I'm going to be honest....I miss Brawl.

No, I'm not talking about the competitive side of Brawl. The competitive side of Brawl left me bewildered, and is still a marvel in itself today...and not always in a good way.

But as far as just playing Brawl for fun...playing Brawl casually was ingrained into my childhood, and every second of it was wonderful. Since Brawl has a lot of little quirks that add up into one big pile of jank, playing such a game while also adding on all the jankiness from items...it turns casual play in Brawl into a masterpiece, at least compared to the other Smash Bros. games for me. Even with the lack of combos and the poor character balance...casual Brawl always kept me entertained in one way or another, and it's part of the reason why I'm a Smash Bros. fan and player to this day.

Just felt like reminiscing lol
This man speaks the truth. Brawl is hands-down the best game for casual Smash play. Smash 4 (and now Ultimate) has it beat in roster and Melee is better for serious play, but Brawl's casual and single-player are the best in the series.
On the other side of the coin, Smash 4 in hindsight kinda just feels... lifeless? I still love it, but it's lacking in a lot of areas, and unlike every other Smash game I see very few people ever going back to it since Ultimate appears to be doing everything it did but better.
Also Melee with only Pokeballs on high is hilarious and nothing in Smash will ever top it
Palkia shows up on Spear Pillar messes with the controls, Then you get a Master Ball with another Palkia doing the same. It'll be a fun time.
Wouldn't that just make it normal again? :4iggy:

It normalizes the effects done by Palkia #1 and then since Pakia #2's effects last for a shorter amount of time it reverts back to Palkia #1's wonky world of controls before it changes back to normal. again. or something.

I hope Yoshimitsu takes these SC6 matches to the end. He's my boy. Though Kilik would be cool too.

Yeah dude. Brawl is really nostalgic to me because I was a pre-teen when I first played it and I vividly remember the days when my friend printed out fake rosters from Google Images and we would debate whether or not the rosters were real lol.

And personally, I think Brawl had the best single-player experience of any Smash game. So much hours I could put in that game VS Smash Wii U.

I felt like Smash 4 had plenty of potential between being the mediator between casual Brawl and competitive Melee. But...they stopped releasing balance patches, and the meta suffered greatly for it. I do like the different modes and items available for casual play, but with competitive play....it really fell off once the meta became centralized around Bayonetta and Cloud (especially Bayonetta). Even in Melee where Fox is the best character theoretically, it's not like Fox mains are winning tournaments constantly. The two best Melee players in the world are Jigglypuff and Peach mains, and Marth, Sheik, and other characters still get ample spotlight at the top level. While the meta is still unbalanced in Melee, it's certainly better off than Smash 4's meta.

I think for a while, Smash 4 was the perfect balance between casual play from Brawl and competitive play from Melee...but in the present day, such a balance doesn't really exist. It's tragic...I still love Smash 4, but Melee has once again become my favorite Smash Bros. game.

Well actually now that I think about it, if Palkia #2 outlived Palkia #1, then when Palkia #1 is supposed to have its effect become normal again, it instead undoes Palkia #2's own effect and makes it wonky wacky world until Palkia #2's effect dies out.

Jeez, imagine if you could select what Pokemon you could summon too. It'd be hell.

I understand. :p
Brawl was the game that got me into Smash Bros.
I remember getting excited for fighting Rayquaza.

Good memories man. ;-;

Speaking of which, I got my avi's ready for whatever scenario happens.

If confirmation...

If deconfirmation...

If other non-playable role/ambiguous situation...

Where's the "Sami gets revealed" face

Speaking of Brawl, I remember when I first played Brawl and thought Mario was a semi-viable mid-tier character and not as bad as everyone was making him out to be.

Then I got smart and demoted Mario to an alternate main and I started playing Falco more. Thank God for Smash 4 Mario :4mario:

That third face looks like you just walked in on some ****ed up ****.
Or it's Andy realizing his series has been dead for a decade lol.
Where's the "Sami gets revealed" face
Literally the 2nd option lol.

Yeah not a fan of Sami as you can tell. Well unless she was a Snake semi-clone added alongside Andy.

I used to have a secondary Mario in Smash 4, but that was replaced with Dr. Mario.
Funnily, Mario is fun to play in Brawl for some reason.

Surely you jest
Well I mean I like the character but I dread the thought of her getting in to Smash over Andy.

Because I hate the idea of Wars being represented by a non-main character aside from my bias for Andy.

I still enjoy playing Mario in Brawl from time to time because he's one of the "meme" characters in Brawl. He's just weak all-around, so when you do win a match somehow and/or randomly it's incredible. Also, Brawl Mario's back air was SICK.

All of the Brawl characters have a lot of weird quirks in their movesets. Like most of them are bad objectively but still pretty fun lol.

I know, right?

Smash 4 Dr. Mario's back air is amazing as well.
I don't have a lot of nice things to say about Smash 4, and I prefer Brawl...
I know Smash 4 did some controversial stuff, but I loved Smash 4.
Smash 4 did a lot better things than bad things for me.

Do not @ me, but Smash 4 is better than Brawl, Melee and 64.

I don't have good memories of that game considering the bull**** my boi went through and the impression people have of him to this day. At least with Brawl he was consistent in his placement

I remember when I didn't want Meta Knight for SSB4 because of how OP he was in Brawl and literally that was it. I think the post of me saying that still exists somewhere. I kinda wished the same for Bayonetta but oops I guess "Everyone is Here" TM.

Back then, Yoshi was 15th in the first Smash 4 SmashBoards tier list.
The first tier list was so bad lol.
Thank goodness we got updated ones.

Didn’t people think he was high-tier at launch?
One of the biggest problems with his impressions from Smashers today. He was THOUGHT to be high-tier, but the results never showed it. It's because he's seen as annoying to fight even to this day (other characters in his tier, Duck Hunt, Pit, Shulk are not viewed that way), but without the tournament presence to take advantage of it...

A bonus for you is that Yoshi seems buffed in Ultimate.
I am not saying he is a top tier meta game breaker, but the ability to gimp easier plus Yoshi's eggs bouncing helps Yoshi a lot.

The worst part about the 1st tier list was that it came out a few days before Corrin and Bayonetta.
I was one of those people who thought the tier list was way too early.

Also LOOOL. I remember when ZeRo thought Roy was going to be top tier when he came out.

Honestly, I have been beginning to like Mythra a lot more than Pyra.

I am liking Pyra less.

Pyra just looks like a lame plastic toy that has a very bad design, while Mythra has STYLE.
I wanted to believe dude. Especially after Melee.
You are one of those "ROY IS OUR BOY" types, are not you?

I mean, they both look pretty plastic-y. It's sort of the artstyle of the game. Not that every anime-ish game looks bad.

Veggie Burger update...

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/234547-super-smash-bros-ultimate/76868944/906238487

Apparently not only will Decidueye not be in the game but also not Lyncanroc (did I spell that right lol) nor Mimikyu (gosh i'm bad at this).

So it's either the fire or water starter in this game. Unless it was a legendary instead?

Verg says that a Sun & Moon Pokemon is happening in this game just for anyone that doesn't know what i'm talking about. He outlined the above 3 characters as not being the ones for this game.

Of course it doesn't have to mean that he's right.

Of course. I was really rooting for him to return in Smash 4 and was really happy to see him return as DLC.

Going off that leak, my personal bias hopes for Primarina just because of my bias for it being my favorite of all the Alola starters, but Incineroar seems much more likely because of all the promotion it's been getting recently.

If it's not either starter, the only other plausible options I can think of is Tapu Koko, the Island Guardian/legendary that's been promoted the most.
