If we seriously always need results, let's just bring flash drives, ask to copy results, and post them ourselves. It's so easy and it relieves extra work some people have to do. It's like always asking a youtuber who only wants to upload what they want upload but some people keep asking them to upload sets of friendlies and stuff. They could do the work themselves if they want themselves up on youtube

What work? It takes like 1 minute to copy the results from tio (tio even has a button to instantly do that) and it's part of the TOing process.

Idk TOing, but don't let things pile up on 1 guy. It's not nice
I don't know what you're talking about dude. There are 3 main responsibilites of a TO: setting things up / advertising, actually running the tournament, and concluding the tournament (can involve a written recap but often times in Smash just a results thread). TOs can delegate any or all of these responsibilities to other people, but the bottom line is that the TO should take some form of responsibility over it. If not, might as well call it a smashfest that happened to have a side event bracket rather than advertise it as a tournament.

The real tragedy is that SmashBoards hasn't automated all of this yet. It'd be so awesome to just click an "Upload Tournament Results" button in Tio and have a thread instantly generated with all the info organized, bracket image displayed, character icons for each player, and Elo rating changes.

But then, I've always been an idealist so the chances of me being satisfied with something are virtually zero.

idk man tournament looks pretty concluded to me

sorry i can't conform to your standards, maybe you should TO?
If you can't conform to basic standards perhaps you should stop criticizing other TOs so much, tbh. In case you've forgotten, I'm one of the lead TOs in the SSB64 community and have run the most successful tournaments for the game in North America, both in terms of planning and logistics.

alright let me get this straight, you:

1) come into my thread asking for results (which is fine)
2) aggressively argue with epsilon's sympathetic suggestion
3) berate my integrity as a TO with your arbitrary standards
4) try to change my 'ways' with a fallacious argument
5) stroke your ego with an irrelevant statement

i'm guessing you see me as some sort of lazy basement host that doesn't really care so much about the state of the community, and that's fine, but i don't understand why you're instigating so much if you're really looking for a constructive discussion.

I think people would care less if it was too easy
I don't see why people would care more or less based on how easy or difficult it is for TOs to upload results. If anything, I think people would care less if it were difficult. Most people get annoyed by results not getting posted because of how easy it already is (save bracket image, upload to image hosting website, paste link in thread along with placings list copied straight from Tio).

Sypher, any chance you're hosting during Evo weekend so everyone can play, chill, and watch the stream? You won't have to post Evo's results, I promise. ;)
