So... what about them Sonics?

just wondering, from the Snake standpoint.

it could be a moot question since they're a rare sight :x
They're a little troublesome (and I've played some good Sonics, one very good one in particular ) when they use a lot of hit and run tactics with their speed. I didn't even think you could spindash out of a spindash and catch the enemy in the air into another aerial o.O....It's a little difficult to catch them in that respect. However, that's about it, they seem to have trouble getting a KO on Snake and grenade countering usually halts Sonic's momentum. Mortar makes Snake tough to approach.

Interesting. I have trouble against Snake, getting caught by his tilts and stuff, but it could be because I don't have alot of experience fighting them in general. Grenades overall seem to stop alot of spindash approaches, since the constant attack box triggers them.

little known fact to Snake players: Sonic's Homing Attack targets Mortar missiles (and destroys them, anti Robotnik style), and his N-air/D-air let him destroy those without taking damage as well.

with pikachu youre guide forgets something rather important... pikas 0-80% chain grab of doom. Falcos CG pales in comparison to pikachus since pika doesnt even have to move, and he can combo it into an fsmash. pika is no different from the ice climbers, if you get grabbed, you die. its that simple. only effective way ive found to get out of it is just mash airdodge so when pika finally decides to release you, you dont end up eating his fsmash or f-air.

i taught my brother everything i know about pikachu and i simply cant touch him when i play as snake. i think pikachu is snakes worst matchup. oh, i didnt even mention pikachu can just jump off the stage and thunder you in the middle of cypher, which knocks snake out of it...

There are other moves that destroy the Mortar Missle too, such as Pikachu's dair and Yoshi's ground pound.

Also worth noting is that Sonic can use his up smash to avoid damage from the C4 on the ground.

Hey...I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned here yet...against Lucas and Ness, well, Snake literally has a near infinite chain grab against them. Here's how you do it:

Grab, neck snap times X until they break free, re-grab.

That's it. When ness/lucas break out of it, they just pull a little bit away from Snake. They're still in stun animation, so you can regrab if you're quick enough. It's also quite easy to just mix it up with delaying your grab (if they start dodging) to keep them in this chain grab. Chain grab to your hearts content and finish off with your choice of tilt, lol.

Edit: As if people don't hate Snake enough already

Snake is too good. He's one of the few characters who can do this.

Take note that everything you said vs ROB doesn't matter if you play Overswarm. I've played against like 2 ROBs in the past, and one was Overswarm. Needless to say I got my *** handed to me.

This needs an update with a better Pika strat (that match is ****, seriously, the current strategy is far from adequate) and a working G&W strat. Possibly a Samus and DK one too, if anyone would kindly oblige. I can possibly come up with things for all four but I don't play against these characters very often.

Also good match up info against falco was mentioned the last couple of pages, wish Sir would update it :/

I know I probably seem like a newbie because of my low number of posts, but I agree with Rusty; this needs an update.
Well, not even just an update with a better strategy for playing against a Pikachu.

In my opinion, the first post should have every character instead of just the ten that are on there right now, and everything that is helpful should be added in the appropriate section.
I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's too lazy to read every post in this, and every other, thread, so having a nice update with the first post would be really nice.

I was going to ask for some tips on certain match-ups but after looking at some of my matches on YouTube, I realized I was just playing badly.

I have a quick bit of insight to add regarding Lucario. One thing that rusty neglected to mention in his description is that a Lucario with around 35% or less damage can chaingrab Snake with his side B up 90% if that Lucario player knows what they are doing. They is virtually no way to get out of this chaingrab if it is properly executed, and the most important thing to do is get Lucario damaged past 45% very fast so that he can't perform this grab on you. Because of the fact the Lucario needs to be close to you in order for his side B to grab you (as opposed to just hitting you back with the aura), you can use forward tilts, grenades, nikitas, mortarslides, and down tilts to stay far enough away from Lucario to avoid his chaingrab.

Also beware of being comboed from his jab to a side B or an Aura Sphere. At high percentages the Aura Sphere will kill you and at low percentages the side B can chaingrab you. Thus, watch out for Lucario's jab.

Way to make a very informative post. What do you do about the uptilt?

I'd just like to say one thing about fighting Luigi.
His tornado ***** mortar sliding, so having a grenade handy to throw at him when he tornadoes is useful.
I didn't try this when I was playing against him, but it might be smart to shield drop a grenade, pick it up, and THEN mortar slide, so if he tornadoes you, he'll (hopefully) get hit by the grenade.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear. It's pretty late and such, but I wanted to just add that.
Rapid punching fireballs works like a charm, too. Maybe even against his tornado..

I think Pikachu is fantastic against Snake for many reason.
1)Pikachu has a chaingrab on Snake (Downthrow). This can get Snake's % up to 90% (roughly) and can finish him off with forward smash.
2)Thunder Jolt can hit grenades, mines and missiles of Snake (the Jolt must hit the mine at the point it bounces off the floor)
3)Pikachu can edgeguard Snake so easily with forward smash and Thunder.
4)Pikachu is faster overall of the two in terms of movement and attacking speed
