It had to be some (dirty) lurker :p

On the bright side, reading page 28 reminded me of the Assault Plan.
Shout out to @Tr1pleDee
I remember operation 1338.
It's somewhere. Deep in the sections of the leaks group.
In a worse Limbo than Half Life 3.
But I always remember operation 1337, I got to team up with a mod in a jet. @ Swamp Sensei Swamp Sensei

Judging by the 2016 Wii U schedule of, uh, Delayed Zelda and Just Dance and nothing else, I think we might be seeing the NX sooner than some people seem to think.

The sooner we get an opportunity for a new Smash the better. :)
I'd think it would be an upgraded version of Smash 4. But since it's technically a new game...

I would totally be down for Mickey in Smash Bros tbh lol. I know I'll get hate for saying that. I'd PREFER others, but if he got in, I wouldn't be mad. He's such an iconic character, it would be pretty huge.

Nobody knows what the Wii U schedule is for 2016 so that's probably the surprising thing.
NX is happening in 2017 or 2018 which would be perfect.

I think they might port over some WiiU games to NX. Smash 4, Hyrule Warriors and Splatoon might be the biggest ones.

What's a witty tagline for Mickey?
I got one.
"Mickey Is More Iconic Than Every Character in This Game Combined!"
I know that's not actually true. :p

I mentioned how I think a potential SSB4 port for NX should go a month or two ago on the old topic in the Leaks group. I'll just re-iterate.

- All the DLC comes as part of the base game.
- Features at least some of the formerly 3DS exclusive stages.
- Smash Run is ported over and replaces the universally hated Smash Tour. Preferably with improvements (like the ability to choose the time limit and final battle).
- The Wii U version of Classic Mode is either scrapped or made into a separate mode, while the 3DS Classic is ported over and made the game's official Classic Mode (with 5-8 player Smash battles added as possible match types that come up, and the Master Fortress form added to the final battle).

So, if Mickey Mouse made it into Smash and had an amiibo, it could be a crossover between Disney Inifinity and Smash Bros.. That would mean Nintendo successfully combined with both other two competitors of NFC gaming accessories.

This is perfect. Classic Mode on Wii U is horrible.

So Skylanders is huge, but none of their actual characters are popular enough to ever be in Smash, right? Also, I don't think having Nintendo characters in their game makes it any more likely for them to put one in Smash. But that could be interesting.

Edit: Actually no, doesn't make any sense unless the skylanders figures also function as Amiibos.

That would be everyone's wet dream. Therefore it won't happen :D.

Would be kind of neat if they combined the games. It would be kind of like Kirby Super Star.

Hence why I said "How I think it should go down", rather than "How I think it would go down". It was a wants post, not a prediction post.

My actual prediction is that I don't think there will be a port, and if there is one, it'll just be the Wii U version with the DLC added to the base game.

Spyro comes the closest of any of them purely from having a background in his own games.

but its like pokemon where there are 100 of them so he doesnt shine very brightly.

Spyro's presence in Skylanders was basically just a selling point for the original game. New IPs are harder to sell, so they slipped a familiar face in to help get the ball rolling.

Notice how he no longer appears in Skylanders-related advertisements?

I'd be happy if Smash Tour was transformed into the Wii U Classic mode.
I would also like the 3 cut modes from Classic mode back.
Break the Targets.
Race to the Finish.
Board the Platforms.

leak claims another 3ds metroid is in development

stole a tldr from here
http://www.reddit.com/r/Metroid/comments/3aao9r/rumour_semiconfirmed_nlg_insider_leaks/
So tl;dr.

Person claiming to be insider (likely Brad Maxim, Level Designer for Next Level Games as he quickly pulled his Linkdin page minutes after being called out on 4chan) started leaking Federation Force information that lined up with what we later saw at Treehouse and heard in interviews today.

  • Game had Metroid Prime slapped on it at the last minute was named "Metroid: Federation Force".

  • Was thrown in the direct last minute as filler since they wanted Metroid anything in it.

  • Samus based 3DS game in development, uses similar Chibi style and this game acts as a sort of companion too it. (less chibi though)
  • Samus based Metroid Game is not being made first party, but second party developer.

  • Federation Force features different guns, some you choose at the start of missions, others you find through the battlefield. Shotgun, Heavy Machine Gun, Semi Auto.

  • Samus shows up several times in Federation Force but doesn't really have much bearing on anything.

  • Game has lockon system similar to Prime

  • Samus is taller than the Feds

  • Single player has bots take control of the other characters.

  • Game is far more expansive than the trailer shows, though it's a level based game and has very little exploration.

  • Mecha Ridley is in the game.

