Arin went back on liking Mania actually a little into the Game Grumps playthrough.
I'm pretty sure he just shilled it at first because he had friends who worked on the opening animation.
Also please don't say "they need to stop focusing on story and spectacle". Not only do different people work on the level design as opposed to the story, but Forces is the first game to even try to have a good story in a while, and a lot of people wanted that. Force's level design is a bit of a step down from Generations mainly because they hired a new team of level designers. People have already compared the credits of the various games to confirm this.
Idk, I don't get why people are being so controversial about the game. Seems like everyone is looking for something to affirm their confirmation bias at this point. "Don't listen to Famitsu, they're always positive! Instead, listen to this poorly written Polygon review, because we all know they are the
shining beacon of journalism!".
Just buy the game if you have an interest, and pass it if you don't, it isn't that hard. The game isn't a train wreck. It's solid and polished, it just has a few questionable design decisions. It's still fun at the end of the day.
The replay value is subjective, it all depends on a person's interest in the unlockables. However, if we talk sheer volume of stuff to find and unlock, Forces objectively has way more to unlock.
