...the Fire Emblem itself has a lot of names. In the Archanea saga it's the Shield of Seals, while the Fates version is the Seal of Flames. Considering those are the sources for all but Lyn in the game as far as universes are concerned, it makes sense to call this one the Shield of Flames.

Talk about getting worked up about nothing for the sake of it.

So Jakob 1 would be if I played as a girl? Because if so, I never reclassed that Jakob at all. That man was the best dang butler I ever had. His sons are a different story

Yeah I tried the reclassing Jakob to a Paladin thing and it didn't work out because I was Male Corrin.

I also tried Samurai Odin but he also couldn't keep up.

I still had just enough Heart Seals for things they were useful for though. Mainly Wyvern Lord Camilla after she learned Trample at Lv. 15, and making Elise a Maid for her promotion, learning Live to Serve at Lv. 5, then making her a Strategist.

Also...

I have mention this a lot that anime/cartoon styles tend to be better on portraying expressions, also they tend to age well. And I was never a huge fan of Xenoblade's previous style, but that doesn't stop me from playing the game.
I know some of you will still dislike anime style or even just Saitou's anime style to be specific and it's fine, but skipping Xenoblade Chronicles 2 just because you dislike it's new style then ... that's very a shame.

So let me get this straight, Dave thinks Nintendo Switch having 3 third party games in November and he thinks LA Noire might be in a bad shape... what?
Sure people are start to joke/argue that Nintendo Switch is having too many games... but now he thinks people won't get LA Noire when there's many other games coming this November is yet to be confirmed...
Even though yeah I didn't preorder LA Noire and probably never will since I'm only interested in DOOM for now, but you should also aware Dave that most people don't really buy games at launch unless you are a huge fan of the game.

I have no idea what "the Jagen" is, but I have no interest in playing the older games due to their difficulty (I'd rather not permanently lose out on interesting characters or have to constantly reset my game because random archer #5 gets a lucky critical hit), and I don't have a consistent strategy as far as pairings go. (usually, I try to go with people who mesh well gameplay-wise, or what the story seems to be leaning towards)

That's basically the point, with Farfetch'd being a good comparison. They exist mainly to make the early game a bit more manageable.

4-Stars only really surpass unmerged 5-Stars around +10 merge. And even then, they have limitations on Skill Inheritance.

Swift Sparrow is nice if you want to avoid Life and Death's -Def & Res negative, although remember Swift only activates when you initiate the attack. At the same time, Swift Sparrow is one of those rare moves, compared to Darting Blow which Tharja, Rebecca and Florina can give at 4* whereas Swift Sparrow is only from Brave Lyn and Katarina. So it really comes down if you think it'll be worth it in the long run for Nino.

I'd say go with Fury 3 if you can actually.

Nino shouldn't really be trading blows. If you feel paranoid about the HP loss, just have someone else with Reciprocal Aid heal her. Fury is always good if you don't have things like Swift Sparrow or are unsure of which stat to focus on.

If your Nino is already in the 40 Spd range, at least after buffs, then she shouldn't have doubling problems. Most of the fastest characters are in the 40+ range. So I wouldn't worry too much about it if your Nino is there.

Does your Nino get any Spd buffs from party members though? Both Hones/Rallies and Spurs, or Axezura buffs since I remember you mentioned her?

I assume your Nino would have 41 Spd after you get her +Spd seal to Level 3. With that in mind, if she were getting a Hone Spd buff, that brings her to 45 Spd. With a Spur Spd, that brings her to 49 effective Spd during combat.

I already think that's more than enough Spd, but Fury 3 would bring that to 52 effective Spd.

For comparison, my unmerged Brave Lyn would only hit 43 Spd with the Swift Sparrow modifier (which only works on BLyn's turn), so your Nino would double her if you did the above. Even if my Brave Lyn was benefiting from a Hone/Rally Spd buff, that would bring her Spd on her turn to 47 Spd, where you still just about double my Lyn, even on her turn.

