Wtf... haha anyways it's obviously not by tournament results for everyone. Cuz Zack you've placed 5th or lower in every tourney since April, so how does that justify a 4th place spot? Junpei has been killin tourneys lately taking a numerous amount of 2nds, personally I think he should be placed in the #2 spot, he's beat FTS everytime in the the last 4 months and now just beat PC in tourney. I think Devin is in a good spot until another tourney or so goes by and shows how he does again. Raf needs to show up and show he still deserves where he is right now, FP and me should be decided by next tourney as well. Dont' listen to Zack IOZ everybody else wants to hear your opinion.

You really do not pay attention do you C!Z? chao and phil have been removed FROM the list moving everyone up. I was 6th before they were removed because i averaged 6th place. Now with two free spots, those worthy move up in their places. This is the reason why I am fourth an hott may possible be tied with me or be 5th depending on how the next meeting goes.
I was going to send you an application to be a panelist until i saw
this "Dont' listen to Zack IOZ everybody else wants to hear your opinion." Your siding with zeal who has NO utah info at all.

Also, I love Junpei's idea, and to get rid of the fact that by ommitting yourself you lose the points you'd place on yourself, you could just add on 1/N of the total points you get. (N = total number of panelists minus 1, 3 in this case)
IE: Say PC is the fourth on the panel, and somebody else drops dead for simplicity's sake. Everyone votes 1 for him minus him. Given that a 1= 10 points, thats 30 points. 1/3 of thirty is 10 points. 30 + 10 = 40 and a solid number one for Utah.

