The Inkling stood at the end of the hallway, stretching her stiffened arms and legs into as intimidating a posture as someone her height could manage and twisting her grimace of nervousness into a rather unconvincing slasher smile. She was visibly quivering in fear, but in her current posture she could at least play it off as shaking from an overload of raw power, right? All the crazy things running around right now, they had no idea what she could be capable of. She could do anything, be anything, and they'd have no way of knowing. Heheheh. . .time to turn the tables on these suckers, then.
"HAHAHAHAH! You think you've got me backed into a corner here, don't you?! You haven't even seen my TRUE form!
GRR...RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-"
As she twisted one hand into a skyward clawing motion, the other rather conspicuously dropped a Splat Bomb onto the floor for a split second before immediately rushing up to match it. Her pursuers recoiled backwards slightly. . .more out of confusion and the sheer volume of the screaming than anything, but it did happen. With that in mind, the noise was just enough distraction to take attention off of the bomb, which proceeded to explode harmlessly but even more loudly amidst the rest of it.
The small crowd actually did lose eye contact with her for a moment, her attempt at escape being timed precisely at the explosion of the bomb. Unfortunately she hadn't quite thought through how far she'd need to move to make a clean getaway, and her badly calculated attempt at a ninja escape managed to lose it's element of surprise right about when she reached the outside of the air duct she'd made a break for. Her "true form" revealed itself to be slinking rather pathetically over the last stretch, an expression of rapidly increasing embarrassment spread across her eyes as the room went silent.
"Is that. . .a squid?" Said one person quietly.
No longer bothering to hide her panic, she wriggled over the last stretch and hauled herself up and into the duct, her body flowing between the holes in the grate in an inky mass. Loud thumping and muffled blast sounds could be heard from outside as she desperately hauled herself up and through the ventilation system. All the while no one particularly made any move to stop her. Each and every person just stood in shock, trying to register what on earth even just happened. This went on for some time, the thumping sounds far more distant by the time anyone dared to speak up.
". . .I think it just escaped." Someone muttered.