So yeah I don't think it's necessary to go for Swift Sparrow if you are pressed for resources. Fury also has the advantage of being a flat stat boost with no strings attached. Swift Sparrow would only work on your turn and it's only a 1 Spd difference.

Both are great options, I just want you to know that even with just the buffs from allies (I assume you buff your Nino's Spd, considering how she relies on buffs from allies anyway), your Nino should be capable of doubling the majority of the cast already.

The 5*. Merged 4* characters don't reach parity with 5* until +5.

Edit: ofc if the character isn't available as 5* it might be better to not promote in case you manage to get more of them to merge.

I don't know if that's how I'd characterize Jagens. In my experience new players tend to avoid prepromotes like the plague because they don't look much past a characters growths, while experienced players tend to value bases more.

I'm gonna have to disagree, from a personal expirience at least.
I didn't even know growths were a thing when I first played Awakening, and I was too dumb to check them; It was basically Frederick Emblem until I reset my file because I realized how much I ****ed up with the EXP distribution.

I suppose it's a matter of personal experience then. Of course when you're first playing you won't know about them, but from my experience once players learn about them, it takes a while for people to look past them. Really experienced players like LTCers tend to value bases more than growths. And that's even ignoring people who get in to 0% growth runs.

Edit: Also, even ignoring knowledge about growths, a lot of the games will discourage players from using Jagens. Heck, FE3/12 practically straight up tells the player not to use Arran.

Yeah, I remember basically neglecting Frederick because he was so much more powerful than everyone else and anyone playing an RPG focuses on training the weak characters first. By the time eveyone had promoted, he was incredibly weak so I just left him benched when I could.
New players are more likely to rely on the Jagen but that's exactly the point.

Speaking of Jagens, I'm playing SS Hard Mode

I'm trying to make a team with one user for each Sacred Twin this time, but, well, that means either grinding either Knoll or Ewan so lol

I've steadily been building up my orbs, but it's been so long since I've summoned that my will broke and now I'm about 80~ orbs down the drain with 28 left. Oh please upcoming Tempest Trials, heal my wounds! Hope I don't regret this, I've been aiming to fatten up for holiday Tharja and anything Fates/Awakening/SoV that comes before then.

I blame Arvis and Deirdre. Haven't played Holy War but I managed to get all three Arvis units from the GHB with Brave Roy, Brave Lyn, Axezura, and Ursula. He looks so cool and he has two ploys in his weapon and it'd be perfect with a Speed Ploy... which is only on Deirdre.

Was hoping to get lucky and not get punished for trying but I swear I went through nearly 10 sessions without seeing a single damn green orb, not even more than one red for a Sigurd. Top it all off my percentage was reset by my first Merric 5*... As soon as I got Deirdre I backed out, but I wish I had gotten two... Haven't yet decided if I can really sacrifice her in the name of making Arvis the Emperor of Ploys...

And I heard they don't give daily orbs anymore? Is it a lot harder to get orbs?

Nah we actually get even more daily orbs. We’ve been getting a better supply when compared to the beginning for sure.

They've actually been very friendly on the Daily Orbs lately and I think we've been getting more than usual. Like I think in September, they gave 1-2 orbs everyday and on some days 3-4 Orbs. And so far this month, they've been doing the same. They've been very giving for a while now.

Nope, they consistently give Daily Orbs now, and there are many more ways to get them now.

They did stop Daily Orbs for a while, but now they try to come up with an "excuse" to run Daily Orbs, usually as celebration for something, like new characters being added to the game or a new update. These "excuses" always start as another is about to end, so really, we just have permanent Daily Orbs now.

You can also now get Orbs through Arena, Chain Challenge, Squad Assault, Voting Gauntlet, Tempest Trials, and miscellaneous quests like the monthly ones or the Grand Hero Battle re-runs. And of course, new story mode chapters as they add them.
