I somehow get the feeling that speaking up when I'm feeling down isn't necessarily a good idea at times like this.

Having the title of (or being defined as) "the most depressing person on Smashboards" really isn't going to help me either.

(then again, the whole 5 months to feel hyped again may of been a bit over the top, but that's just me jumping to conclusions as per usual...)

Since when? I've never once heard of this or seen it brought it since the systems came out up until this point and none of the games I own require any sort of paid service it all.

Are we talking PS3 or PS4? If it's PS3, it's completely optional. If it's PS4, a majority of games either need it fully or (in the case of games like Little Big Planet) have features locked away. There are agmes that don't need it at all, iirc Planetside 2 doesn't, but after that most games require you to pay a subscription and have ever since the launch of the PS4.

Good point, this thing's already going to beat the 3DS for me as someone who doesn't care about Mario. The poor thing was riding on Generations and Rumble Blast when I got it a year after release. The only other thing that released in 2012 or earlier that I eventually majorly cared about was Uprising and I didn't pick that up until I watched the Smash fandom go crazy for it and eventually caved over a year after it released. And then there was Pokemon not making the jump until way later, which there's at least a decent chance of it averting that issue here.

Meanwhile Year 1 for me here is Zelda, Splatoon, Xenoblade, Sonic, and who knows what leaked stuff might be rolled out later.

Except a lot of those third party games are just ports from other consoles. Also don't think Xenoblade is as big a franchise as people think it is. BotW and Odyssey might do something though.

Just got back from work, so playing a bit of catch-up here and I may be missing a few things:

-SMT: Funny how this came up a couple days after I beat Apocalypse. It's a neat teaser for what it is and hopefully they expand on it soon, also I'm glad they brought back Odin as I liked the design from Apocalypse (I hope he's voiced by D.C. Douglas again).

-Mario Kart: It looks to be a good improvement on the original, fan favorites come back, missed features and items come back, and the DLC is packaged in as well. I'm pretty happy with how this port turned out, especially since some of these features I couldn't experience before.

-Bomberman lives! I'm so happy to see that, I used to love the 64 version of the game, so having him brought back is a pleasant surprise for me.

-Splatoon 2: Looks good, the first one didn't entice me to buy it, but I'll keep an eye on this one as it looks to be making good improvements on the original's base.

-Xenoblade 2: Looks nice, the style is surprising compared to its predecessors, but it could work depending on the world they're planning on building. Since it has a '2' though, I'm curious if it'll be a continuation of the original Xenoblade, which will be interesting to see if they decide to go that route.

-Fire Emblem Warriors: It's kind of funny how this finally came to be as it was a common want, but one I don't think had a lot of hope in it, so it's great to see this come to life. My only concern is that it seems to be focusing on the Archanea games + Fates based on the teaser, but it could be because they're the most popular entries, so hopefully they'll draw from the other games even if those four get more of the focus.

-Third Parties: Skyrim I'll pick up, it's been one of the elusive games that I've never played, so I'll definitely take the chance to try it out. Dragon Quest also looks nice and I was planning on getting Sonic Mania regardless of which system it came out for, so having it on the Switch is nice for convenience.

-Mario: To be honest, this is the most excited I've been for a Mario game in a long time. It looks pretty fun and I like the world that it's building for itself, I look forward to seeing more of this.

-Zelda: It still looks as amazing as it did before, voice acting sounds good and the story seems to be promising so far, I can't wait to play this game.

All in all, not a bad presentation for me personally, I do wish for some other games to have been shown here, but what we got was enough to get me interested. I probably won't buy this at launch as I have a few other things I have to prepare for in March, but once I get things sorted out I may pick it up soon after.

I unfortunately did not take that as a joke; it felt serious to me. Normally, I could ignore it, but I am not feeling at my best.

One of the few ways I could cheer up right now is with a hint/teaser of Smash; that would brighten me once more. Sure, it may sound annoying at this point to some, but that really would make me feel happy again.