And it wasn't just the most recent tournament's results I was using. It was the past 4. I've been keeping tabs, and keeping quiet, but enough is enough.
The only half-assing done during our crew battles was on CO's side, when we sent in Yang, who proceeded to somehow survive the leet wobbling, and **** the cute kitsune. We didn't even get to send in everyone, due to LoVo being a jerk and not sharing. You john waaaaaaaaaaay too much.
Wait... were you tired at the most recent tournament, too? How about every single one for almost half a year now, 'jira? Maybe you should stop self-medicating before each tournament.
Where do you get off talking about seeing potential in Hott? He's better than you, to be sure. He shouldn't be tied with you, at all. Yeah, I can understand placing him at 4th, because having the whole state admit that ZOUNDS HE'S BETTAR THAN US is a lot to do after just one tournament, but still, tying with someone that doesn't even place higher than 5th? That's kinda disrespectful to him.
Also, you used a lot improperly, which makes me laugh considerably on the inside. Nah, not even. Ignorance and arrogance of this caliber just serve to annoy me, especially from someone who used their character as a john for how long? You probably still do.
Point in case is that you guys need a new panel, or system, or something. Your placement, along with a few other ones (I won't argue about PC's, he's shown consistency far beyond anyone else in UT, based on all the results I've looked at) reflects that. Why not have the community either assign a point system (certain amount per placing, up to top 4, then more tangent upon who you played, because it matters more if you faced RA and PC and were instantly eliminated than it does if you faced nameless scrub, Ken Neth, lost to Fallen Prophet, beat 'Jira, only to lose to C!Z, or something like that), start actually listening to each other (like CO), or have the community re-elect a new panel, and go to rankings from that. Either way, the current system is broken as hell.
Imagine if we sent Nite over to UT, he walked in, and saw you playing. Knowing that you're the 4th best, he'd assume that there's not ~too~ much of a skill difference between you and 3, 3 2, 2 1, you get the idea. Now that he's seen you play, he's kinda let down, because he expected something more from your top 4 players, and he goes through the rest of the tournament/experience messing around, rather than playing actively and helping your community grow. This is a very real problem, despite OOSers not coming to UT as often anymore. Much like how, at Summer Struggle, Taj and Wobbles didn't take us seriously at all, thinking Kenny was the best. We learned a little from them, and we saw the gap in our skill levels, but, aside from it being fun, CO didn't advance too much.
Fast forward to when Forward (lulz) came. He played Rafa, Rafa's ****ing good, and he actually helped us some, rather than just messing around. Granted, Taj and Wobbles did offer up some advice, and Forward was here, alone, for 3 days, but that's what really made Colorado grow as a community. Truth is, if OOSers, or even newcomers, don't see something amazing, or at least the potential for something great, in your tops, they're going to go find something more interesting. You want to know why I've been touting for Phil, Junpei, and Hott? They ****ing surprised me. I didn't get to see FTS play much, if at all, so I kinda just pushed him into the back of my mind. While PC is pretty cool, I didn't see him play much at all, either, except for the crews, where it was really obvious that something was wrong (even if LoVo's good, and rapesies the sheiks, the disjointed way PC was playing wasn't something that could take first consistently in UT, so I figured there was something off). I played a few other people, and observed. Xsyven didn't get much in the way of comments from me because my experiences with him were limited (even though he's tight as hell), and I've played Ferdi's ICs, and that was kinda a high bar for him. Hott caught me off guard. I do believe I even lost some friendlies to him because I thought that he was going to be a pushover and I sandbagged hardcore originally. Even better, when he did beat me, he didn't brag or anything. He was a nice guy. Junpei was cool, smart, and had pretty decent technicals, and gave me a little bit of trouble as well that morning. Phil surprised me the most, because his Samus was so polished and refined, all it needed was to get OOS and see some action. Though I don't recall him winning, he really stood out. None of them johned when they lost, either, which was a nice change of pace from the johnapalooza when UT came to C3T.
UT players, I love you, and I realize that that crew didn't properly rep you, especially at that time, when our states were much closer in skill level, but the impression left from that day made CO think that UT just didn't take SSBM very seriously, and wasn't going to push themselves. That's not to say we didn't like Zack, Nate, and Buzz. Friggin' love them, and I touted their flag despite some naysaying, but we figured that you guys were just casual.
At any rate, I got sidetracked. Jira, both that morning, and throughout all of OC3, you stood out about as much as that random Jigglypuff player I ***** first thing at OC3. And no, I'm not talking about Boss. Even if he was an ***, he was good. No offense, you're a great guy, and I understand playing a garbage character is hard and all, but you didn't come across as being high ranked for UT. Top 5.... maybe maybe maaaaaaaaaybe... top 8, definitely. Top 4? Who's been losing to him? I know in the case of CO, you wouldn't even be top 10. Maybe top 14, given how many retirements we've had lately, but seriously. And yes, I know that part of your placement is due to people quitting. That's why I'm 4th now. But I've also been placing 4th since the beginning of time, sans one or two tournaments. And using those crew battles/etc is cute and all, but I'm sure most of those results are older than dirt, given your track record of pulling out the inane.
Zack, you're a cool guy, so stop being a douche about the rankings. Yeah, I'm an OOSer, and I don't completely know your scene, but I'm an OOSer with much more experience, better results, knowledge, and skill, than you. When Taj and Forward offered up their opinions, we took them with a grain of salt. I didn't tell them HOMG GTFO Gb2 AZ THREDZZ! because they ranked me fairly low. We listened to what they had to say, and took some of it, and used it. While I don't live in UT by any means, I do keep track on my 4 corners brethren. This kingdom is being oppressed by arrogance. If you want your scene to grow, you need to admit that you aren't so great, and you all need to tell each other what you're doing wrong, without being *******s. Taj, Forward, and Wobbles aren't the only reason why we have surpassed UT.
We had LoVo, who was dedicated as ****, Jeris, who is smarter than the highest scoring Harvard grads, Ken, who always livens **** up with his talk and game, Erg, whose a ****ing child prodigy, Yang, whose the king of tippering, as well as a great guy, Nite and Chap, who manage to make things fun, even when they're completely serious, Ferdi, whose amazing just because he gets bored, but is still funny as hell, David, who is the ultimate Boulderian, Ben, who we all miss dearly, Tim, who has a quick wit, a tight Ness, and a penchant for jumping off roofs, Ayiela, one of the only female smashers who hasn't just given up, Victor, who pushed us and kept us in line with his arrogant demeanor, Mikezor, SGNM, myself, and countless others. All of us contribute something. Yeah, we have our bad blood from time to time. Ken and I have both been *****y to each other, and some of us think we're better than others think we are (which is entirely possible), but in the end, we still help each other, and we still do such on a regular basis. We're not Washington, or California, or New York, or Arizona, but dammit, we aren't some throwaway state, and that's because of our dedication and willingness to swallow our pride to help the community. You need to do the same.
I'm not saying HOMG CO>>>>UT UT SUXXX, because you guys don't. There's a lot of talent and potential there. You guys just need to start cultivating it. Srsly.

