and the majority of the people you're talking about like to whine because they don't know how to apply, so they're opinions are biased too, and at a lesser level

whats your point?
I'm not sure what you're asking. ShadowLink84 said that we've finally become the idiots we're accused of being, and I said I think that's short-sighted because the only people really acting on any of this discussion are Omni, a few TOs he's asked to join his "OMAR" (lol) and to a lesser extent, Overswarm.

So far there's been a lot of discussion and very little action. I'm not sure how anything we've "done" so far has done anything to damage our reputation as a community any further.

Discussing the banning of a character in an intelligent way (and make no mistake, there has been more intelligent discussion in this thread than we could have really hoped for given the size, age range, and scope of this community) is not really a bad thing, nor does it make us idiotic. It doesn't make us idiotic if you are anti-ban, either, by the way.

everyone has a bias.
calling out someone for their bias is really just a moot point.

I that the game would improve with a metaknight ban. I think the top tier would be larger and more interesting. I also think that the mid and high tiers would be overall more viable.

The only character that might be viable with a mk ban is ROB
This is not hte case at all.

By secondary characters alone, the removal of MK means that having a non-MK secondary would actually make sense. That's like, all the way down to C tier being potentially viable.

well, I know one thing:

if MK gets banned, the people who main characters who they believe are viable without MK in the picture will come out the wood work and try to prove themselves.

is that kind of random increased morale good for competition?

It's insanely good for competition. It's just not a viable reason to take any sort of action on its own.

But yeah, we can expect for a few B or C tier characters to make people go "whaaaaaaat?!", although it would remain to be seen if they start a trend

There are quite a few characters that would be very happy if MK left the picture, but I think we've been over this 9000 times.

We should work on the difficult task that is making criteria.

I actually am leaning towards pro-ban.
1.Im mainly using Luigi now. XD
2. I don't think MK is that good. But hes just causing a lot of disagreement and frustration among the community. A ban could be good for multiple things.

You can't really make an objective criteria for a subjective matter.

no, they use just about any tactic that gets them ahead, reasonable or not.

It's true. Rhetorical implements carry a significantly higher weight, especially in America, than any kind of logic or reason.

In a little under a month, this thread has 70% of the posts that the rankings list thread has got in 22 months, and is approaching 50% of all posts in some characters boards (like G&W and bowser)

nah MK doesnt over-centralise the metagame at all LOL

However, you can make a criteria that every reasonable person agrees with.
I don't think so. Its a subjective matter. Even if MK was winning 100% of tournaments via planking, if people preferred the game that way it shouldn't be changed.

The only truly objective criteria for banning would be tournament attendance. If we could prove that tourney attendance was declining at a steep rate directly due to MK then that would be objective criteria for a ban.

The whole argument that we can't come up with criteria because its subjective is starting to get irritating...How does MK winning every tournament (And that in of itself does not warrant a ban) change the fact that if everyone in the community agrees with a certain ban criteria (For present and future decisions) that it shouldn't be implemented? Your example shows that itself that if something is universal in the community, then it would be foolish to ignore.

The only truly objective criteria for banning would be tournament attendance. If we could prove that tourney attendance was declining at a steep rate directly due to MK then that would be objective criteria for a ban.
This is part of the reason a temp-ban was proposed. And I would agree that if tournament attendance went up, then the game is better without MK. However, if tournament attendance went down, I would instantly be converted to anti-ban.

People ***** about it because its a **** move. If MK does ever get banned, the group is just going to basically give the middle finger to the SBR and the entire anti-ban community (which is the majority, if you haven't realized).

And no TO's on the anti-ban side have pledged to ban MK if the SBR decides to ban him... That just sounds stupid. The only thing remotely similiar to that is a TO being like "Well, I WANT to ban MK... But I'm afraid people won't come to my tournament or they'll complain if I do...", so they'll just wait to see if the SBR will ban MK.

And last I checked, Xyro is only hosting MK-banned tournaments every other time because it was hurting players in Texas for when they would travel OOS to a MK-allowed tourney...

And I'm surprised you even joined Omni's group since you yourself switched from being proban to being on the fence to being antiban and back and forth at least like 4 times now. And I just want to let you know, that if the SBR bans MK and you decide to still host a MK-allowed tournament.... I don't care if I'm your best friend, I'm not going to it.... <_<