Alternatively, there are other ways; I could go finish leveling up for my Decidueye, but that would only work for a while.

Coming off the Wii U, it'll be a good year one. Zelda, Mario, and probably Pokemon. Splatoon, Xenoblade, probably Pikmin. And, most likely, a bunch of ports. Nintendo is over-compensating with their first-parties to both make up for and entice third-parties, but that's what they have to do at this point, and it's certainly not a detriment for the consumer.

That said, I believe the third-party offerings will be fairly light, and the launch itself seems surprisingly paltry. And this presentation wasn't fantastic. BUT, the year itself looks pretty solid considering where Nintendo stands nowadays.

To be fair, despite having to pay for Xbox Live when you didn't have to pay for PS3 or Wii, Xbox did have the best online infrastructure, and I'd argue it still does even when it's competitors are charging for online too. As much as it sucks, you are getting a better online environment and that's not cheap.

Nintendo seems to be positioning it as the Wii Sports/Nintendo Land of the system, and they led their presentation with it. It'll probably get the corresponding amount of marketing. So, I very much doubt it.

Callie was cut for not being good enough and losing every splatfest. Therefore Marie is all by herself now.

Thoughts on the presentation:

Launch lineup is ok, Bomberman is a cool one though. I won't be getting it at launch so it doesn't affect me.
1 2 Switch: Neat title, should have been a pack in, I may or may not get it.

ARMS: Actually looks pretty fun. If fleshed out it could be a good game.

Mario: HOLY **** this looks amazing, the most beautiful and most massive Mario title I've ever seen. So hyped for this!

FE Warriors: Yes Please! Also very hyped.

Online: Eh makes sense, you don't need to pay for it for actual online, so I think it's fine. It is just a bonus.

other titles all looked fine, hyped for the MK 8 stuff. Inklings, Bowser Jr. and Dry Bones are great additions.

Sizzle real was nice, some great titles there.

Xenoblade two should be good and seems interesting.

Spla2oon looks beautiful and so much more fleshed out. I can't wait to try it.

Zelda: Fantastic trailer! The Dialog, Voice Acting, world and so much more is amazing. It is looking to be the best Zelda. I cant wait to try out such a beautiful looking game.

My main disappointment is no Smash, that would have been the perfect closer and has no excuse to not be there. Guess it will be the Big E3 game.

I'm also expecting other stuff like Stars to maybe be touched upon at E3. I don't think the leaks are fake, but instead that the unshown titles are set to release later then what the event covered.

Overall I give it an 8/10. Wasn't super hyped, but got the job done and has a lot of potential and some solid titles coming. I look forward to more news in future.

One of the few ways I could cheer up right now is with a hint/teaser of Smash; that would brighten me once more. Sure, it may sound annoying at this point to some, but that really would make me feel happy again.

Alternatively, there are other ways; I could go finish leveling up for my Decidueye, but that would only work for a while.

I think you can start cheering up but realizing and accepting that smash probably isn't gonna show up for sometime

I have a feeling there might be limited customization compared to the 3DS. Judging by the games it seems more like a portable Wii U except better.

Maybe it's just because of the framerate or animations, but I'm just not feeling it. Animation wise it reminds me of a PS2 game, just with graphical fidelity of something from 2017

TBH, I do not think we will be getting any Smash info soon.

We might, but it hasn't even been a full year since Smash 4's development ended, so they might wait a bit to give the news on Smash, if there is news.

OK, my wishlist for Xenoblade 2 so far consists of the following: Playable Nopon.

Less moldy potato that doesn't even look like a potato or do anything, more HP wall heropon childish team dad goodness.

Also a plot that doesn't take away from the original Xenoblade's plot or end on a downer ending. Sequels of media in general have a bad habit of doing that and I hope Xenoblade doesn't go that route.

Hmm.... I just remembered that the Smash Bros. Facebook page did like the Nintendo Switch Facebook page a couple of months ago. Perhaps that was meant to be a first sign of the game's existence?