What affects power rankings
-Attend Tourneys]. This is obviously something you have to do if you want to get ranked.
-Place high] This is one thing you also needs to do in tourneys. However high placings do not always mean you are really good. This takes me to the next point
-Who you beat in tourney]. placing high by beating crappy players obviously does not give you much credit as it would to beating other people such as RA or FTS.
-Once you finally beat someone, you should have to show consistency in order to move up. Anyone can have a big OMG tourney and do well but that does not make them auto better then someone higher then them.
So IOZ lets take xysven for example shall we? When he went to his first big tourney. He placed 4th. Everyone lwas shocked at him and instantly jumped to the conclusion he is so much better then me. In fact I think he even knocked me out that tourney like hott did this one. So everyone thought he was so much better than me, RA and, Laozy pretty much the same way everyone is doing with hott. So what happens to Xsyven as he attends more? Did he show consistency? Well he has yet to place 4th again, or do close to as well again. So everyone that said he was better than me and others learned real fast he was not. Xysven lacked consistency. So why is Hott going to be tied with me or one spot lower than me? We want to see if he can show consistency. Before moving him up like we did to xysven.
-One final thing that affects power rankings slightly is how well you do vs certain opponets compared to others you can/can't beat. so player A can beat player B but cant beat player C who can also beat player B. That has an impact as well.
IOZ our ranking system is the same way cali does theirs and it works fine. If Devin is as good as everyone thinks, he should rapezise the next tourney he goes to right? Wait and see. We are redoing the meeting after ALL this chaos. So wait till the next list before you make another short story sized post.

but seriously...(writing to zac) does moving down the ranks make you sad? ...it shouldn't, because it should make u stronger. i think people like someone *wink wink* places themselves high mainly to show off to oos smashers and brag to noobs. i know i did, and it was horrible of me.

I just think you need to let your baby go, and remember that you don't control EVERYTHING that happens in Utah. For example, I don't think Gojira should have absolute power to what happens to the power rankings, because this is THE STATE OF UTAH's power rankings-- not Gojira's. If he disagrees with that, I vote that PC makes another thread and starts it on behalf of Utah, and not of himself.
FTS and Gojira, if anyone is interested in Utah smash, I'm going to refer them to you guys. You're both amazing ring leaders. You just don't have to baby the scene as much anymore.

FTS alone built this scene not me. We are also not keeping it from growing up. We must wait until the next ranking to decide the list everyone keep your pants on.lololol. I don't even remember talking to you... but you're right. I really am tight as hell.
I'm not disagreeing with what you said, nor am I agreeing with anything that IoZ's said. But our system is obviously not 'working fine' seeing that there's this much drama going on.
Anywho, here's my two cents of how the Utah scene is working so far.
I really don't have anything wrong with you guys, but I'm not going to lie. FTS and Gojira have sort of developed a god complex.

I was wondering if it is possible to challeng people for thier spot on the power rankings, and if so are there any specific rules for this, such as, the stages allowed and the # of stock?

You could do a money match. I doubt it would affect the rankings at all.

