-Man's moveset.

Limb-less Pac-Man moveset

What would make this version unique: Ball style character

Entrance: Pac-Man bounces on the stage three times and winks at the player before facing his opponents

AAA: Bite - Similar to how Mega Man's iconic attack is his basic combo, Pac-Man's bites will be his basic combo attack.

Up: Bounces up without spinning.

Double Jump: Now spinning in the air.

Block: Pac-Man puts on his knight armor from Pac 'N Roll.

Dash: Pac-Man does the Rev Roll and runs over the opponents.

Crouch/Down Tilt: Pac-Man spins around in quickly. (works similar to Ness' down tilt/crouch)

Up Tilt:

Forward Tilt:

Up Smash:

Forward Smash:

Down Smash:

Specials:

B: Pellets - Pac-Man shoots out three pellets from his mouth in rapid succession. (Based on his pellet spit attack from Pac-In-Time)

Forward B: Boost - Pac-Man charges forward quickly. (Based on the ability in Pac N Roll)

Up B:

Down B: Butt Bounce - Pac-Man slams down on the ground three times. The third time causes a shockwave.

Final Smash: Power Pellet - Pac-Man turns into the 8bit Pac-Man and his opponents are turned blue with the 8bit squiggly lines on their faces. He can now move in four directions like the original game. This allows him to go through the stage and platforms and fly. However, Pac-Man is slow in this state to make up for that ability and the ability to kill characters instantly.

That's pretty interesting giving him a ball form to make him unique. Where is that from in his games?

I know, but I wonder if it's likely he would use that as part of his actual Smash set, given he was in Smash.

Down B: Butt Bounce. There you go. :p

Anyway, they might not make a majority of his moves with bouncing and rolling. But i can see the super ball like properties being considered for his moves.

I do like the butt bounce as a down B but everyone thinks its a knock off of mario's ground pound. But the side B move i made when pacman doubles himself in the opposite side of the stage is quite awesome in my opinion

So i changed the dash attack in the moveset to reference the wall grinding in Pac-Man Championship Edition.

Pac-Man does a sharp turn and ends up facing the opposite direction. This causes sparks to fly out and hit people. The sharp turn will also cause damage if an opponent is hit.

Also, someone should really try to make a moveset based off of Ghostly Adventures. Supposedly the show is getting better. (haven't watched an episode yet)

EDIT: ok started watching the show to see if there's anything I can use for limbless Pac's moveset. What I found was that Pac-Man can apparently pull his arms and legs into his body like a turtle and he still has super ball properties.

The butt bounce and Rev Roll are two moves that should probably appear in Pac-Man's moveset. The butt bounce, while it may seem like it'd be too similar to Yoshi/Bowser Bomb, is able to be differentiated by having a bounce property. Upon hitting the ground, Pac-Man would rebound a short space into the air. This could be used for recovery and spiking options, like Wario's Down Air in Project M. Additionally, in Pac-Man World 3, the butt bounce produces a shockwave when used three times in rapid succession. That could be incorporated as well, further distancing it from similar attacks.

The Rev Roll, for those not in the know, is a technique similar to Sonic's Spin Dash. Pac-Man runs in place until the input is released, then darts forward in the shape of a ball. This can be greatly distanced from Sonic's moves by trading mobility (it doesn't go very far in Pac-Man World) for KO power, acting as a quick kill move. Additionally, unlike Sonic's ground-hugging Spin Dah, it could send Pac-Man into the air when traveling up a slope, just as it did in its original appearance.

So from what i got from the show.......the reason why Pac-Man eats the ghosts without eating a power up is because he's already eaten a power pellet. The power pellet just doesn't have the same effects as it used to.

Another power pellet turns Pac-Man into limbless Pac-Man/super ball.

Ice Powers.

Flight.

Fire Balls.

What the **** is going on?

It sounds as if Pac-Man pellets have turned into Mario power-ups.

That may give some hope to a new Pac-Man platforming game... maybe? New Super Pac-Man Bros? NOMs instead of BAHs in the soundtrack. Not sure if anyone would want that, but a re-launch in that vein with power-up pellets could be a hit.

Im going to create a moveset that incorporates everybody's ideas for pacman at around noon and maybe we can add it to the OP. But should his butt bounce be a down special or down smash?

Definitely a down special or down aerial. There's not really a reason to make it a down smash exclusively, since it can be used in the air in the Pac-Man games. Of course, it could be used as both a down aerial and a down smash.

Well there's a power pellet that turns Pac-Man into a robot.

And there's a lot of power pellets that use his tongue in some way.....

If the new cartoon's canon is anything to go by, the ghosts are at one point allied with Pac-Man, so maybe summoning them for direct assistance isn't really out-of-character. Still like the "running away" concept better though. More befitting of the original maze muncher. Oh, and the show is pretty awful by the way. That is unfortunate; I was really hoping they could turn it around and make something genuinely entertaining.

The show seems decent, for a modern Disney cartoon. It's better then the other modern TV cartoons they're showing now a days.

As far as Ghostly Adventures Pac-Man goes his friends and the ghosts would probably end up as assist trophies if Sakurai decided to use the Ghostly Adventures version.

Honestly, i see Sakurai using the current design but using older games for Pac-Man's moveset.
