Would all the Brawl + haters just stop posting. This is a thread discussing Falco in brawl+, as Brawl+ is only one subforum and so does not have the space for character specific threads. Thank you.

Now onto topic: Yes Falco's CG is gone but it doesn't make his dthrow any less pimp. It sends them at just the right trajectory to combo into all of Falco's aerials and so lead onto further comboing. Apart from this now lack of CG Falco doesn't play any differently, at all, seriously. If you can do Falco's AT's in Brawl you can do them in Brawl+ (except SHDL but thats easier anyway as you can just button mash that).

Also as a fun fact that I keep telling Almas, that he thens tells the community only for them to not understand him, with the current Brawl+ codeset you can BPG without actually putting in any dash attack. Essentially somewhere along the line the pivot grab retains its momentum and so becomes a BPG. Easy.

When I feel like doing combos and stuff, just play Melee lol.
Did you think about the different features Brawl has compared to Melee? Do you know that majority moved on to Brawl and left Melee behind? Did you know that Brawl enables WiFi even though it sucks? Did you know that by allowing WiFi, it allows people who plays competitively to find fun competitive matches online? I'm a Melee player myself, but I go where the game holds potential. Brawl+ is where I'm gonna be playing. Melee is one of the best, and I still prefer it over Brawl/Brawl+ but there's not much of a point if no one really plays Melee anymore.

Now, replace all the "Brawl" I mentioned with "Brawl+". Guess what? They both have different features than Melee. Surprise surprise.

Not to be rude, for those who want to play Melee, they will play Melee. Your argument doesn't support anything.

Brawl+ is Brawl with combos and more. It's pretty much not even Brawl even more, more like a fanbased Super Smash Bros. 4.

For those who want to stick with Brawl, go right ahead, you don't need to join us. For those who LOST INTEREST IN BRAWL or wants something NEW in Brawl, join us at Brawl+. That's all we're asking. We're not forcing anything upon players. We're just trying to open up to potential players.

A lot of people already bashed on B+ without even trying it. But where do B+ players come from? Wow guess what? From people who played BRAWL. Isn't that so surprising?

Thanks for reading. It doesn't hurt to give B+ a try.

lol @ people taking me so seriously.

I'm not saying Brawl>>>Brawl+. When I said Brawl+ is dumb, I meant the simple fact that hacking a game to make a game more competitive is ridiculous. If Brawl was originally what Brawl+ is, then great, that's even better, but it's not.

Bottom line is that I'm definitely not going to go out of my way to play a fake game competitively. I'd rather pick up Smash64 again (which I actually plan on doing xD).

Brawl+ is just as easy to set up. It literally takes like 8 mins at most the first time. After that its a matter of turning on your console. I dont see what the big difference is that makes it so much worse to mod a console then a computer.

hmm , wont play a fake game competitively? Ever heard of Counterstrike?
Counterstike is more a revamp of Half life. It's like Dota to WCIII. You'd never say those two games are even remotely similar. The only similarity is that they both use the same character models.

Brawl+ is just what the brawl community thinks to be "how it's meant to be played," put into motion. You can't compare Brawl+ to counterstrike, because the additions made onto core gameplay are too different from HL to CS, in comparison of Brawl to Brawl+

P.S. what does vbrawl mean

Hey, I have an idea.

if you want brawl to be more like melee, go play melee. Melee is better at being melee than brawl could ever hope to be.

Again, Brawl+ is not Melee 2.0.

Really? Well adding hitstun, melee airdodge and all the things that brawl makes you butt-hurt about brawl sounds a lot like melee 2.0 to me.

1) Brawl has hitstun, it is just very minimal
2) Brawl does not work with the melee airdoge system
3) Brawl, Melee and Brawl+ are all different games so would you please just stop

****, I didn't know that, thanks there bro.

All right, I just presumed it was still apart of brawl+.

Would I please just stop? The melee v0.5 dick is just being shoved down everyone's throats, "Omg broll is boring let's all hack our wiis so we can add really competitive **** like auto l-cancelz."