Jira, my biggest complaint that you've consistently placed 5th or lower at every tournament as of late. That means you should be ranked 5th. Xsyven also didn't have what was probably the hardest bracket in UT to prove himself, hence the difference in rankings between the two.
I'm too stressed right now to continue. FTS, you're ****ing great. Jira, you are too. So's Buzz. PC, Laozy... all of UT, both new school and old, you guys ****ing rock. Don't doubt that for a minute. These rankings are just annoying, is all.

I'm just going to write everyone's names on a piece of paper, put them into a hat, and randomly draw ten names. That will be my new list. >.>
Zack, I don't mean too much disrespect to you when I say this, but you are horrible at keeping track of tournament results. I also think you've been acting like a ****ty panelist recently. You're so god**** afraid of moving down in ranks that you're not even willing to consider allowing people who are new to the scene or people who can't make it to tournaments as often as you ranking above you. We removed Phil (who would probably be third right now if he didn't retire) and moved down Rafa(because he didn't do too hot at the last tournament he went to) and you believe that you should move up by default, just because you're next in line, even though you haven't placed 4th or higher in what, four months? Since before we even had a power rankings? You're seriously not going to get better at this game by thinking you're better than everyone else gives you credit for. I can understand showing hesitation about new players, but Fallen Prophet has placed CONSISTENTLY higher than you at EVERY tournament he's been to since he started playing in our scene(3 tournaments so far).

Beating 4 players that are ranked significantly higher than him, including the number 1 and number 2 players, is by no means a fluke. Even if it was, compared to your one OMG tournament back in April, he very much outperformed you at this tournament. Even considering the fact that you beat Rafa and also Yamer twice(!!!OMGWTF!!!HAX!!!) Devin beat twice as many highly ranked players. Do you realize that he's not even gloating about how well he did at the tournament? You use your second place rank from April to justify Devin NOT moving up, just because maybe you feel that your performance got neglected somehow, even though you were one of the panelists that made the original list.
I really hate to fuel the fire, but this **** has gone on long enough. Our current system is clearly NOT working. Maybe if a certain someone would just swallow their pride and acknowledge the fact that their fellow smashers are getting really good, instead of using ancient tournaments and this CONSISTENCY bull**** to deny them their hard earned achievements.

You may notice that most of it(actually, all of it) is aimed at Gojira, and that's primarily because I see him as being the source of the current disagreement in where everyone should go. You're an all right guy to hang out with (making fun of you is so easy and so funny) but you just really need to realize where you stand in this community. If you honestly think that everyone else is wrong about how good you are, including me and PC, I don't think I can say that I want to be involved in making a new list (except for maybe creating the list in PHOTOSHOP FTW!!!

Devin, FallenProphet, and Gojira all have obvious skill. All three of them can beat me, but out of all of them, I've found Gojira to be the least threatening. By judging that, I'd rank them:

And this is consistency by tournament attendance-- because when it comes to consistency, this is the only one that I can place Gojira #1 in.
I don't think Gojira is Johning everything that people thow at him, there's just two different things to judge rankings by. I think results shouldn't be the main meat on how players are ranked.

I am using my 1000th post in attempt to end the drama completley. Here is my opinion.

The list here shows more accuacy then what I first thought to believe and I hope with agreement this can be the new list. However im still standing by the fact that hott needs to remain consistent if he wants to hold his spot.

BTW, the new list was voted using a point system. Panelists were NOT allowed to vote for themselves. 1st on each person's list got 10 points, 2nd got 9, 3rd got 8...8th got 3, 9th got 2, and 10th got 1. Then, to make up for each panelists only getting a max of 3 votes instead of 4, we took the average. So for panelists, it was TOTAL/3, while for non-panelists, it was TOTAL/4. And here were the results for the votes:

It's all Adobe Photoshop. It's pretty expensive, pretty tough to learn. But if you're a pirate... well, it's not too tough.Someone should tell me...
