@ WeirdChillFever WeirdChillFever

Oh man, I always read your name as WeirdChiliFever for some reason, and it made me think about food every time I saw a pic of Larry. I just now realised it's Chill. I know this is not Pac related but damn.

Hey! Let's make a list of everything we see Pac players do wrong on For Glory!

So far we have:
- SideB as an actual attack on the ground
- Random punishable dash attacks
- No SideB when recovering

I'll add:
- Key sniping from the other side of the stage
- Dairs (lol)
- Thinking we have Diddy's grab
- Dropping random hydrants that don't do anything

Help guys
Also: never using trampoline on stage.

I need advice! ;S

I went to buy a GC controller, and I saw this. It's not a GC controller, but it ressembles it, with slight adjustments. It's an official Nintendo controller, so it's 100% legit. You connect it directly to a Wii remote (where the Nunchuk goes), and it becomes ''wireless''.

If anyone could help, I have two questions:
1. Is it legal in tournaments? I know sometimes you can only play with a Wii U Pro Controller or a GC controller; does it count as one?
2. Is it worth buying? It's half the price of a GC controller, not counting the adapter. Is is a good quality controller? Does the wireless make it lag more/is the input lag significant?

I can save for a classic GC controller and an adapter, but if it's basically the same, I'd rather buy this one.

Edit: Yeah, I probably shouldn't post this in the Pac forums, but I don't really know where else.

1. Nope, it has turbo functions and requires a wii mote.
2. Nope, because of the above. If you don't care for color, this is a decent price on a wii u pro controller http://gamedealdaily.com/wii-u/nintendo-wii-u-pro-controller-white/ Otherwise, get a mayflash adapter and a GC controller off amazon.

So what are you playing, Pac-Boards? Gonna pick anything up? Trying out new characters in Smash?

Hit me.

I'm going to pick up Xenoblade digitally in...26 minutes, actually. Hope the eShop doesn't crash!

Maybe it works like the "burn out" system on YouTube
I guess it does work exactly the same. There's several threads that i just stop getting notifications from after a while. The Zelda social and the "characters competitive impressions" or whatever it's called always stop to notify me after a couple of hours if I don't go on them.

Pacack likes to like things, yo

Because of my partially sadistic mind

Tomorrow i'm going to create a thread dedicated to finding all the horrible things we can do to every other character in the game.

My goal is to promote more creativity amongst the Pac-Mains and to show just how many options we have against each character in the game.

...Also because I imagine that this will be VERY fun :demon:

Some of you may not have known that we could eat Ness's recovery with side B, weaken Rob's gyro with the hydrant and steal it, or take diddy's banana out of the equation by covering it with a trampoline.

Or let MechaKoopa walk against a Hydrant.

MADDIT: Personality tests?
Could you all do those fun things when I'm awake thank you.

I always get this on personality type tests
It seems that most of us are intuitive so far.

I had a feeling this would happen lol
Yolo sensing ftw.

Let's keep a tally:

E/I
Extraverted: 4
Introverted: 5

S/N
Sensing: 3 (REPRESENT)
Intuitive: 6

T/F
Thinking: 6
Feeling: 3

P/J
Perception: 5
Judging: 4

Looks like we're all different exact personality types but there are two trends emerging. Pac's tend to be more perceptive and more intuitive.

Would be great to get more results so more of you Pacs should do this quiz!

Not likely, going off his old melee move set (which it seems will be very similar). He would be able to get through the traps, but cant really do much after that. He also seems to be quite large, which is detrimental against Pac-man.

What if Mewtwo hard counters Pac-Man?

It's unlikely but what if.
I think a better and less absurd question is to ask what potential changes we could get in the patch.

To be honest, I think Pac Man is a very well designed character. It's unfortunate he loses hard to some rushdown and cheese (grav pull cooldown when?). It's not really Pac's design that is the flaw in his losing MUs. As such, Pac just needs a couple of fine tunings to make playing him a more pleasant experience for the player. For me, an ideal changelist for the Pac would be:

  • Fair AC window made actually reasonable. The hitbox is gone on frame 9, the auto cancel window starts on frame 43… why? Same deal for Nair. The hitbox is gone by frame 20 but there's another 28 frames of animation before the AC window. This is kind of questionable to me.
  • Key, apple and Melon KB increased. Maybe have them kill like 10-15% earlier. No more than 20%.
  • Grab-boxes fixed on dash and standing grab so that the animation actually matches the animation and there is no stupid deadspot on the hand.
That's probably it. I don't think Pac warrants any nerfs. Patch 1.0.4 already did all the nerfing Pac deserved (the nerfs were deserved imo, 12% hydrant made it too spammy, 11% galaxian is nuts given its combo potential and what felt like 0 endlag up smash was just lol worthy).

Stronger Smashes would be reasonable giving their speed.
You can overbuff a character, you know, and giving Pac more power in his fruit kind of makes up for his smash attacks. This is how I feel about it. Having an unstaleable kill move with a wonky trajectory is priceless for a character and may be too overwhelming. I feel like Pac is in a fairly good spot at the moment in terms of balance and design. His winning MUs are far from overwhelming (I've heard Mac is bad but it hasn't been in my experience, Mac has the tools to punish us for playing too safely) and his losing ones with careful balance adjustment can be made very bearable.

Interested to see what everyone else thinks though.

If his grab and maybe Dair get buffed, I'll be happy. Pac-Man doesnt really scream OP so I think we're fine. He's not top tier, he's pretty okay balance-wise.

I'm a big bowl of ideas, with half of them not even working.

I also have the feeling we're all improvising messheads.
I'm with you there
All of the stuff I blurt out is just ideas and theorycraft that I was excited to share.

That's why my new thread is going to be so fun ^^ (if I'm not too lazy to update it like my matchup thread...)

The only thing I would want for Pac-Man is his old trampoline. It would fix ALOT

Dair is already cool for covering ledge get ups and rolls

How was the old Trampoline that makes it good?

I find it curious how the competitive (those of us that have entered tournaments, if you've entered a tourney and did my survey then I'm SORRY BUT I DIDN'T KNOW) Pac mains are all sensing.

Maybe intuition can only get you so far ;). Get on the S tier Pac bros :p

That and it would make the default trampoline as a trap more threatening since Pac-Man would have time to chase you down from getting flung up.