I really don't know why this needs to be posted on the Brawl forum, just use the melee v0.5 subforum, sure, you don't have character specific boards yet. But there can't be that many people playing melee v0.5 that it would get crowded.

True that a Brawl+ thread has popped up in the Brawl forums but if you look in the Brawl+ subforum then you will see that it is already too crowded. There is not enough room for character specific threads in there and as such it would make sense to temporarily make a thread in a place that many Falco players visit.

Also as another thing I don't appreciate it being called Melee v0.5. You can call it whatever you want, just don't relate it to Melee.

Edit: But yes as another point, people that slate SSBB are also idiots. Everyone prefers a different game out of the series there is no need to slate the others.

My personal preference is Melee>Brawl+>Brawl (I have not played 64) in case you wanted to know.

"Shoved down everyone's throats?" Someone made ONE thread in the Falco boards, saying 'here's a change to Falco from Brawl to Brawl+. It's not like they're cluttering up this board; you can full well not read it if you don't like B+.

One thread which, by the way, was of interest to a few people playing Falco. I liked it; I don't play Brawl+ but I might try it someday. A few other people cared, and had civil responses on the first page or two.

If you don't like it, don't read it.

The general Brawl+ community isn't a good one to be honest. They slate Brawl whenever they have the chance and most of the time its unprovoked. This is not giving Brawl+ a good name and as such is why many people are ignorant to Brawl+. Brawl players just please try and ignore these individuals and don't judge Brawl+ before you try it.

Edit: FTL: This thread does hijack the Brawl subforum and as such we should just respect them for allowing us to keep it here.

For those who think "Brawl+ is Melee 2.0". It can NEVER be Melee 2.0 no matter how hard we try. Wavedashing isn't the same (it isn't even in B+), you need crazy technical abilities which even B+ doesn't have (B+ is so newb friendly, just pick up and play but it may take a bit of practice to be good like any other game), L-cancel by actually applying it instead of having it auto, etc.

B+ can't achieve what Melee has so therefore, B+ can never be a "Melee 2.0" Nor was B+'s intention to become close to Melee 2.0. All we wanted was a more fun, competitive, balanced-roster.

B+ is pretty much on its own categorie now. It's not Brawl, it's like a fanbased SSB4.

It'd be nice if we get character boards over at B+, but you gotta remember. It's under "Smash Workshop" and even that doesn't mean B+. It's hacking in general. Until we have a character specific board, I'm sorry to say that we may need to your character specific boards.

That was a fairly ignorant thing of me to sorry, sorry.

Thank you, this was the best post made so far in this thread by a B+'er. I really don't have a problem with brawl+ being discussed here, but as you said, brawl+ threads turn into, "Broll suckzorz lrn2broll+."

All right, you guys can just go discuss your thing, I'll leave you alone now.

Switch, you, among many others, have a very different view of what Brawl+ offers. I hope this post will supply you with information so you can realize how Brawl+ is not just a melee 2.0, but our attempt at making a more balanced and high paced version of Brawl.

First, character specific buffs and nerfs. Each character has had their Short Hop, Full Hop, Fast Fall, & Gravities optimized for their gameplay through many iterations and extensive testing (through our Back Room which is hidden from public view here on Smashboards). Additionally, characters can have every individual move modified to our liking. For instance, MK now recieves higher knockback and as such dies approximately 11% earlier. Ganondorf has a faster jab as another example. The infinite grab releases on Ness/Lucas have been removed and jab locks have been removed as well.

Hitstun modifications: Not nearly as drastic as you think. Earlier versions of Brawl+ were way too heavy handed and not reflective of the current settings. The higher speed offered from character specific gravities & FF speeds have led to an increase in hitstun of about 8%, which is not that large of an increase at all.

Momentum: This is a more recent development which plays amazing. Dash speed now transfers to jumps so your character doesn't feel like a dead weight once it exits a dash.

