Huh? I thought the IP lock was already gone? I guess there were still a lot more places affected by it lol

EDIT: oh wait, they meant the southeast asian version, not the japanese one

wow im dumb lol

Is Earthbound Beginnings/Mother a good game? or is it a watered down earthbound?
The game is alright, has a lot of annoyances here and there but it's pretty decent for a 1989 RPG.

I don't get the villain kick people have.

Bowser and Ganon/Ganondorf are the only truly ICONIC ones Nintendo has.

After that K. Rool and Ridley come closest and a lot of that is nostalgia on one's case recently.
I actually agree with this.

I'd say Mewtwo and King Dedede are also iconic, but they aren't quite villains as Bowser or Ganondorf are. Same thing for Meta Knight.

K. Rool lacks exposure to be on par with Bowser and Ganondorf. Not only the DKC series was dead for a while, Retro Studios' entries in the series have yet to feature him. Of course, he's still quite popular, but I'd say it's very much nostalgia driven.

And Ridley is, well, Ridley. Not even going to comment on this one since I'm sick of discussing this guy.

And we did get a new villain character this time around: Bowser Jr. Well, technically 8, counting the Koopalings. Of course, they aren't as iconic as the Koopa King himself, but they have a recurring presence in the Mario series.

Finally, there's Wolf, who appeared in Brawl. Many people, me included, would like to see him released as DLC.

Yeah, I didn't count Mewtwo, Dedede, or Meta Knight, because I view them like I view Wario. Anti-hero types.

This is a question I have been meaning to ask you guys.
So as we know Directs were kind of Iwata's thing. Now we know other Directs have had others doing them.
The most recent Smash Direct is proof of this as it was Sakurai who did it.
So this is my question. How do you think the next Smash DLC News/ Game news in general is going to be handled.

Regarding that PSO2 thing posted, it's referring to the official English translation for the south eastern asia territories.

And from what I've seen, the translation is awful and there's apparently balance issues.

I don't want Corrin for the sake of more FE. Characters, I want Corrin because it's a fantastic, successful, game to represent FE. It's an FE game that did way better than Awakening plus Corrin has some pretty cool abilities that can be used in Smash.

You DO realize that transforming with a dragonstone isn't very...Fitting in smash, right? Not to mention Corrin will likely only have his chance here, or else she'll be irrelevant by Smash 5

Corrin, Kamui.

Doesn't matter.

His/Her chances in Smash 4 are done and won't be considered ever until next game or do people want them to not hold their water and go all out like with the Inklings situation.

Remember, FE as for roster has nothing left to add an nothing left to bring in. FE Fates representatives aren't gonna get any until next game not now.

Thanks for the source, though I doubt we'd get another FE character

On one hand. it's got hooves. On the other hand, Goomy is a dragon
reminds me of the time on pokebeach where i said thundorus's therian form was based on a dragon and then someone else said and i quote
"but it dosent have wings!" to which i responded with this:

Everything from this post is fake. I got in contact with the OP and they admitted that they didn't understand Japanese/ made up information. See this post for more information.
So :4dedede: was never considered for Melee?

Well, it always sounded weird how Sakurai had him in such high priority for him to be on the roster in the Takamaru sense but even Sakubias wouldn't put him up there with :4bowser:&:4mewtwo: for villain representation.

Well, as of right now I don't have information on Dedede in Melee. He was probably considered. He was planned for Smash 64 (though he did get in in on the background of the Dream Land 64 stage). The only information that I've found pertaining to Dedede in Melee comes from that Neogaf post...so...unless another source pops up (which is always possible, I'm still researching/ looking into a variety of things) then no. Right now, we know 100% for sure that Wario would've been the next one in line for Melee, not Dedede.

It's not that Corrin wouldn't be an interesting character to have. There genuinely is a lot of stuff he/she could bring to the table.

It's just.......most of us would rather see a series with less representatives get a new character (or a cut character back) or a completely new series get represented.

Fire Emblem is a niche series that arguably has more characters than it warrants. We got four on the main roster and its cut character back as DLC. There's really no way to justify another Fire Emblem character being added. We have enough.

Save Corrin for the next game and save the remaining DLC for series that actually need it.

Fire Emblem has it's circle complete in this game, so to say. The originals from Melee, the newcomer from Brawl, and it's two newcomers from 3DS/U.

