Man I've looked through all the percentage fonts and every single one always seems like a step down from the regular one... Can someone make one that is the same size or bigger than the original, and also with a nicer font? Same for the clock too

Does anyone know where the offset for the purple on FD is?
do you mean the magenta (ff00ff) highlights on and around the top surface?

if so, they are at 7970 and 7B80

btw. I am at the moment just finding all the importatnt offsets for this stage, I'll soon post them IN PLAIN TEXT SO PEOPLE SEARCHING FOR IT CAN ACTUALLY FIND IT; UNLIKE ALL THE OTHER BOZOS WHO THOUGHT BAOUT SHARING THIS INFORMATINO BEFORE LIKE THIS JACKASS; BLESS BE HE FOR DOING SOME WORK; BUT STILL WHAT A A JACKASS.

Can someone reupload Spooky Story w/ Parabones and Boo? Download link seems to be down.
Here's a new Spooky Story; I didn't have a copy of it either, so I recreated it with two existing stage uploads. Also, I noticed that the parabones didn't have a flying animation! So I made new frames for that, modified Randall, touched up the Boo, and made a new sign that he carries. I'd like to do more with this stage at some point.

We can't access old and important information.
Since battlefield was my first mod and it hardly required any digging into the file in a hex editor I didn't know I could simply find it there. I used the texture wizard exclusively for my battlefield reskin.


do you by any chance also know where I can find the FD offsets that I'm still missing?

I made another version with the king boo crown that @SillyGoose made, put onto your touched up boo, and with the sign removed. I can upload it if anyone wants this version.

I checked the textures in DTW and I can't seem to find why that wave from the original Yoshi's is still there. It's below the stage so you have to jump out and pause to see it, but you can also see it while doing stuff like suicide dairs or knees when the camera shakes.
EDIT again: Never mind, I found the fix to those wave things. Textures 0x8cf20 and 08xfa20 had messed up texture environment structure for some reason. Just go to the offsets 080C4 and 07FE8 then copy the hex from any other Yoshi's texture onto this one and the waves shows up as normal.

ok so for the original yoshi wave issue, i cannot be entirely helpful as i do not recall if this is actually how i solved the issue i am about to explain. in yoshi's story, there are several textures created for draw distance (i think this is what they're for anyway). what i mean by this is that there is the top layer, where players are close enough for the camera to be as zoomed in as possible, then there is a 2nd layer, when the camera is a bit more zoomed out, and then finally a 3rd layer, when the camera reaches max zoom out. in order to solve this and find the texture i would recommend simply checking the box to dump textures when you load up yoshi's story, and then doing whatever it is you did to make that wave appear. once that wave appears, you're then going to have to find that wave in the dump folder, convert it to a tcl (i think? i haven't done hacks in so long..) open that in hexeditor, open the yoshi story dol, find a match for the tcl's hex, and then you can overwrite the hex with your own custom texture (which must be converted to tcl, and then copy that hex over the original). why this does not appear in DTW is not something i can answer nor speculate. i do not understand how that program works, specifically on how it pulls images. anyway, hope this helps. good luck

I just spoke to the owner/creator of Modulous.net, and I would highly advise everyone to start moving their skins to that site. Soon he will be adding a tag system similar to Booru sites, so searching for skins/stages will be extremely easy. Although it may act as simply a place to discuss textures, the main and initial purpose of this thread will simply be replaced by Modulous, as all skins are submitted via user rather than 1 or 2 people adding them in. It's been a cool ride guys, I didn't think the thread would ever grow to be this large and populated, and I am honestly very happy with the way the community is headed in the direction of extreme creativity. So keep on making cool textures guys, but please please please go to Modulous. Thanks


FAQ
  • Q: How do I get my skin/costume/texture on the first post?
  • A: The first two posts here are no longer maintained, because there are so many costume & mod entries that the pages have become laggy and difficult to edit. However, with Modulous, these post repositories are no longer needed, and it is recommended that you upload your costume to there and give it proper tags so it can be easily found by those searching for costumes.
  • Q: How do I replace a costume in my game? What about a specific texture?
  • A: Download the costume and download DAT Texture Wizard (DTW). Open your ISO in DTW and use the descriptions to look for the file you want to replace (you can also click on the "Disc Shortcuts" to jump to a specific section), and import the new costume file you just downloaded over the original that's in your game (select the file, click Import). This program can also replace individual textures in your disc or a DAT and other game files (stage/character/menu/etc). The program is pretty strait-forward, and comes with a ReadMe file to refer to if you want to know more.
  • Q: I'm trying to use a new Character Select Screen (CSS) that I downloaded, but it's not working. What's wrong?
  • A: CSS file designed to work with 20XXHP v4+ is not compatible with vanilla Melee, and vice versa. So if you want to use the textures, you'll need to export them from the new CSS file itself, and then import those textures into the CSS file for/in your game. (See the ReadMe file with DTW for directions on how to do that.)
  • Q: What if I want to import a character meant for a red alternate over a blue alternate (e.g. a red Falcon costume, PlCaRe, to replace one of his blue ones, PlCaBu)?
  • A: You can use the Character Color Converter (CCC) tab built into DTW to do this.
  • Q: How do I change the port/doors that close over the character images on the Character Select Screen?
  • A: Read this. (Particularly, the spoiler on "Creating CSS panels in GIMP".)
  • Q: This thing doesn't have a texture, how do I change its color? How do I change the light that reflects off of it, or remove the thing entirely?
  • A: Questions like these and other advanced costume hacking options may be answered/discussed here: Advanced Costume Hacks, and you may also have luck here: Changing Color Effects in Melee!
  • Q: Is this thread a good place to post questions?
  • A: Yes. Although if it's to ask about or report a potential bug with DTW, or it's a question on how to use the program (first, remember that it comes with a ReadMe file to help), please post in the thread for DTW. If you're having trouble importing a specific texture, please state what steps you're performing, and post the texture in question.
  • Q: Are there any other methods to hack textures? What if DTW doesn't show the texture I want to edit?
  • A: Although most textures are available through DTW, there are still a few that aren't. For those, or if you just want/need to do something another way, you can read the guide created before DTW, which entirely covers the old method of hacking textures: How to Hack Any Texture
  • Q: Are there any guides for making CSPs?
  • A: Yes.