  • Blastball may be sold standalone as well on the Eshop

  • Missions are the worst part, Campaign is fun.

  • You can choose skills based on how you play to customize yourself. (Shield if you want to tank for example)

Whether or not he is still the focal point of the Skylanders series in its current state as he was initially, he's unquestionably a valid candidate for Smash due to his status a cultural icon. Nintendo's current relationship with Activision could easily open the door for him to make his Smash debut in the (near) future. And he'd still be a great cross promotional tool for both companies to utilize (advertising Skylanders to Smash fans, and vice-versa).

After all, he was a direct rival to Mario during the 64-bit era.

I really hate the idea that Nintendo's jumping ship instead of trying to support their console. Building another one doesn't seem like a good solution. The lack of Wii U titles during the Event hinted at this, but Reggie basically stated that it's a new home console rather than the 3rd pillar they pitched it as. The system has some killer titles and it's a shame Nintendo's dropping support so soon. I love Nintendo to death and I'll never buy another console besides something made buy the Japanese giant. I'll still buy the NX, but i can't help but say this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

You say that under the assumption that Activision and Nintendo have this long-term partnership planned out and that the presence of Bowser and Donkey Kong in Skylanders isn't already beneficial to both parties.

As I've said time and time again: not everything has to do with Smash. Nintendo characters making cameos in other developers games is something that's been going on for ages now. It does absolutely nothing for Spyro or any other Skylander's chances of being in Smash, because it has nothing to do with Smash.

Apparently Nintendo fans aren't the only ones who are angry.
Nintendo hasn’t had the greatest time with this year’s E3 presentation. While going into it fans were certainly hyped for the possibilities, after the presentation many felt that Nintendo had a lackluster show with game content that people aren’t too enthused about.

Whether you agree with that assessment or not, it seems investors are a bit wary of Nintendo as well. After the presentation and in the days following with the internet in an uproar over Metroid and more, Nintendo’s stock price declined significantly. You can see on Tuesday the stock rose, but on Wednesday after the presentation, it dropped off a cliff.

To contrast that, when Nintendo announced its mobile plans, their stock prices jumped up by 30% and continued to rise.
For every Yoshi that is destroyed, a kitten cries.

I would have liked the idea more if NX was a handheld. It's looking to be a Wii U successor at this point, despite Nintendo themselves saying it would not replace both Wii U and 3DS. Wii U still needs games; most big releases are coming next year, which is the same year they reveal NX. It needs to sell more. I can't see Nintendo take out Wii U support just like that... all of a sudden. That's like saying "screw this. Here you go."

The 3DS, however, is almost 5 years old (which is likely enough for a successor to happen), still getting games, selling well and the like. Though you could say that because it has things like Pokémon, which mean "instant money."

Releasing a home console and calling it a "third pillar" just... seems weird to me. I have always had the idea of releasing "third pillar" handhelds like the DS in 2004; now it's the opposite. Doesn't hurt to try I guess.

Now, I'm not against the idea—I am looking forward to seeing what can they do with NX, home console or handheld, whatever works best for them.

I won't stop until I get another handheld Smash though.

You're putting words in my mouth a bit there. I'm not assuming anything about their future plans but Nintendo and Activision clearly as of this minute have a good relationship. Good enough to collaborate on Activisions's meal ticket.

I don't think everything Nintendo does is Smash related, I don't even expect any more 3rd Party characters for this Smash. But as far as selecting any 3rd Party character goes right now, IF we were to get one, Spyro has to be a frontrunner. He ticks every box. Slick asked if any character from Skylanders was popular enough to be in Smash, I was answering.

Plausibility and likelyhood are two different things. I was completely speaking in a hypothetical sense, and treating Spyro as a plausible candidate with reasons to back up why he'd be plausible.

If NX is pitched as a console/handheld hybrid and that Nintendo will continue to focus on making games for all three systems, being 3DS, Wii U and NX, i'd feel MUCH better about it. And if they phase out both the 3DS and Wii U down the road and just have this super console, then sure, fine, i get it- console gaming in Japan is dead and it's mobile city, and in the States it's all about consoles still. It's a good way to get both countries on board.

I would honestly be happy to see the Wii U last until 2018. 3DS, who knows considering they're still pumping out games left and right, i'd like to see at least 2017. And if NX replaces the Wii U, it better be backwards compatible and have a good virtual console line-up right away.

The last time they said "third pillar", we got the DS, which replaced the GBA about a year and a half afterwards. If NX replaces the Wii U after a year and a half after it comes out, then i guess that'd lessen the blow, but meh. I'm still salty that the big N's jumping ship early.

Ontopic, NX besta be a hybrid. That'd be new.
