I'm just excited that there is a chance that Ninten is actually playable and the fans will be absolutely shocked.

Since I like to believe that different kinds of people want different kinds of characters (for the most part, not trying to generalize people here), I do wonder if Porky fans will either be happy to see a Mother character in or salty that a Mother character did get in, but it was not the one they wanted to see.

Nothing against Porky or his fans, but Mother 2 is already represented and I would prefer to see Ninten to represent the first game. Though I do see Porky being a realizable fighter, but not likely this time around given the height of Brave.
The same applies for other characters such as Duster or the Masked Man. They COULD be cool characters, but just like the Zelda franchise, I would prefer to have some variety of Mother characters in Smash, instead of most of them being from one game or a game that already has an existing fighter in.

And yes I admit that I'm a Ninten fan, but my point still stands.

I agree. I'd kill for Masked Man, but Mother 1 needs a rep first. It's just as important as the other two.

Ninten is obviously my choice for a Mother rep (and my second most wanted), and if he can't be the Mother rep, I would love it to be Duster or Claus.

Ninten getting in would mean that all the Mother protags are in Smash, and it would actually increase the chances of Mother getting more reps, like Porky and Claus, in the future. If we got another Earthbound or Mother 3 rep in Smash before Mother 1 is repped in Smash, that would not bode well for any Mother 1 character in the future, unless the most requested Mother rep is a Mother 1 rep (most likely our boy) after that, that is.

TL;DR Ninten needs to be in wave 1 DLC

I really think he is in wave 1 as well. A direct would be killer around now.

Adding to that, the fact that Porky doesn't have a spirit at all would increase the resentment even further. You can't even count the ASC, since it's the empty variant of it. So unless they add DLC bosses (which I find doubtful at this stage), Porky will effectively be absent for the first time after his spotless attendance record for the last two games.

Now that they said they are redoing Metroid Prime 4 (imo the reason we didn't have a direct early-mid January,they wanted to show something from MP4 but they didn't like how the game turned out,that's why they held it back),Piranha Plant coming out (and a 2.0 patch),and the new leaked amiibos I'm pretty sure we are going to have a direct soon.

I find it interesting that they've decided to give :ultpokemontrainer: and his Pokémon separate amiibo, and not just put everyone on the same stand, as previously thought(guess it would have been too big). Especially PT by himself, it's quite daring to do physical merchandise of a trainer, rather than just the Pokémon.

Maybe because the trainer + 3 Pokemon in a single amiibo stand was just too big.
(And also more money if they are sold separately,if they make an amiibo of Leaf it's going to sell really well)

Now, about Porky missing as a spirit, people use him being a boss in Brawl to justify his spirit absence being odd. Sakurai thought Mother 3 was going to be localized at the time of Brawl. He wouldn't have included Lucas as a playable fighter if he knew Mother 3 was not going to be localized (found this out from source gaming). The reason Porky was a boss as well was also likely due to Sakurai thinking that Mother 3 was going to be localized. This means that Porky being a boss in Brawl can't be used to justify his spirit absence being odd.

Now we move on to Smash 4. Lucas was added as DLC due to the fan demand, and Porky was a trophy in his Mother 3 mech. While this could be used to justify his spirit absence being odd, let me tell you of 3 other characters who were trophies in Smash 4 and are not spirits in Ultimate - Mystery Creature (Metroid character), Dry Bones, and Pacman's ****ing house. Again, these 3 characters are not spirits in Ultimate. Do you really think Mystery Creature, Dry Bones, and Pacman's house are going to be DLC!?!? Exactly. Porky being a trophy in Smash 4 is the only thing that can be used to justify his spirit absence being odd. The same thing could be said for Mystery Creature, Dry Bones, and Pacman's house.

Personally, I'm pumped for the Ivysaur Amiibo. I'm glad they're making separate ones since Charizard has a unique one to himself and all. Also please make an Amiibo of Leaf

Still no direct info? Ugh... If there isn't news by the end of the day I'm going to give up on the thought of getting one this week.

There might be a few things holding back the direct. Metroid news might be one reason, but I don't believe it's enough to send the whole thing flying back. There's no way they just suddenly turned on it. They've had to have known the state of the game for a while now. So I feel like there might be a bit more. The whole Brave datamine might have also coerced Nintendo into revealing him earlier so maybe they also had to rush a trailer? Who knows honestly. It has been almost four months with no regular direct and that's a wee bit suspect.

I'm also really excited about Pacman's house being DLC too. Excellent choice for a Bandai Namco rep! /s

Also, if it's a Smash direct, I don't think they would have to delay the direct.

I hope it isn't delayed though. If the update is still available by Feb 1st, then I expect a direct by Feb 1st

I basically have an entire folder of memes from the Smash 4 days saved on my super old iPad. Sometimes they still can be useful.

In all seriousness, it might be just Homerun contest and maybe boss rush. I'm gonna laugh if boss rush comes and there's no Enderdragon. Joker and Brave might get some stat updates, but I'm doubting their heights will change. Also everyone is now suddenly thinking that Jack's height is too small to be Joker which is kinda hilarious when he has a Chibi form from Persona Q2 which is the most recent interpretation of Joker. If people can rationalize Erdrick as Ness's height, not sure why they can't do the same for Joker being around Young Link's when the boy is probably gonna end up looking like this.



Either way, I'm intrigued. Mine apparently drops tonight so I'll for sure find out by then.

I actually think the Chibi form is decently likely, but maybe I'm just biased towards chibis I dunno. I'd love to play as a smol speedy boy. If his height stat stays the same I will laugh so hard.

Lol yeah. Sakurai uses the most iconic designs of the character, so imo it would be kinda weird to use Joker's chibi form.

Target smash, boss rush that could add new bosses, home run contest....or maybe this isn't a new mode. Maybe it's something else. And we should know by tonight.

Shrug Also depends on what Atlus wants I guess too. Guess we'll have to see.

I do wonder if all the changes that 2.0.0 brings will be up front and present from the get go. Or, if they'll be gradually unlocked over a duration of time or waiting to be annouced in something like a direct before being unlocked to the public.

I don’t think there’s any chance of chibi Joker getting in. Sakurai uses the iconic versions of the characters, and Joker being a tall lanky badass is too big a part of his aesthetic.
