Psh... You can't beat "get in the kitchen" pacman.

As a general rule though, if you don't have a name for your alternate costume then it's not a good alt.
I like to call it "Cookin' up trouble".

What about red Kirby, though? Do I just call that alt "Chu, don't swallow"?

I do go for Kirbycides more than I should.

Hey, random guy from the puff boards here. Quick question regarding keys and hydrant.

A buddy of mine figured out a neat little trick where you use the key to one-shot the hydrant while behind it. Key flies towards the opponent with the hydrant bouncing along behind. Im expecting this to be extremely old news, but Id like to know: is it good? (Im asking for him more than me, I honestly think you could just shield key and dodge the hydrant, or just shield both, or jump over the key and airdodge the hydrant....blah blah blah.)

It's good stage control, or at least good pressure in general. It causes your opponent to stop what they're doing and shield or defend, giving you time to set up something. Or if it hits, it's heavy damage - especially if it's both key AND hydrant. Pac-Man's all about having space to set up his tools, so a Key'd Hydrant is good for creating that.

I feel like it's pretty good.

@ Galaxian Galaxian already answered, but yeah.

If it hits, it has outstanding kill power, so the opponent cannot let this happen. He has to dodge it in some way. If he shields all, it can break shield, or at least he takes heavy shield damage. If he jumps or whatever, you have a positional advantage and time to do something. So I'd say it's a solid attack even if it doesn't hit, since the zoning and power it provides is so strong.

The downside is you lose the Key. If the opponent is at kill percent, it might be a better option to launch the Hydrant with an A-move, and keep the Key for when you can confirm a hit with it. Charging it again takes, like, 4/5 seconds (I really need to figure out the exact time), so it's up to you to figure out if it's worth it according to your playstyle and the situation.

Is there a way to catch the key after throwing it, maybe if it hits the water jet or something?

Figured I'd post my silhouettes in the social threads! Unfortunately Namco took down my Pacman stuff from Redbubble.. So no merch for him. :(

Hey, that looks neat!

Shame about that though. Makes sense, Namco needs more money after all.

They're called Scamco for a reason...

My main man Pacack!
I'm doing fine my boy.

I bet you still remember speculation time...

Pac-Man joining smash was the greatest piece of smash history that I've ever been a part of lol.
Same here. Kind of insane to think that we've been in this for so long now.

I don't know why, but I stopped getting notifications from this thread.

How is everyone?
I'm still mad about SDing in a tournament a couple of weeks ago in a really stupid way. Also pretty sure that I'm the only person that's come close to dominating him in a set ever. Have decided to make a bet with one of my smasher friends that each time we SD in tourney we have to give the other two beers so hopefully that'll never happen again :p.

I'm currently on break from uni but I have like 100,000 assignments and 2 mid semester tests when I get back from break so I'm kinda stressing about that. I also have a qualifier for a major tourney coming up, not that I'm gonna enter the major though because it's too damn far away and during semester time for uni.

So yeah all in all, life's working out perfectly (not) :p.

How's yourself Mr. Pacack?

Doin' tight! I'm going to another weekly on Sunday, hoping that my experience from LANWar + the Pac-Boards will let me do even better.

I'm glad I started posting here more frequently, I feel like my Pac-Man has gotten a lot better after taking up tips from you guys.

Man, even thinking back to it now, Pac-Man in Smash is really neat. I love watching his trailer over and over to get excited all over again. I'm glad I picked Pac-Man up, salt and all I've had a lot of fun with this game ever since I started playing Pac-Man.

Which was, y'know, day 1.

Bonus Fruit was so ****ing slow in his trailer. Thank god they sped it up.

Also I'm trying to snipe a copy of Pac-Man 2 for the GC, but I can't find it nearby me. Someone's selling it in a set of 4 games for $40, and while Super Monkey Ball 2 looks fun, I REALLY just want Pac-Man World 2.

That reminds me, I need to go finish Pac-Man World on my Vita already.

