The time limit is at 8 minutes so that agressive players have a better chance against stallish campers.
Ummmm... thats a bit back words, it actually gives the "campers" somewhat an advantage.

But in the end, having it on 8 mins will prevent very little "stalling" or "camping".
All it will do is have matches way longer than they should it.

8 mins is just too much time and it would be best suited at 6 or 7 mins.

EDIT: Actually, now I'm a bit worried about this event.
How do you guys judge the winner whenever the match is taken to a Sudden Death?

Pozer: More time doesn't help campers. It's harder to successfully camp for a longer period of time than for a shorter period of time...also, this is all likely a non-issue. Notice it's an 8 minute time LIMIT. Meaning that's the maximum time a match can take. However, the average match length is around 3-5 minutes, so it's very unlikely we'll have any that go past the time limit. The time limit is more of an insurance policy than anything. It was the same way in competitive melee. You don't have anything to worry about.

Edit: Granted, I would've had a 6 minute time limit instead of 8, but it shouldn't affect much, if anything.

That's pretty much what I was going to say, minus the edit. It doesn't really matter. It won't effect play.

Mmmm...

Alphabravo said how we judge matches if it comes down to sudden death. Similar if not the same as MLG, right?

The rules can't be changed right now. I don't know why, but they can't. And remember that it's just a time limit: that does not necessarily mean that every match will be 8 minutes long.

If you're looking for someone to split a room with, you're probably going to have to find the list of attendees, probably from DFG, and then contact them accordingly. Otherwise I'm thinking that you won't be able to do it. As for paying, you don't have to show up for one of the days if you don't want to, just come on the day of your event.

Ummmmmmm... ok? That... didn't answer much at all =/

Oh well, I don't mind the 8 mins.
Seeing as how I play Snake, it will just be longer matches for me.

Errr...if my post didn't explain anything, I guess I have no idea what your issue was with the time limit. Anyway, hope you can come. $10 MM?

Yo, this is DancingFighterG. I will make sure we have at least two VCR's so that we can record matches. I need to find some more though. At least all finals matches will be recored on tape and I will leave rival matches, money matches, etc to players.

Ferdi- due to some technical problems with the projector I can only record the matches on a video camera. I will talk to my guys today so we can make a copy of the one that we have now and I can give you the orginal. We need the footage for a our promo video for Cutthroat for next season.

Alphabravo - No problem man. My smash players in Colorado have always supported Cutthroat and the NVGA so the x-topia chapter is no different. You will get the same love as them except when you take the title this year :)

PozerWolf - Don't worry about the event. As the tourament director for this event I expect great things like we do in Colorado. We have both the entire NVGA on this event and I expect nothing but good things to happen. Tournament directoring is what I do. Just come and have fun.

You heard the man...advertise, advertise, advertise!

I will be talking to as many of the "old" NM smashers as I can to try and convince them to attend this event.

Good to hear from you Tetsuya. Hope you can make it.

Hmmm...meanwhile I'll be trying to convince myself that I'm attending the event. I could perhaps be in California. Perhaps though...maybe. Hopefully not.

What up Tetsuya? It's been a while dude. Hope you guys come down, it's always cool to see familiar faces.

Oh and Pozerwolf, I don't think that Ferdi was completely serious about a $100 MM. Only half-way, hehe.

lol good to hear from the el paso smashers

Can't you guys remember your account information.

Anyways, this tournament should be interesting. Remember that the smash portion of the event is only occuring on 23rd and 24th. There are also animecons and gaming industry portions from the beginning of the event till the end. The SuperCon officially starts on the 22nd and ends on the 25th.

lol, yeah so sorry.
I feel kind of dumb right now.

Perty much I was going to hit by a tournament that was supposed to take place in AZ and I thought this was the tournament.

Took me a while to figure out what "NM" was, lol!!
I thought it was something related to money matches XD

Yo, this is DancingFighterG. Colorado Smash players who are going to SuperCon. Let me know what help you need gas wise to get down there. Right now I can give up about $50 in gas money. I'll let you know next week if I can do anything else. Whoever is driving needs to call me because I will need receipts and everything for this.

So the venue fee has gone from $30 to $10 and now back to $30.

Eh, that doesn't make much sense to me. I know a lot of people who aren't going to be happy with this.

Its 20$ for all three days total. You only have to pay once.

I don't get it either.
If you preregister its 20 dollars for the whole event. If you didn't its thirty dollars for the whole event...

Zman, i don't know actually.

For three days? Isn't the supercon four days long? Actually, it doesn't really matter because most competitive gamers will only be showing up on the days of the tournaments anyway.

Yo, this is DancingFighterG. SuperCon IS Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday but you can't get in until 7:00pm on Thursday night. We will doing all setup on Thursday. The venue fee is not that complicated. Standard for all big tournaments. The venue has always been the same

$20 - pre-reg
$30 - door

This has always been the case on the website. Pot has always been the same as well. If we get about 100+ players the pot is going to be pretty with especially with the 200+ pot bonus. Trust in us and everything will go fine guys. This is what we do. Trust in the NVGA.

Yo, this is not DancingFighterG. I totally just registered...see you guys there

EDIT: Hey, I meant to ask, its only $10 if you show up only for the tourney correct? I am not really looking forward to having to pay more than $10 again for a tourney
