First of all would depend on which third parties, but generally no. I would like at least one Nintendo character as a newcomer.

I wouldn't mind it, though that could be a bit upsetting to people who wanted a Nintendo newcomer. Besides Shovel Knight, Snake and Rayman are my go to choices.

Then we could have the ultimate 8-player Smash battle.

I would actually hate that it's all third party because we lost out on great Nintendo characters and unrepped franchises.

It would genuinely upset me that third parties have more regard over Nintendo characters. It's reason why I hope Smash 5/NX just have 3 to 4 third party characters and that's it.

X has been advertised well in Japan with 3 30 minute long directs. I agree that they haven't advertised it too much in the west though. They've shown it off quite a few times in treehouses at least.

Remember the Treehouse at Comic Con last year, that was straight boring just playing NES games and Smash 3DS. But Musurama Mystery Castle reveal was nice

Speculation is even more useless now than it was before. I honestly care more about DLC plans than I am for any particular character. At the end of the day, it's really not that big of a deal if Shovel Knight or whoever is in the game. I just want to know how much, and what (characters, stages, etc) we are getting.

The thing is all the major or important nintendo franchises are already repped in smash in some way,shape, or form.I mean DLC wise i can't see us getting an advance wars character,wario land character,panel de pon character,The last story,etc.Hell even golden sun is more than likely not to get any content through DLC despite isaac major support.Besides k rool,dixie,toad,wolf and arguabley impa what nintendo character are we truely missing that can be added?

Okay I've finally settled on Chibi-Robo in Smash as one of my predictions.

If Shovel Knight does make it, I think it's proof enough that "icon status" isn't a factor.

Not that we don't have evidence already, given the presence of several obscure characters already on the roster.

I honestly feel that if Shovel Knight is in, that it means the ballot is a bigger factor then many (or myself, at least) thought it would be.

I really thought Sakurai would just add who ever he wanted as DLC and use the ballot to prioritize one character over another (Toad over Bandanna Dee, for example.)

Shovel Knight really doesn't strike me as a Sakurai choice. Same could be said of any indie character. I could be wrong of course, but the only reason I see him making it in is ballot support in the West. I suppose the fact that he would create third party buzz with very little red tape would also make him appealing.
