reno, i'll be your partner for doubles. I'd like to see how a cfalc and doc team work out. zinth, i'll burn songs to a cd, and then see what you think of them. I want a video, so i'm gonna have to practice a lot.

Alright guys.. turns out I work this weekend(my co-workers thought it would be funny to tell me I worked either the 22nd or the 29th... I should be angry... but I'm not...really...that much... :p. So any day is cool with me now doesn't matter when the tourny is.

Sign me up for singles doubles whateva lol.

Welcome back Rasta and Shanx!

Anyways, I just remembered ya'll better be thankful that I wanted to work this weekend... 54 DOGS are expected to be in tomorrow at the pet resort I work at -_______-. I should demand ya'll pay me 1$(from each of you) then I "might not" be so grumpy :p.

Going to take a nap... I'll talk later.

Yo Rasta, is the date and place confirmed? 22nd at the Union? Time?

Pay$, technically you aren't supposed to make another account after being bannned, but I'll let it slide so long as you post meaningfully, don't spam, don't flame, and don't double post. Be warned, pull any of that crap again and I will get that account banned too.

Dallas/Fort Worth, I'll see if we can have another tournament in early August or so. I really wanna play you guys.

Po, I've got your song up on the site now.

Roboto, I'll find your songs and get them up on the site too.

Rasta, you should get that thread for the tournament made today.

Also, Gravity, I found that Destination would be my pick for your combo video music.

well technically since kos-mos can do it on the 29th, we should have it then so scud can make it, too.
remember, OK smashers come first, OOSers come after.
unless we already have a room in the union. then obviously we shouldn't change it and pay more.
but if it is the 22nd, sign up shanx and i in teams XD
if it isn't the 22nd, zinth, wait for me to hear from scud about what he's doing before you sign me up for anything else.

Hmm, good point. Now I suppose all we need is a final verdict from Rasta.

Btw, today is both Hella from DBR and Fleur de Lis' birthdays. They're both now 20 too, so they were born on the same day. How funny is that?

Hahaha. Yeah, there are going to be much more than five people. I've only listed people who have "officially" signed up  We're expecting Kansas to come to this as well. The date might change to the 29th though. I'll bug Rasta to get a finalized date down

echo, click the link at the bottom of "omega_star"'s siggy.

i was born on the same day as the first rock concert ever(it's in my blood).
i was also born on the same day that ANC(African National Congress) declared their holiday(international day for the elimination of racial discrimination...i think) to be in South Africa, which is weird because my initials are ANC.
Naw Ruz/Norouz- the Persian New Year and World Poetry Day, too!

man, i learned all that stuff a few years ago, and was like, "my birthday is **** cool"
until i recently learned that march 21 is also World Down Syndrome Day.
dammit.

edit: like usual, i posted too late.

edit2: haha, nice pick of crashman, po pimpus. though, flashman is better.
or, skull castle. i think you might be able to find a clip of the minibosses playing some awesome megaman 2, including flashman and skull castle. i have this mp3:
http://clustermonkey.org/mirrors/minibosses/Minibosses_-_Mega_Man_2.mp3
if you like any part, you can get zinth to cut that clip and use it, i'm sure he could change the equalization and speed it up a little so it sounds more hardcore, too. just an idea, but i like the hip-hoppy version of crashman, too. :)

edit3: hey rasta, can you answer by tonight about the date of the tourny? if not, that's okay, i'm just wondering if you can, because i need to make plans about doubles and crew.

bombsoldier doesn't go to too many tournies i don't think, so he doesn't rack up enough points.
if i remember correctly, he's still only 16, maybe 15 now, so yeah, he doesn't do a lot of tournies away from home. or maybe i'm completely wrong, i dunno.

grav:
devil inside- 4(great song, just not montage esque)
violet sauce- 8 (kind of the same deal, but it works for a montage a little better because it's really unique)
exodus '04- couldn't hear the song :(, so 0.
cosmos- 9 (i'm a big tatu fan, and i'm glad you got the russian version)
destination- 7 (good tempo, a little weird, though)

edit: can someone else give me feedback on my song choices? kthx.

I signed you two up for the listed resources.

