I don't understand people who get so worked up about every little decision Nintendo makes. I'm a longtime fan, and they've done nothing to upset me. Censorship happens; different regions have different perspectives on what's appropriate or inappropriate. Takedowns? Sure, it's rough to see fans' hard work being knocked off the web, but this is the Internet; files are never lost forever. At least AM2R and Uranium saw release, ensuring that they will persist for the foreseeable future. The only thing I disagree with is the strikes against GilvaSunner. Many Nintendo soundtracks cannot be obtained anymore, so why bother? But even then, that doesn't personally concern me, other than maybe losing some VGM videos I like. Why can't everyone just do what I do, and just accept that Nintendo marches to the beat of their own drum?

Though if face touching suddenly becomes a Fire Emblem mainstay, then I'm not really expecting Nintendo of America to change their mind when it happens.

Never underestimate the otaku that want to touch their waifu's faces in the Private Quarters. The conversations we got in the end were alright, but a bit on the short side (depending on the character).

The controversy was big the first time and it would be bigger if it happens the second time.

The sad part is that there's usually legit things to complain about in any given game, but it's always the minor petty things people dwell on.

I'm sure there were plenty of more worthwhile things the Smash fanbase could have focused on than being salty that *insert character here* "stole" a slot that likely wasn't available to whatever character they wanted instead in the first place or fussing over the character selection screen being a mess.

And FE and Xenoblade probably had more important things that needed to be worked on than censorship.

But all the bigger issues will be drowned out by people upset that they didn't get some very specific thing that they personally wanted but overall doesn't influence the quality of the game that much for the average person.

Most likely. Corrin suffers from having bland lines and taunts in Smash. But that's what they had to stick with to avoid spoiling Fates' story (still didn't stop some like the Omega Yato and such).

On the subject of Fire Emblem itself, I hope they learned from there experience and try writing a story with less problems next time around. Birthright had it easy despite the beginner friendly gameplay while the "hardcore" Conquest had some big hiccups here and there with its writing.

I think these character characters are equally, if not more controversial than the other choices you've listed. Especially Undertale and Minecraft since they are notorious for their rabid loud fandom and detractors think having them anywhere taints what they touch (especially your average Nintendo or Smash related video).

I saw tons of hate for him on YT and other places. Faqs as well but they hate everyone so I guess I can't use them as an example.

And given the comment the devs made about the reveal tomorrow, if it really was Shovel Knight then that must mean there has to be a large hatebase for SK for them to make that comment otherwise he wouldn't be "controversial".