No Autosweetspot ledges: Like 64 & Melee, this is brought in to enhance the edgeguarding. We have introduced a bit more shieldstun to make approaching slightly safer. The end goal is to make offense/defense perfectly balanced, but getting there is impossible.

Aerial Lag reduction: Rather than implementing L-Cancelling (just a mindless reflex any competitive player can do), characters recieve approximately 50% aerial lag reduction. This opens up a huge world of new approaches and combos and feels great.

No Tripping & Better Dash Dancing: Self-explanaotry and awesome.

The sum of all these codes (and plenty more I haven't listed) brings out an extremely fun and competitive game. We take great caution to try and preserve as much metagame of Brawl as possible while opening up new avenues for combos and approaches, as well as narrowing the disparity of the tier list as well. I broadcast livestream matches reguarly if you want to see some.

We weren't asking you to leave. We were just trying to defend Brawl+ 'cause many people bash it without ever trying it. You may have tried it, but it might've been an old codeset which pretty much makes combos a guaranteed thing. In the latest codeset of B+, combos don't come by as often as you think it would. It still involves reading of the player's reaction and mindgames.

We're just hoping more people would give it a try later on.

There is tripping, but just not for the attacks that enforces tripping like many dTilts and Diddy's bananas. Just clearing it up for those who might think there's no tripping at all.

um what happens to zelda in brawl+? some of her good points actually trive in brawl but may drop for brawl+, just asking.
Zelda's better now in my opinion. A useful technique that you couldn't use in Brawl was her dTilt. It was hardly used 'cause there's no crouch cancelling. Now that crouch cancelling available, you can dash into a dTilt and make them trip which leands into another attack.

This video hasn't been updated to the latest codeset, but gives you somewhat an idea of how Zelda performs:

Rikana meant to say that there is tripping but ONLY for moves that cause tripping. Tripping instead of an action has been removed.

Edit: That triple fair combo video that advertises Brawl+ is very bad and does not represent Brawl+ in anyway. (This is a video that may appear when searching for Brawl+ vids)

I haven't actually tried brawl+ (it's difficult to get codes for Japanese brawl).

I also haven't been reading this thread.

But is falco's inability to chaingrab detrimental to his success in brawl+? I was just wondering, even though I'm pretty happy with vanilla brawl.

Crounch Cancelling ? Why was that added to Brawl+ ? This is not natural at all.
(and yes Zelda's Dtit is used in Brawl, it's one of her very good moves)

Aerial Reduction ? Guys... Seriously.

CCing was in the 64 was it not? so its just readding back in what was an original staple right.
but yes Zeldas Dtilt is very useful in vBrawl. from the vid it seems like shes about the same.

I think you've got it all wrong. Crouch Canceling as in canceling a dash by crouching so you can do anything afterwards.

Uh no. Crouch canceling is crouching right after you get struck by an attack. This causes your character to slide across the stage's floor in a more downward trajectory and reduce knockback. At lower percents CC would make attacks have nearly no knock back at all.

Classic examples of CC utilized are Shine, and Peach's and Samus's dsmashes. Cancelling a dash by tapping down while running is dash canceling.

He used the wrong term. We have reinstated Dash Cancelling via a crouch, too many people call it CC without realizing what it was from melee.

O_O

I thought L-cancelling and a bit of extra hitstun would be cool, but I don't think crouch cancelling is needed lol.

Anyway.

Lol I've played Melee before and I know what Crouch Canceling is. It's just that people gave the wrong term for it in Brawl+

The actual term is called Dash Canceling seeing as how you cancel your running animation by crouching.

So you're reusing a term from melee (CC), but to describe dash canceling? ...

Why? I think B+ community should get their facts straight before tossing terms here and there, (I'm not targetting anyone), and we should --starting now-- call it what it is.

I think it was just Muba messing up. The code is in fact called Dash Cancelling because its cancelling a dash from using a crouch. We call it Dash Cancelling, but some people who may not have played melee might not know the term and instinctively call it crouch cancelling.

Maybe rename it to Crouch Dash Cancel to make it obvious?
