Rudolph himself is quite the philosopher. When Berkut begs him to partake in the battle, Rudolph dismisses him and says this:
As for the battle itself, let me begin by saying Rudolf's battle theme is absolutely amazing!
I had chills throughout the entire battle because of that theme. That opera in the background sounds so grand and fitting for an emperor that is about to lose his kingdom to a Zofian army led by his son.
And I gotta say, the battle itself was very enjoyable as well. I chose not to cheese the map by warping Alm to Rudolph and finishing him off from there and instead went the longer route. Archer!Tobin and Python KO'd the Arcanist and the Bow Knights on Rudolph's side. When the Gold Knights and Bow Knights started charging toward my units' locations, I had Invoke units charge at them to buy some time. Admittedly, I should've KO'd the Bow Knights on the left side first because that would've made the battle a lot easier, but I did not know the Bow Knights on Rudolph's side never charge.
When the Gold Knights and Bow Knights arrived when most of my Invoke units died, I had Lukas and Forsyth stand at the center of the two walls and take all of the hits from the Gold Knights. I knew I couldn't rush through the map easily because there were two Gold Knights with Ridersbane, so throwing Mathilda, Clive, and Zeke right away was out of the question. Lukas and Forsyth took every hit like a boss, and I even landed some kills on some distant yet not-too-far Gold Knights with Mage Ring! Delthea. Then I used Rescue on Delthea to put her away from the Bow Knights' range so that only Lukas and Forsyth would land some kills. Once the Ridersbane!Gold Knights were gone, that's when all my units charged forward and landed the kills on the other Bow Knights. I even managed to catch up with the escaping Javelin!Gold Knight before it could reach Rudolph's wall to heal at the supplies box. I also managed to snag a kill on the other Arcanist with Python then had Faye use Rescue on him so that he wouldn't be slaughtered by the Javelin!Barons. From there, all of my units charged forward toward Rudolph and his Barons. Tatiana's Invoke Units baited some of the Barons, and then Rudolph charged forward. Lukas took the hit well, and both him and Forsyth lowered his HP. Alm then attacked, and Delthea landed the final blow.
The battle ended, and in Rudolph's final moments, he reveals that Alm is his son. There was plenty of foreshadowing to this twist, so it wasn't surprising. Still, this was a very powerful scene. The voice acting really delivered when Rudolph gave his last words followed with Alm's grief. And I gotta say, I really felt bad for Alm during the scene. The poor kid found out he killed his own father, who he never imagined being related to at all. I felt for him when he cried, followed with the scene when he talks to Mycen in the castle. Alm is on the verge of crying as he questions why Mycen would hide such information for so long, and it's pretty understandable why he'd be so upset.
