imo Fire Emblem does at least make sense sometimes by having the characters have personalities that fit the fanservicey designs or Tharja having an outfit that would protect her from the desert's heat

Yeah, sometimes it does fit, Camilla and Charlotte definitely fit their designs, but not everyone, and we have a very recent example actually, Kagero. As much as I like her, her design does not fit in any form or shape her personality, and it's there just for fanservice.

I was thinking about that idea but I can imagine it being hard to track your Pyra/Mythra in an 8 plyer Smash (assuming that comes back.)

Maybe if the alternate color that Pyra/Mythra have are enough "flashy" or different from one to another (unlike say, or ), I don't think it be a problem on medium/big stages.

Small stages is where the problem would be imo.

All I'll say is, even disregarding the blatant fanservice, her design is just... Bad. Like, there isn't much for her to stand out and all the details on her outfit make it a mess and bot pleasent to look at.
The same goes for Rex with a bad color palette and his stupid pants.

But, like, I know that's not the case for the whole game because I've seen Morag and I really like her design because it hits all the right notes. Same goes for other characters I've seen being mentioned here like Zeke.
So, for whatever reason, the two main characters have the worst designs out of all characters in the game.

Friggin bless Morag, having her as a party member helped remind me these are actual human beings I was playing with. Well, humans and... Blade Humans. I do genuinely like some other character and blade designs as well.

So yeah, like you said, the two main characters really do have the worst of it (mostly), which I can understand being a detractor for a lot of people. But I also feel like it shouldn't get in the way of people's enjoyment as much as some people let it, it's something you adjust to after while and you sorta just become... numb to it. But that's just me.

Xenoblade 2's plethora of guest artists ultimately hurt the game more than helped it, honestly, in the west anyway. Only so many different ingredients you can throw into a melting pot before you lose the flavor you were trying to go for because of so many different elements mixing together. Not to mention, again, the "preference" a lot of the artists had with some designs.

I think that the game art lack of direction is mostly due to the fact that only 40 peoples worked on this game on a deadline on their hands. Which mean that they had to outsource alot for the characters design (and other various aspect of the game).

I mean, giving the design of one of your main character to a hentai artist isn't exactly the best of choice. But then again, we have great design like Morag, Zeke and Nia and many others thanks to different artists point of view. And even when it come ot fanservice, some character manages to do a better job than Pyra in that aspect, like Zenobia or Brighid.

In any case, Rex/Pyra getting in won't bother me, but I tell you that, if Malos or Zeke get in. You won't see me complain at all, especially because I like alot of characters more than Pyra/Rex,(

time anyone? No? Anyone?), even if I still like them personality wise.

God, I really hope this doesn't happen in the Showcase, look when it comes to indie reps in Smash, I just don't care, but I do not want a Indie rep reveal in the Showcase, because it will take away from what the Nindie Showcase is supposed to be. You know something to show off Indie games.

It always surprises me when people say they can't come up with a moveset for Waluigi. Personally, I think he is one of the easiest to make one for.

The Mario Sports/Kart/Party series is the highest selling franchise that isn't represented in the roster at all. Having Waluigi use different sports equipment, Mario Party elements, and even maybe use Mario Kart elements would be perfect for a wacky character like Waluigi.

Funnily enough, just one of those series gives Waluigi an interesting and fun moveset potential. For me I want Waluigi to have Mario Party moveset based around the Party series, cause Waluigi is a massive troll, and Mario Party is infamous about people trolling their friends.

Newt is great, but wow, I... REALLY never noticed how literally bare she is until you mentioned that. She was in my party for a good while too... I guess the massive arms helped distract me a bit, haha.

I like Kasandra a lot myself. Though she's pretty tame design wise.

Honestly I still think that if we do get an UT character, Frisk would get in first. Its rare for an NPC to be playable before the main character of their home game.

Which I wouldn't mind, considering Frisk has a lot of interesting options as well.

Finally managed to get a Switch yesterday, and even got Splatoon 2 and Odyssey with it (though I really lucked out there, as if it weren't for the Nintendo Gold Points thing, I would have only gotten Splatoon 2). I didn't think it'd be this soon, but hey, I ain't complaining either.

Poor Valentia's going to be put on hold for even longer, and I don't even think I'll get to Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. at this point.

Just curious, how do you feel about the design of the antagonists? Mainly, Malos, Jin, Akhos, Patroka & Mikhail? In term of design, I say that, none of them are overly design to the point of being ridiculous, though, beside Malos, it's very clear that Nomura designed them, but what do you think? Undertale in Smash? I simultaneously doubt it'll happen and would love to be wrong. I'd prefer Papyrus, Undyne, or Mettaton over Sans, but Sans could be neat too. Plus the music he'd bring would be to die for.

Cave Story is a great game, but it really hasn't been relevant for years. It certainly helped to shape all the indie games we see today, but Nicalis has been doing nothing but ports with it.
Honestly, if we do see an indie character(which I doubt), it's going to be Shovel Knight.

Real talk, Vess Japanese voice is the reason why I play this game in english. Like, holy ****, what did they think were they doing with her voice?

Thank god her English voice is like, 1000x better, and sound like a voice that would actually fit the character.
