Yes congrats on knowing how one player did in pools...you only know how he did cuz u were in the same pool as him LOL. How did tec0, copy, doyoung, eggm, oorah and sneak do in pools? Cuz unless you can tell me all that, I consider your knowledge of one player pretty FU*KING worthless.

Being good has nothing to do with being a good panelist. Hell I suck, but I'm much better than most of the community at creating a decent list. Ya know why? Cuz I know how to stick to structure. You make rules that can give you an objective view of the community, and than you stick to those rules. You go off bias and personal experience. And no matter what anyone says you can't get through your head the fact that this list DOES NOT DETERMINE SKILL LEVEL.
I told you how HBK did, didn't I? I also know that Tec0 beat Chaddd, Eggm lost to XIF and beat Kirbstir, blah blah blah.

Uh... You had no idea that teh_spamerer was a monster at Smash last time I saw you IRL, so you must be pretty left out when it comes to skill opinions and stuff, which should factour into lists. Going 100% by just numbers and tourny results is awful.

I didn't get to discuss the list because I had no internet access.

Wow the list doesn't DOESN"T D O E S N"T REFLECT SKILL! Why keep arguing? If someone should be higher because they are better then a new list would need to be made.

Cool, then don't count VLS at all even though it's a major tournament.
No no no. It's counted of course just not the pools results as I said earlier since we don't h.....nevermind I'm not repeating myself :dizzy:

Besides Emblem Lord being able to kick more *** then his tourney rankings show, I wanna play some Brawl. I'll be on tonight around 8. Add me and face the Falco people!!

I know them, for the most part. Not counting them because the rest of the panelists neglected to monitor their own players isn't fair to people like HBK and Marcel.

Most is not enough. Just one thing missing makes everything invalid. I beat KDJ @ VLS. Did you know that? I should be ranked higher :psycho:

Edit: I added Cheezit, Xzax and Dmbrandon to my Brawl FC code stuff. Add me back:

My Brawl FC code: 2621-2108-6146

go to any burger king, mcdonald's, or wendy's and you'll see the same type of thing with basic hamburger/cheeseburger/doublecheesburger/baconcheeseburger due to the invention of the value menu

chicken nuggets too

point being it's not just your town, it's america

LMFAO

>_> I guess your right but mine is glaringly more obvious >_< I mean people can get tricked by value menus.

Who can they possibly be planning to trick with the prices that I showed?

im still quite annoyed at online. nintendo needs to get their act together and get the US servers ready. the current lag on jp servers is inexcusable. kinda makes ladder matches tough on gamebattles

isn't smash online p2p? then the lag is YOUR fault, not the server's
no it goes through a server. and in the current case, a server in japan. that connection is running from system a to their ISP, to japan, to ur opponents ISP to their system. hence the crazy input lag. i dunno when US servers will b up

from what i understand, all the server does is connect two people directly (the same thing dc++ does) and once a game starts, the server is out of the equation

i lag a lot when playing some people and not very much when playing other people - i'm mildly certain this is how it works

I really want to get good at brawl and would love to play with some local NJ players. Played a decent amount of n64 and melee but never really did anything serious. Loving Brawl so far though!

so wait, are you saying that the lag is dependent of the server and I'll have just as little lag as someone with Cable/Fios will? Cuz I really doubt that, and this is why I refuse to online from my house, cuz it's beyond terrible
stop comlpaining about ur house lol. dsl isnt that bad, its still broadband. it depends on both peoples speed.

from what i understand, all the server does is connect two people directly (the same thing dc++ does) and once a game starts, the server is out of the equation

in the case of centralized online gaming, a server is always used. this is why sometimes games go down from so many ppl being online as it practically overloads the server. think of it this way. when ur playing brawl with someone, your both sending data to the server, and the server sends data back to u. you can kind of think of it like the two systems playing are like two big controllers hooked up to one system which is nintendos server. the server reads the input (buttons you press), then sends back what happens (how your opponent moves on your screen and such).

however the server has to make sure that everything happens at the same time, this is why if someone with DSL is facing someone with fios, the dsl line brings it all down. the server sort of has to match the delay time with the fios person that the dsl one has to that theyr even. kinda hard to explain.

in short, data is constantly flowing between both systems and the server. right now even if both systems are located near each other, the fact that the server is located way out there in japan means it takes a while for that information to go through. now the connections are still fast, which is why not much "lag" happens, but instead its mainly "input delay." but normally people just call all of it lag.

Also, once were on US servers, the DLC we'll receive will be in american. aka, all these custom stages will have titles written in english, not japanese characters.

so does the game not work the way starcraft/battle.net did?

it seems awfully stupid to randomly put a server in the middle of everything when you could just have a true peer-to-peer and have less lag, not have to maintain the server, be concerned with load issues etc

do you have any proof for what you're saying? (link or something would be nice - i'm very curious about how the wifi works)

i tried looking for info on this. im technically not 100% on all of this but im fairly sure. i think other gaming services work the same way such as xbox live. there is a way to find out but it would be tough. find some sort of program or something that can read the information being sent over your network, so perhaps theres a way to read where the packets the wii is sending, another system, or a server in japan.

but yea brawl is def using a jp server now with proof being the DLC, with anyone matches are near impossible to come by, and im getting almost the exact same lag that I got when I played it on the japanese version. if 2 ppl have fios speeds (which i had when i played azen), it just shouldnt have that much input delay. if the input delay was always that bad, i doubt they would even have an online mode.

i don't know how much latency you ACTUALLY had, but there will ALWAYS be 'some'... things played online are inherently much much laggier than over a network or even over the same console

edit: also from what i understand, most xbox live games are p2p too... can you at least link me to something about xbox live then?

I played a lot of Mario Strikers, and if both players had a good connection, their was very little noticable lag, pretty much the amount you would have on a smashacre cyberconexion tv, which isn't bad at all. So I'm guessing that when the server is run from the US, it should be a big improvement.

Also I hope they change around the way the random matches are played. I would like to be able to just go on and casually play random matches with people while still being able to set up some rules, like stocks, items, or friendly fire. And I wonder if they are planning on having a ranking of any kind like they did with strikers. Probably not...it seems they put very little effort into the wifi for brawl =/

lag is much less noticeable in a game like strikers than a game like smash...

and once again, i'm pretty sure games are p2p (and will continue to believe so until someone shows me a link stating otherwise), so server location won't affect anything at all (though MORE servers will making finding random matches go better/faster)

jfox just reminded me about strikers, i completely forgot about playing that. i remember playing that online and i didnt have any noticeable lag or input delay (for strikers anyway). cant just say its cause it was strikers, because the input delay i get in brawl is over a full second, which is clearly noticeable in any game. im confident that itl be better later.

I am not confident in that sense, whatsoever. Anyone who's played a fighting game besides Brawl online, knows what I'm talking about.

I wanna play 3s, now. Do you play ken?
i use to be big on it about a year or 2 ago, but i got tired of trying to maintain a decent level of play in that marvel and cvs2 and then when i picked up smash last year, i dropped 3rd strike all together, so im probbaly garbage now.