All five represent a pivotal era of the series. Marth and Roy represent the introduction of Fire Emblem to the West , Ike represents the series introduction to the then next generation of it's time(Gamecube and Wii), and Robin/Lucina represent the boost of popularity FE received with Awakening.

If you ask me, the series could do without anything else in Smash except maybe Mii costumes because it stands in a good position fundamentally.

Maybe a better stage but most of my stage request goes for

Mario Party Stage :4mario:
Magicant on Wii U :4ness:
New Metroid stage :4samus:
Bowser's Castle:4bowser:
A maybe a new :4link::4pikachu:or:4dk: stage

Actually, it represents almost every FE generation, Akanea, Jugdral, Elibe, Tellius and Awakening. Jugdral being the only exception

After both Marth and Ike being confirmed to return, after Robin and Lucina being revealed in one go and Roy being back as DLC, we've got plenty of FE characters from across the series' story.

I don't think we'll be getting another one. The series was already lucky to have 4 characters given Lucina's status as an alt-turned-clone, let alone 5.

This coming from a fan of the series and I honestly wouldn't mind if it had a 6th character.

If we're talking about FE sagas representation in Smash 4:
- Akaneia: Marth, music from FE1-3
- Jugdral: music from FE4-5
- Elibe: Roy, Lyn (AT), music from FE6-7
- Sacred Stones: music
- Tellius: Ike, music from FE9-10, trophies in the Wii U version
- Awakening: Robin, Lucina, Arena Ferox stage, music, trophies in the 3DS version
- Overall (based on recurring elements of the series): Castle Siege stage, Coliseum stage, Fire Emblem Theme, Anna trophy in the 3DS version

Only Jugdral and Sacred Stones have no character. Marth, Roy and Ike are the main protagonists of the first games of their respective sagas. Awakening gets two of the three protagonists (Robin and Lucina), with Chrom being part of Robin's Final Smash.

Of note is how FE characters have alt colors based on other characters from the series. Marth has a Roy recolor, Ike has recolors based on Greil, Black Knight and Chrom, Lucina has recolors based on all your waifus Nowi, Tiki, Tharja, Cordelia, Cherche, Lissa and Sumia, Roy has recolors based on Eliwood, Marcus, Zephiel and Cecilia.

Have I mentioned that I kinds miss the stickers from Brawl? Collecting them all was a chore, sure, but they could at least have put an art section since I liked the idea of having art works from the games represented in Smash.

Sacred Stones was part of Elibe though

Fire Emblem is just extremely lucky, honestly. It has nothing to do with representing anything. The series was only going to have 3, and would've been set with that.

Marth was the original and most popular, the Pikachu. Ike was added as a fully unique newcomer for the series in Brawl, and none of those got cut (disregarding legal and tech reasons). Robin was added because Awakening sold well, and he had a unique gimmick and could represent Fire Emblem well overall.

Lucina was only going to be the equivalent of Alph or Male Wii Fit Trainer. Roy only got in because he was next in line as a Melee rep once Mewtwo got in. If Dr. Mario hadn't made the base game, it's possible he could've been picked as well (I still think it would've been Roy, but who knows). He probably would not have gotten in as DLC if the set wasn't planned as Brawl, Melee and Newcomer.

That said, the series does have 5 now, and the only one who was even considered for a spot was Chrom and he has a fairly large in-game role that it wouldn't make sense and would be a lot of unnecessary work to cover. I doubt any FE character would've even been considered at all for DLC if they didn't do cut characters.

Nope. Different continent.

FE6-7 are in Elibe. FE8 is in Magvel with a completely different character cast and world.

They are all on GBA and have a similar engine and art style, though.
Pretty much. :4feroy: represents the GBA similar to:4robinm: representing the 3DS/Modern era.

as one of those Chrom fans who isn't salty.

Rude.
Only to the really salty ones, and I know of some.

I have no ill will towards his fanbase at all, just those select very few people who remain salty after a whole damn year.

I like the character myself.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'd enjoy a playable Chrom as DLC. I'd actually be pretty excited about it, but with Lucina already playable, who would match up with Robin in her Final Smash? They could pick a random character but then they'd also have to go find the original voice actors to do very small amounts of voice acting, have to create a new model for that character, rig and animate it since it couldn't be the same animations as Chrom unless they used a sword, I guess. All that in addition to creating a new character that Sakurai already thought wasn't unique enough to make the original roster.
