Huh. Reminds me of the times I found a worm in my dresser. That was the day I realized what happened when you crush a worm.

JUST DROP THE ARGUMENTS! seriously, i'm tired of reading them over and over. change the subject and talk about something else!
But everything can be made into an argument. Changing the subject won't magically fix anything. Everyone has to respect each other (and their opinions), otherwise nothing will change. Also, not taking anything too seriously would go a long way.

Wait.... what am I talking about.... this is the Internet! :joyful:

We aren't afraid of what exists or doesn't exists
We know how to deal with what exists because we know how it works
We know things that doesn't exist can't hurt us
But the middle of it, the unknown, scares us because we don't know if they're there or how it works
And that's why disapearing spiders are the scariest **** ever

Time to burn my house down then. What's that? My sister's got crutches because of an operation and therefore can't move quite well? Survival of the fittest

Guys...

You know that posting copious amounts of gifts during an argument and making jokes about it makes it worse right.

I love gifts, though...
I meant gifs.

Make note, we will be enforcing those rules and infractions will be ha dead out soon.

People think they can ignore the rules. They cannot.

Not sure if my voice carries much, if any weight around here these days, but @ Swamp Sensei Swamp Sensei 's right. The arguing has gone on way too long. It's become a whirlpool of negativity that sucks everyone down, so much in fact that it becomes hard to see how deep you've sunk.

I know this from experience, having survived and escaped that spiral. It's given me a whole new perspective, one from which I can see what's going on whereas before I could not, not while I too was being pulled down into it.

I used to think the arguing was... special, somehow. It gives the thread a unique identity, and I think I allowed myself to be fooled into thinking that, while often competitive, it was sometimes endearing. Like we were just a bunch of rowdy friends being rough - tough love, as it were.

After things went too far several times in quick succession, I took a break for a week or two - and when I returned, something felt off. "Something's changed," I declared, though in truth, nothing had changed but my perspective. In that short amount of time, my head came up above the water long enough to see that those arguments are not so endearing; they often become disrespectful, and things have devolved into a competition to see who's the best. The arguments don't even rely on facts anymore - they rely on someone stomping their foot down hard enough to not budge, even if said foot needs to land on someone's throat. That is why I left.

But, you know what? Despite the arguing, I still love you guys. I love the riposte, some of the more brotherly ribbing, the analysis of leaked information as it comes trickling in - it feels like family, if a rather dysfunctional one.

Obviously, I haven't left for good, as I'm here now. You might think I've been gone all this time - that's not necessarily so. In fact, I've been watching the thread for about a month so, hoping to come back and join in again. However, two things have prevented this:

1) The thread simply moves too fast to keep up. You guys are pacing at like 3+ pages a day, and a lot of it is just quips and gifs. I can't even find the good quality posts through all the noise - sometimes I have to go back 6+ pages to find that content. There is literally nothing for me to respond to to get a foot in the door.

2) Every single time I check in, there's an argument going on. It's proving one conclusion correct: All the arguing has become part of your identity, but from the outsider's perspective looking in, there's nothing positive about it.

So, I dunno. I want to come back and have fun again, but I don't see the fun. There's no room for a quality conversation when you guys are bringing up Geno again and flat out ridiculing anyone who wants him in. Same as before, for some reason a person's dreams become a target for trashing the quality of a person's character. It's disrespectful towards anyone who doesn't think exactly like you.

I left, what... 6, 8 months ago? Something like that? I'd hoped something would improve over time, especially after the old thread got canned and reborn into this. I'm not seeing any improvement though.

So, yeah, there you have it. I couldn't tell you how many times I wrote up something similar to this in the past, saved it in a Notepad document, and thought "Nah... not yet." I probably still have a few saved, to be honest. Maybe that was hard to read, or maybe you'll disregard it outright since I've been absent so long. Whatever suits you best.

TL;DR, at the very least I want you to come away with this: You guys are all capable of intelligent, worthwhile conversation. There is so much you can do for each other and for yourselves. Please, for your own sake; Give it a break for a few days, maybe even a week like I have, and then look back at what you've been doing all this time. You're cheating yourselves out of so much, but you're so deep into the whirlpool that you can't see it. You need to pull yourselves up to understand what you're missing above.

Here's a topic, do you think they'll patch in aditional amiibo suport when more amiibo come out? For instance, Roy into Codename STEAM and FE: Fates or Ryu into Mario Kart 8.

Probably not MK8 but I can see Fates getting an update for Roy.

1. Reminder: posts with just images or gifs are not enough. Your post must be somewhat meaty. The mods and I aren't asking you to write an epic for every post but we are trying to keep the quality of conversation up.

