Well, after all of today's excitement, I must say, I'm feeling peckish. Yes, I'll take one large order of my words to go, please.
So, the day of reckoning finally came, and it turned out that I should not have doubted Sakurai's commitment to making his fans happy, as the impossible dream of our boy's glorious return to the fray finally came true. Of course, thanks to the seemingly careless clean-up job the creators of that last patch did, I had plenty of time to accept that I was wrong about Roy having no chance. Not that I am that upset about being wrong, anyway, as I'm happy that so many of my fellow fans got exactly what they've been hoping for for years! However, I held onto my firm belief that we would see the dawn of a DLC tile housing a list of all DLC fighters upon the arrival of these newest additions until the very end, and quite to my surprise it turned out that I was wrong about that, as well! Even looking at the screens with my own eyes, I am still rather dumbfounded as to why they have not implemented such a feature; I mean, both rosters are now a hot mess, and even worse the 3DS screen is now completely full! I certainly didn't think they would let things get this way, it seems like awfully sloppy design work to me. But, I guess I'll just assume that, at least for the 3DS version, we'll be seeing a DLC button on the roster when the
next new characters come.
On the bright side, Roy looks pretty decent (at least compared to his Melee incarnation), so I'll probably end up buying him eventually, just likely not very soon. That MegaMan.EXE costume, along with the Inkling, Akira, and Heihachi costumes were really cool, though, and were all easy day one purchases for me! Plus, I'm enjoying Ryu, he is quite a unique and fun character, I'm very happy with how he turned out, he definitely exceeded my expectations. Also, Nintendo announced that the two amiibo I've anticipated most of all since the very beginning, R.O.B. and Mr. Game & Watch, are coming in September and, best of all, are as great as I could have possibly hoped for! I was concerned that R.O.B. would only be available around the world in its Famicom colors and that I would have to re-paint it myself, and I was disappointed that the amiibo of my SSB main Mr. Game & Watch was going to have the same lame pose as his character portrait in these games (the same way my favorite Mario character, Luigi, was). But lo and behold, it seems Nintendo heard my worried cries and answered them, as if to say "Don't you worry, dear little Deoxys, Uncle Nintendo won't let anything bad happen to your precious amiibo you've been so looking forward to. Well, other than probably making one of them a GameStop exclusive, but you know, money."
Overall, I'd say today brought a good number of exciting and enjoyable announcements and treats. Though I don't really look for their to be anymore Smash news on Tuesday, there's still the prospect of main series Pokémon news and the announcement of things I didn't see coming but will be very much interested in, so I'm still pretty excited for and looking forward to the start of E3. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get to eating my past words about Roy before they get cold.
