To be fair, we said that when the game first came out and four was the magic number.

Only reason I'm more incline to believe this is because of @shinyquagsire23 discovery of two more slots after Ryu, Roy and Lucas.

calling it now wolf will be revealed to be coming out in august
then(in august) they reveal a second "megaton" character ala ryu and then sakurai will state the ballot will be ending in 2 months and we will see the characters (plural) that will be added to dlc at a later date
come november sakurai will reveal the characters (minimum 4 maximum 6)
this is all a crazy theory but man it would be sweet

I'm thinking possibly Wolf in August.

Then one more character in October, and then development moves on for Super Smash Bros for NX full time.

I personally don't think there will be.

I think it will just be focused more so on new games and other announcements such as Splatoon DLC, possible Mario Kart 8 DLC, Indie games, etc.

I'm thinking possibly Wolf in August.

Then one more character in October, and then development moves on for Super Smash Bros for NX full time.

I honestly doubt that they will stop developing characters for this version when the craziness that was buying these most recent ones from the eShop happened. It's been 7-8 months since release already, and the hype is still that big. They'll keep it going for a while. There's no way we're only getting 5 characters, especially when the ballot exists. They're also making amiibo of each character they make which essentially prints money, too. The DLC is already a fairly premium rate.

Also, didn't they confirm the NX is its own thing? As in, not a competitor to their main console/handheld/both if their follow up combines them as expected.

The character select screen is kind of an abomination now.

In like 2 years from now they'll announce Super Smash Bros for Wii U GOTY edition with all the DLC and a better layout. Actually, it'll be ultimate edition, contain like 2 more characters, and we'll still buy it.

I believe the series order is correct. I would personally fix the intra-series order, but that's not that big of a deal as they seem somewhat random in the actual game. (Put Roy before Ike, Mewtwo and Jigglypuff after Charizard, etc).

Yeah, that's why I was saying there might eventually be a Smash for it. Reggie said Smash and Mario Kart are games that get released once per console's lifecycle. The Smash for NX would probably be the next "version" of Smash (Maybe Smash 6?).

The most exciting thing for me out of this update was Charizard's vastly improved up throw; now it's a legit kill throw that can kill Mario on FD at 125% before rage (which means it's even stronger than Mewtwo's up throw). Then you throw in its ability to land on platforms above and Charizard's great survivability to achieve high amounts of rage...it may surpass Ness' back throw for scariest kill throw in the game.

With down throw also being repurposed into a decent combo throw, and Dragon Rush to combo off of it and back throw, Charizard's grab game is so beastly now.

Thanks, yeah, I wasn't really sure where to put those so I just put them at the end of their respective series. I would have probably put them in the order of their Smash debut though. ^^

Also, speaking about how the names font/location seems to have changed a little. I wonder if there might come a point where they will do like the 3DS version and remove them entirely. In order to make more space for a fifth row or something....

As it turns out the ballot was fake too. Mewtwo was our last DLC character. Mewtwo's fake too, actually.

I love having all those icons there sure, but man having Ryu separate from the 3rd Parties, and Fire Emblem characters scattered here, there and everywhere just looks gross.

Due to the nature of the way they've implemented the DLC, like the only way the characters are there is if you buy them (rather than having them there but unselectable ala Mario Kart), I can't see a suitable fix where everyone is where they should be.

Likewise, I think we could plausibly see 2 more packs of 3. Now that Roy has been decloned to quite a significant degree, I can plausibly see similarly for Young Link and Pichu. Everyone else was already unique. That would bring the total up to 10 which is a pretty good number all around.

Something like:

Q4:
Vet 1 (Wolf)
Vet 2 (Ivysaur)
Newcomer (Ballot 1)

Q2 2016:
Vet 1 (Pichu or YL, or possibly Icies)
Vet 2 (Squirtle)
Newcomer (Ballot 2)

Just because the ballot doesn't finish until October, doesn't mean they couldn't have taken preliminary results into consideration when deciding on newcomers after Ryu.

We pretty much only know for now that ZSS/Palutena/Dark Pit/Ganondorf are out with Woolly World on June 26th, and Doc/BJ/Olimar are out around mid July.

That I know, and got all those pre-ordered since forever luckily. ^^ But even in Europe, we have to be fast, and when they all show up in the places I buy from, I'd rather do it fast so I don't have to worry about them, haha. But I guess none actually know for sure yet. Shame. Thanks anyways, though!

Quick thoughts on the DLC characters:
Lucas is just amazing, he's everything I love about Ness and more, his d-throw combos into all of his aerials and it's so satisfying to land a Meteor Smash
Roy is to Marth what Ganon is to Falcon, a bunch of moves received different animations and some are just plain unique, his FS is called Critical Hit but works differently, though it's not a OHKO
Ryu is Ryu, it just feels right, the sound effects, his combos, even the inputs are there. Oh yeah and two Final Smashes

I'm not too sure but I don't think Windy Hill Zone was 8-player compatible.
Also, I believe Wii Fit Studio was 5-6 players only.
Suzaku is compatible with 8 players fyi.
Gonna check Omega forms and 5-6 players stages now
