I don't see why people complain about the 3DS's hardware limitations; it's because of those that mid-match transformations are gone and the moment I learned that they were gone in the Smash Direct last year, it got me really excited for the game.

Because aside from the fact we lost Ice Climbers (which is a pretty big deal to me and one of my biggest complaints about the roster), I really don't like the idea of Smash having to have two versions on both a handheld and a console. Doing so I feel compromised both games (Smash Wii U's roster is paltry in comparison to what it should have been) and I would have much rather they put all their resource into one version (handheld or console, not BOTH). It's why I haven't gotten Smash 3DS yet. I seriously hope the next proper Smash game only appears on one handheld/console.

Rock Pikmin were planned but ultimately put on hold. It’s unknown if development had begun on these Pikmin, but they likely would have been added had there been more time. Rock Pikmin would have been heavy with short reach but high attack power.

I don't know what's worse.
Assist trophies being locked in the position that helped get them in the game before DLC. Looking at Takamaru who actually was considered but is now stuck as an assist.
Or Alph being stuck as an alt costume.
I would love to see Alph get the boot as an alt and return in his own slot with Rock Pikmin.

New type for Olimar. It's listed under Olimar's project details.
