Well just to summarize the only preparations we made:

Quite possibly no VCR's this time around as we have Zinth and Po to record matches with their cameras. That won't cut it if we want to record ALL the matches, unless we get more camera men....

I have yet to hear a word from Muskogee Smashers yet. I know the equipment list is weak, but there are more volunteers that I missed. I'll see what Po and Fresh can do. I'm guessing you can go in for both Rasta, but we are still in much need of TV's.

Reno, if Rasta's crew will consist of himself, Kosmos, Shanx, and Pay$..... You could join ours if Patrick doesn't make it to the tourny....

arg, i said i wasn't going to post again, but this has to do with the actual tourny:

i don't know how to record from gamecube to vcr, but i can bring a vcr and a blank tape if someone knows how to hook it up to record the game.

and also, thanks vegafuse, we'll se what rasta says about his and kos-kos's crew, and i might take you up on that offer is patrick doesn't show up XD

edit: ha, yes shanx we have a girl. and also, do you have a doubles partner? if not, i think i need one if the tourny is on the 22nd because scud can't make it to the 22nd

Hmm, once we get signups rolling, I'll make a page on the website dedicated to the tournament so we can have an always-at-hand list of who is coming and what resources we have. I still say that we should use VCRs as well.

p.s.- i think we should do seeding rounds before the tourny starts. like, 3 matches with random people, and basically the people who go 0-3 go against 3-0, and those 1-2 go against 2-1. and then, even out whatever is leftover. it seems more fair that way, and less screwy so like, vegafuse and shade won't get matched up round 1. eh?

Sounds like a plan! The VCR issue has to do with the hassle Shade goes through with the DVD recorder. I mean we can still use VCR's, but I don't know if he's willing to record select matches again

Ok guys, I added a link to the tournament page in my sig. Keep in mind that I'm only listing things that are up to date currently confirmed by Rasta. Rasta, I think that you should apply as a tournament director, however one does that.

Also, Vegafuse, what characters did PX, Heathq, and Derrick use, out of curiosity?

Right now I am in the mindset to change the date to 5th, I thought changing it to the 22nd would be best for everybody, but I didnt take in account for MLG. I will start a thread on it, probably tomorrow if there isnt one already. I dont like doing this, trust me.

Also, Vegafuse, what characters did PX, Heathq, and Derrick use, out of curiosity?

PX is Po's cousin, "Patrick". He appeared at the last Smashfest I went to. He wore an orange backpack if I recall correctly. His main character is Mario. Probably the best out of anyone before we adopted advance techs.

Heathq is one of the original Smashers during the old OK Smash Scene. He used Falco and Marth. His skill was comparable to mine (during the OK tourny), he had better mindgames, but my technical skill was more polished.

Derrick, Heathq's doubles partner, used Fox and Sheik. Let's just say that if Derrick entered the first OK tourny at the time, I would be ranked below 2nd right now.

Unfortunately, as with Mithos and Haku, Heathq and Derrick have retired from SSBM and won't show their faces again until SSBB comes out. So you don't have to include them, but Patrick is back for sure.

Don't worry Rasta, the 22nd wasn't that bad a decision. I know you'll still get a sizable attendance And if you don't feel like making the tourny thread, we could do it for you............

rasta: how do you feel about the crew battle idea?
and, if you like it, is your crew kos-mos, shanx, and pay$, or do you have an open spot?

and lastly, i hope we can get a lot of good footage. i don't have a video camera, but like i said i have a vcr, and if anyone has a capture card and software, i can bring my laptop and install the software, and we can record a lot of matches onto my laptop.

or if anyone knows any other ways to record matches...that works, too. we just need a lot of footage!


edit: grav, scud, shade, and i will be playing tomorrow, so i guess we can get some of our footage there. and we should probably wait after the tourny, and see who we didn't get enough good footage of, and catch some of their matches at the next smashfest after the tourny so that everyone actually gets however minutes of footage they deserve.

Count me in for a TV and a Cube, possibly a VCR if I can get my grandma to lend me hers. As far as Patrick and Marc are concerned, they're in the same boat as me... Soon as the date is confirmed, We will be confirmed for the tourney. I'll probably team with PX, but if not, I'm extending invites to KOS-MOS or Gravity, whichever one of you is willing. Vegafuse, Marc has expressed interest in teaming with you for doubles as well, just post if any of you guys are interested.

Now, for the Vid, I would like to request a spot in it if possible. I got a song all picked out, too. If there's room, for me, that is. Talk to you guys later.

Hey Rasta, did you confirm to adopt the modified MOAST ruleset?:

RULES

4 stock

8 minute time limit

2/3 sets, 3/5 for semi-finals and finals.

No items

In the event of a tie: sudden death is played out, then the winner of that chooses the stage for the final extra 1 stock 2 minute match

First stage random or agreed upon

Dave's Stupid Rule: no stage you previously won on can be repicked unless it's allowed by the other player(s)

Double blind character picks if necessary for first match (i.e. upon request)

Stage striking: each player can strike one stage from the random stage select only. Not for the entire set.

Advanced slob picks: loser picks stage, then winner picks character, then loser picks character

Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned. You know what we mean when we say this so don't try and pull any ****.

Bomb Custom Rule (BCR): If something is mutually agreed upon, you may play it (outside of changing the best 2/3, items, and 4 stock). In other words, if you hate DSR, Stage Knockouts, Counter Picking (just wanna go Double Blind?), etc, declare before hand and you don't have to use it. Also, if you do agree to it, and your lose, you're screwed, don't come crying to us.

Teams rules: team attack on and life stealing allowed

1 v 1 Random Stages: Final Destination, Fountain of Dreams, Dreamland 64, Poke Stadium, Yoshi's Story, Battlefield, Kongo Jungle 64, Brinstar

1 v 1 Banned Stages: Hyrule Temple, Yoshi 64, Fourside, Icicle Mountain, Flatzone, Venom, Brinstar Depths, Big Blue, Termina

I didnt work as much as I thought I did, and I spent a bit more in houston that I would have liked to. Hopefully, the prizes really shouldnt change. From what I see, 20-30 people are showing up, 20-30 are going in singles, 10 or so different teams, so maybe the team prize might change, I have to see how many poeople show up.
