Thank God someone else says it. Since yesterday I've been telling people that it was not all that great, but everyone's too hyped over nothing. TLG is one of the most anticipated games of all time (in terms of new IP), yet that gameplay shown looked extremely poor. FF7 is coming first to PS4, not exclusive at all. Shenmue was a straight up cash in from Sony "Hey this is a game that we have nothing do with, but it's creator is bringing his game to our platform, so support him or it's not coming at all."
They have nothing this year aside from Uncharted( which was shown last year) TLG, FF World, Dreams, and Horizon. Microsoft had a lot more to show, and so did Nintendo.
Even with this being true, it's all about the packaging and understanding the internet. That's why even with Nintendo bringing us better stuff over the E3 WEEK, they'll "lose" E3 while Sony will "Win" it.
- Nintendo had 2 of it's biggest announcements leaked: Smash DLC and Hyrule Warriors 3DS.
- Smash's direct was on a Sunday opposed to Tuesday, which we now know that the Tuesday's direct could have used the announcement.
- Sony "debuts" 2 to 3games that fans have wanted for years. Even if they aren't directly tied to Sony.
- Nintendo fans expected Nintendo to give us something we truly wanted and we only got half of it: New Metroid game, but a spin-off. New Animal Crossing game but not the Wii U one.
- Nintendo fans also expected new DLC for current games and none were announced (Mario Kart 8 & Splatoon, announcement of Wolf returning to Smash Bros.)
- Most of Nintendo's announcements in their E3 were just more confirmation of things we already know are coming: Star Fox Wii U, Xenoblade X, Fire Emblem Fates, SMT x FE and Yoshi's Wooly World. Two of those are already OUT in Japan.
- Sony disguises their lack of 1st party games with shiny games people want (though none of them are even coming out anytime soon.
So even if you want to argue that Nintendo is bringing us MORE content then anyone else this E3... they did a horrible job of PRESENTING it, while Sony isn't bringing much and they presented it very well. Sony's PR wins E3. Not necessarily their content. On the internet it's all about the packaging. Did we forget that Earthbound Beginnings was announced Monday?
If Nintendo packed all of their stuff into one announcement... I think Nintendo would have won E3. But by spreading it out over the week, Sony takes the cake and wins E3. It's one of those "It's the Internet" scenarios where some topic/issues/games weigh more online then they actually do in their true worth.
