You're acting like the Master Ball is an absolute necessity when it's optional. Though iirc FRLG could trade with RSE so getting a Sableye to FRLG would be similar yet hilarious

The person psycho is referring to wanted a challenge, which likely indicated they didn't use the Master Ball option. My point is that the Master Ball is optional so catching Mewtwo in Let's Go won't have you use your team to fight him like usual, which can be disappointing for what was essentially the final challenge

Did I learn my lesson? Nope, I did the same with Groudon in Ruby and had to spend a whole day trying to catch Rayquaza with a Lv. 60 party with awful movesets.

My first Master Ball is for Skarmory and Skarmory only. Nobody gives me more trouble than it. Though at least Sun/Moon finally gave me a reason to use it on something else since Gen 1, heh.

I can't remember using my master ball outside of roaming legendaries but I do remember catching Rayquaza in a dive ball once. I find it more fun (and amusing) to catch legendaries in unconventional poke balls or just the standard poke balls. I wiped that Rayquaza save years ago though it wasn't as bad as the time I erased a shiny Herdier from my White save file.

I used my Masterball on a Pidgeotto, but by that point I had already gone through all the legendaries in the game and was just completing the rest of the pokedex.

I SHOULD have waited until I learned about Missingno, but eh.

My Blastoise also only knew Hydro Pump, Surf, Ice Beam and Skull Bash, my Dragonite Knew Blizzard, Thunder, Fire Blast, and Hyper Beam, my Gengar was extremely gimmicky focusing on Hypnosis and Dream Eater (With Nightshade and Toxic or Psychic?), I had no dedicated 6th party member, even when fighting other people and usually just had an HM slave, mostly Farfetch'd, Zapdos had Thunder, Fly, Thunder Wave, and Drill Peck, and I'm pretty sure Alakazam had Confusion, Psychic, Recover and Substitute

I remember it took me until I was 13 or so to get a real grasp on team balance. Up through Sapphire, I usually relied on about three team members and the others just kinda dragged along behind.

Actually, in Sapphire it was four: a Swampert, Ludicolo, Swellow, and Kyogre.

...Yeah. Compare to my endgame Alpha Sapphire team: Sceptile, Skarmory, Camerupt, Medicham, Walrein, and the obligatory Absol.

At least by OG Sapphire I had enough of an understanding of type coverage that I tried not to double up on STAB on any given mon, but still...

Interesting to note some of these ideas were later placed into DP. Early Leafeon, early Mime Jr, Lickitung evolution, Tangela evolution... And also some of the maps look alike. This one for example, it's pretty much Canalave City:

And some of those beta designs are great. The Fire starter is better than what we got in the final product, beta Noctowl, beta Girafarig...

Outside of that I only used it on roaming legends and a shiny Zorua in ORAS.