2. 'Circle jerking' is bound to happen to some extent because we were an insular community for such a long time. We need to be aware of this, and remember to fight it as much as possible. Think about what a person said. It's okay to like a post if you don't agree with it. If it's well written and thought out it deserves your respect.

Remember kids: Anyone can post dank memes. Not everyone can actually carry an argument on the Internet in a respectable manner.

3. The negativity in the thread is something the other mods and I are aware of. We will be reading everything that's said in the past carefully. If you would like to suggest your idea then please post it in this thread. A lot of people are tense in here. We don't have to prove anything to each other. We are already friends (cue Disney ending).

4. I am magical.

Guys, I'm in need of some help.

My brother is a huge amiibo fanatic, and I'm trying my best to help him complete his collection. I've already gotten him Dark Pit and the Retro 3-Pack for his birthday (in November), but I know it's going to be hard come Christmas time.

I can most likely get my filthy mitts on a Mii Fighter 3-pack for him, but the ones he NEEDS are Jigglypuff, Pit and Palutena. Jigglypuff's around $14 on Amazon, which is manageable through negotiations with the family, but the two Kid Icarus amiibo are around $20 a piece. My problem is, I'm a junior in high school with no car or credit card, meaning my access is rather limited to the occasional road trip when my parents are available.

Does anyone know a way for me to be able to grab the last two for a decent price without the necessity of picking them up or having to invest in a credit card?

Its one of those "3spoopy5me" unwritten rules of Smash boards fam :p
Don't give false info mate.
What rules?
NEW RULES NEW RULES NEW RULES:
Even though this is a social group thread...the rules have been especially lax lately. In order to encourage healthy discussions, these are the new rules the moderators (@Firus , @ Swamp Sensei Swamp Sensei , @Frostwraith and myself) have come up with. If you have any questions about these rules, feel free to ask about them in this thread, or through private messaging. The rules are in effect from now. We may amend them again in the future if we feel that they aren't effective. Your feedback is important and will be taken into consideration. Most of these are actually site rules, but haven't been strictly enforced in the past. This is your final reminder.

1. Large images (Images that stretch a normal text post) must be put into spoiler tags.

2. In order to keep discussion going, and to prevent 'meme-posting',we are limiting the number of videos per page. Please limit 5 videos per page.

3. Images, videos, etc must be relevant to the topic at hand, or be a new topic that the user wants to introduce. Posts that are for "like-farming" are not permitted.

4. Listen to the mods. If a moderator tells you to stop, then stop. If you have an issue with what that moderator's decision, please PM that moderator. If you do not feel comfortable addressing that moderator directly, please bring the issue to Forum Support. Do not continue fighting in the thread. We will hand out infractions.

5. You must respect the person. You can disagree with their logic, but personal attacks are not tolerated. A minor trolling infraction will be given to first time offenders. Repeat offenders will be given additional infraction points.

6. Your post must be substantial. "Happy birthday" posts must have something related to the topic on hand. You may always post a 'happy birthday' message on the user's page, or PM without reservations.

7. No censor dodging! Posts that are censored by the user themselves are considered censor dodging. Images containing swear words are not allowed and will be removed.

Someone asked me why I ditched my Roger persona, on top of the negativity eating away at me from what happened to me on the other forum I was on?

It was because I felt I was contributing so much to arguments while in my I don't know Roger Smith garb. I never got into so many arguments until I was posting sassy gifs or started speaking up in such a way.

I don't recall any of what went down with me and other users ever happening under my Rosalina screenname.

And I don't know the arguments just kept going and they ruined the fun. And I'm partially responsible for that.

At first I thought posting a silly American Dad gif or video here or there? It'd just be something to bring some fun to the board, a laugh or two, but the more it went along, the more the arguments kept occurring, and it just got to the point where even getting tagged on Smash Boards was a game of ''Who did I piss off now?"

I got sick of it. It was toxic. It was ruining clearly not only my fun, but everyone else's too. And with toxicity already secretly hiding in my life getting flushed out recently, I decided to flush out anything else that might also be that way.

Swamp is right, btw. There are especially cases where certain members are given this vibe through our little community that they're the pack leaders or the stand outs, and that it makes us and them better than everyone else.

And from an outsider looking in perspective? Seeing that? Plus seeing everyone constantly strangling each other in arguments?

It's not a very welcoming nor fun enviroment.

And thus I conclude with something that oddly enough has caused arguments with others in the past in here:

BE NICE TO EVERYONE. WE'RE ALL NINTENDO NERDS. WE ALL DESERVE RESPECT NO MORE WHAT SECTION OF NINTENDO WE LOVE.