Also, I think that we should have VCRs at the ready as well. The cameras of Po, Scud, and I alone won't cut it. Besides, TV tapes can hold more than camera tapes, and won't take up space for tripods and such, and there is no risk of a camera becoming off-balance. Basically, VCRs will be more efficient. The TV that I am bringing has a built-in VCR, so I'll start a VCR list count myself in for that. We're also going to need power strips as well. I'll start a list for that too and add myself to it. If we want to get this entire thing recorded, we're probably going to need to make signs to remind people to do so, because during the first tournament most of the time people forgot. We're also going to need everyone to ALWAYS use a name tag when playing, to get a solid record of who's who in each fight. I'll help you all manage the brackets and the running of the tournament to make it go more smoothly and be more organized.

Yes Pay$, we are DEFINITELY going to have a loser bracket. We're going to run it properly this time too

don't forget- if it's on the 22nd, scud can't go, and then we won't have his camera, either!
i can also bring a power strip(don't forget, i'll bring a vcr, too)!
yet, the only thing it seems i cannot bring, is a case of nametag stickers. so someone else will have to do that.

but yeah, i'll make sure brackets work, too. XD

gotta go eat, then smashy smash time with the crowd.

Sooo yea. Sup.

Question - is there a really strong community for Melee [or 64? heh] in Tulsa? I'm looking to stay competitive in one fighting game or another, and I guess - if nothing else lol [ sorry, not a huge Melee fan ] I could convert / would be good to convert to Melee as Brawl is coming out, so on so forth.

You can see my rants about why and all here - http://www.okgamers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=38

So yea - a strong community in Tulsa, or much of one at all in Oklahoma? I mean hey, I know Melee is popular, but wasn't sure if there was any real competition in Tulsa or not. Thanks.

it's funny you say that, because SSB64 is HUGE is tulsa. basically, everywhere else we play melee, though. i think tulsa has monthly tournies, but i can't remember. other than that, i know of some college students in stillwater that play tekken.
there's also a lot of college students at OU and OSAU i know that play SC3.

i don't know about any other fighting games. everyone else is playing halo 2 :\

Woah. Where do I hear about these SSB64 tournaments?!@# Seriously - point me in the right direction heh.

Beyond that - yea - I'm pretty much Tulsa based, so no real way to play the OU / other types.

Reno - By name tag I meant the four-letter tag you wear in the game, like mine is ZNTH and yours in RENO. Not everyone did that last time so it got kind of confusing when I was reviewing the videos.

X_A - Welcome to the boards. There are a few Melee players in Tulsa, but the large portion of the Melee talent lies in OKC, Edmond, and Norman. Vegafuse can probably tell you about SSB64 players, he's in the know of the whole competitive-gaming-in-general scene in the state.

ah, you mean make sure everyone puts their gaming handle into the name area before playing.

sorry, i'm used to saying "handle" because it's all...official, but more specifically, less confusing.

and X A, i am not 100% sure where i found out about tulsa tournies, but it was before i even joined the boards(original name joined nov. 2005), so they might have actually died out, but i doubt it.

Yes, everyone who competes in the tournament has to pay. That is the money that goes torwards prizes, and perhaps the coverage of the room as well.

Whoa, X A, didn't expect to see you here. I see the problem in Tulsa, but there really isn't much SSBM going on over there as well. OKC is where it's really at, and the rest of the Smashers are scattered about the State. We did have some players in the Muskogee area, even though they haven't posted in like 2 months, I'll try to get a hold of them. No news over SSB64, however.

Regardless of the Tulsa situation, picking up SSBM is definitely worth the time and effort. We will have much more State-wide events coming soon (Not to mention the tourny on the 22nd, watch me kick some "A" with my low-tiers :p). Just give me a heads up if you're willing to compete seriously in this game. I'm moving to Tulsa in a couple months, so I can start you off with the basics.

BTW X-Alpha, is Hozanto in charge of any OKVE tournaments? Or just the fighting game aisle? I was under the impression that there is a lot of competition at the Funhouse arcade, especially considering T5, SC2, and even the old-school fighters. We all *know* how much Hozanto loves that.......

Zinth, sign me up for VCR. You might want to include the modified MOAST ruleset too, and print out a few copies of it for hand-outs at the tourny...... just in case the new people get lost with the banned stages and whatnot.

Roboto, I added your music to the page. I think that Purple Haze would be most appropriate for your montage.

Vega, I added the ruleset to the page and added you for a VCR. I'll print out a few copies of the ruleset for the tournament as well.

haha, i might have to money match a few people first, but i'm gonna make that 10 bucks for the doubles entry fee. as for singles, insufficient funds. Hopefully i'll be able to make it the 29th.

well, so far. I only have 3 dollars, so i'm gonna go ahead and make first thing's first. If i can get enough money for singles, i'll enter, i just have to see how things play out