I'd actually been a part of the site since 2008 then stopped using it after my interest in Brawl faded. I came back at the very end of August this year (using a more recent account that had 0 posts for 3 years) so unfortunately, I missed a good amount of the speculation that took place. I'd had fond memories of playing Pac-Man World/Pac-Man World 2 with my cousin when I was younger so Pac-Man in Smash was interesting though initially, I wasn't too phased. It's only when I really started playing the character that I fell in love with him all over again and went back to play old Pac-Man games (New Adventures is hilarious even today). Pokemon is still my primary favorite franchise and Mewtwo is the character I'd been waiting for for six years but all the same, I'm huge on Pac-Man too and have no intentions of dropping him even when my most anticipated character arrives next week. Games with him are generally so much fun since you can just freeball things and do what you want.

Admittedly, I haven't posted too much here recently but I do lurk quite a bit. I also appreciate the small community since it reinforces the bond between the members.

As for now, just taking things as they come and doing well for myself overall. I'm curious, what are you all interested in doing with your lives? I know @ Nu~ Nu~ has an interest in astronomical sciences. I do too (astrobiology) and I also have a huge interest in vertebrate paleontology. Curious about everyone else too. Casual discussion is always fun.

I love how our Pac-Community is so small, that it seems like we're having a little coffee house discussion :joyful:
You don't even know man, you're talking to Australia's only competitive Pac main.

There's literally nobody else in Australia atm that I can talk Pac stuff to and actually have them know about the character outside what I've done.

I'm 2nd year at university studying to become an astrophysicist. I'm hoping to get honours and then go on and do my Ph.D. I have to say though, I'm gonna need to step up my results before I do this.

Good to see some astro interest here though, astrobiology sounds fascinating, however, I've never really done bio so I wouldn't have the foggiest what I'm doing

Remember when almost everybody hated the idea of Pac-Man in Smash except us?

Good times.
Man I didn't even think about Pac-Man being in Smash, but the moment I saw him grace the screen and I saw the announcement I was hooked.

I love Pac-Man, I still do, and seeing that happy smiling cheeseball in Smash made me happy as hell. I wasn't maining anyone else - Pac-Man all the way, baby.

I remember watching streams and waiting for Pac-Man players so that I could study what they did so that I would have a general understanding of Pac-Man.

I remember staying up alllll night to unlock everyone in Smash 3DS, and then playing my first FG match, against a Japanese DH, as Pac-Man, and winning.

Good times.

I'm not doing so hot in school, struggling through Grade 10 I have homework I should be doing, shhhh buuut I'd like to be a teacher. I always loved video games but I don't really have any talents, but if I got a role in that somehow that'd be fun as ****.

Being a teacher would be cool though.

Surprised to hear that you didn't think about Pac at all during speculation. When Namco was announced to be working on the game, everyone was speculating Pac-Man and Lloyd Irving (though the latter was a bit more popular).
Hello, Pac-Friends! How are guys going? It's already a while, isn't it? ^^
The gang's all here.

I'm surprised myself. I just didn't think much of it, especially since Sakurai did say "Namco isn't getting a character because they're working on the game". I was surprised to hear that Miyamoto asked for Pac-Man, actually!

The man's got good taste.

What if Abadango is Miyamoto's secret identity?

Fun fact, Pac-Man is Miyamoto's all time favorite video game character.

I know! That's what I liked about hearing that, Miyamoto wanted his favorite character in and got special treatment because he literally created Smash Bros., or half the characters in it

How they did Pac-Man in Smash 4 is perfect, even though Sakurai thought it wouldn't work Namco came out with a perfect moveset.

Oh hey! I remember seeing you post a few times when I was looking through this thread to find the Pac-Man reveal and the reactions. Good to see you!

@ Pacack Pacack was super excited, his posts said them all.
Oh yeah, I was super nervous and excited at this fateful day =P. Nice to meet you!

The gang's all here.
Oh, hey! XD... bad time to be ONline? or people just disappeared after the game release? (much like me,.. but at least, I'm back. =P)

What does that italicized "meet" mean? I'm onto you.

I'm sure it was exciting for everyone though. Good to see you again.
Oh, nothing. XD.. just thought was weird while writing (didn't sound very well for me, I speak portuguese actually, and the verb "meet" could mean other things... don't worry =P)
